Minutes Agora' Plenary Session

May 30th, 2011

1. Committees
◦ Sports Committees
▪ The committee has failed to meet three times now. It is essential that the members
meet and appoint a committee head and draft a plan.
▪ Members of the committee have proposed collaborating with the Sports Office to
provide “Agora'” sporting events.
▪ Should aim at creating and providing a calendar for all of next year's sporting events.
▪ Regular sporting events (i.e. at the end of every term) have been proposed.
▪ Should anyone wish to sign up to the Sports Committee please contact committee
Coordinator Matthijs (committees.agora@gmail.com)!

◦ End of Year Borrel (Lorraine and Cyril)


▪ Most likely take place on the 17th of June, 2011
▪ The organizers have proposed to complement to Borrel with a little surprise
celebration for IPM's first ever graduate!
▪ There might be a Paintball game involved!
▪ Should anyone wish to sign up to the End of Year Borrell Committee please contact

◦ UNESCO
▪ A short time ago the UNESCO Partnership Committee was created to establish a
cooperation between Agora' and the relevant HHS department with the goal of
furthering the UNESCO goals and philosophy.
▪ The Committee still needs to meet and establish a committee head.
▪ A meeting is being established with Ms. Anja Plugge (The UNESCO representative
at HHS/THU) and Cornelieke de Klerk (Unesco Jongeren/NJR) to create a road map
and plans for cooperation. The meeting will take place during the week of June 6th,
although we are still awaiting confirmation.
▪ Should anyone wish to sign up to the UNESCO committee or the Tap Water project
coomittee please e-mail Ruben (ombudsman.agora@gmail.com) or Matthijs
(committees.agora@gmail.com)!

◦ Publications
▪ The Agora' Publication committee will be established shortly (Next Plenary Session)
to carry out a number of Project such as:
• Study Companions/Review Guides – A summarized and condensed review
guide with all the essential material, knowledge and information pertaining to a
specific course within it. (To be worked on during the summer)
• IPM/Agora' Yearbook – We thought that beginning the tradition of creating
yearbooks, which would create a closer “group feeling” within the programme
for both present and future students, and might attract more applicants. The issue
of funding has been discussed and it is believed that the academy would be
willing to fund such an endeavor. (To be worked on throughout the whole of next
year)
• IPM/Agora' Introduction Guide – Lorraine (one of the Introduction Week
organizers) has proposed the creation of an IPM/Agora' introduction guide to aid
prospective and incoming students familiarize themselves with the structure and
processed of the course, to be used especially during the introduction week
• Agora' Student Companion – The creation of a student's “survival guide” has
been proposed.

The Treasurer, Qushal Bansraj, will bring the issue of funding for these publications at
the upcoming budgetary meeting with the BRV academy administration. Furthermore, it has
been proposed to have “showcases” of book signing days and fairs to promote the work done by
IPM students.

P.S. Having published something official during your Bachelor's is quite impressive and looks
really good on CVs.

2. Tutoring
◦ We have not received updates or news from the Tutoring committee in some time.
◦ Transparency about the process and what results or ideas the committee has come up
with has been called for by the Board of Supervisors.
◦ There have been problems with figuring out funding for training and certification.
◦ The person now in charge for the tutoring endeavours, has been looking for the
members of the committee for weeks now and has been asked to be contacted. Please
inform on of your representative to contact the Ombudsman for her contact details.

3. Introduction Week
◦ The schedule for the Introduction Week is full and has been finalized.
◦ The introduction week will not be an Agora' venture or activity but will instead grant the
Union some “slots” to fill.

4. Letter from your Ombudsman


◦ Please read the attached letter from your Ombudsman regarding the various and
different actors, bodies and branches of BRV which influence your study (and how
Agora' fits into all this).
