BLUE SKY PROGRAM

In 1992 Indonesia broke the

record as a country of the world's
dirtiest air. Even the world's
environment agency (UNEP)
without hesitation named Jakarta
as a polluted city and the
number three after MEXICO
BANGKOK. Sources of air
pollution comes from motor
vehicles (75%) and industry
(25%). About 3 million cars from
the 75% contamination was 90%
comes from private vehicles and
10% of them from public transportation. Out of the exhaust emissions of
motor vehicles are CO, SO, CO2, SOX, NOX, dust and lead (black lead).

The impact of air pollution in micro affect local air quality while at the
macro scale affects all living creatures on earth. Residential sectors that
describe the emissions from households also play a role in the emission of
air pollutants, such as burning of land bakarminyak particulate and sulfur
dioxide form. These pollutants enter the human ketubuh through
penafasan system, digestion and skin. The impact on children of the
digestive tract syndrome, consciousness, anemia, kidney damage,
disruption of the central nervous. Decline in IQ and behavioral changes in
adults will cause fertility (fertilization), cancer, dizziness, respiratory tract,
hypertension, heart disease, and miscarriage.

Burning gasoline is very bad impact on the environment. In addition to

deplete natural resources. Burning gasoline produces gases that are
included in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These greenhouse gases rise
and come together diatmosfer earth. Causes excessive greenhouse effect.
The greenhouse effect which causes uncontrolled ecological changes such
as rising world temperatures, climate change, rising sea levels, a large city
water crisis, the increasing frequency of diseases transmitted by
mosquitoes and declining agricultural productivity.

Actions that can be done to support the Blue Sky Program is:

Buy a fuel-efficient vehicles. Use the car battery that is rechargeable. For
two-wheeled motor vehicle, choose a four-stroke engine rather than two-
stroke. Besides saving fuel, air emissions are also much smaller.

1. Maintain vehicles regularly, such as machinery, fuel filter, tire pressure,

etc.. Vehicle in good condition to consume 9% less fuel.

2. Do not get speeding when not needed, if the reduced speed means less
fuel use and pollution bhan.

3. Reduce use of private vehicles when mileage closely and if absolutely

necessary.

4. Use public transportation when the user is only a few vehicles, in

addition to saving fuel also reduces emissions of waste.

5. Using unleaded gasoline when able.

6. Turn off vehicle engines when experiencing traffic congestion.
