Ron and Tim Matteo were born with hemophilia, a hereditary blood disorder. Ron died in 1988 at the age of 19 due to an uncontrolled bleeding episode. In the 20 years that we have been hosting this outing, we have donated over $500,000.00.

The
first
Ron
&
Tim
Matteo
Memorial
Golf
Outing
was
held
in
July
of
1990
to
honor
the
memory
of
my
two
sons.
Ron
and
Tim
were
born
with
hemophilia,
a
hereditary
blood
disorder
that
prohibits
normal
blood
clotting.
What
is
a
simple
bump
or
cut
to
most
can
cause
serious
problems
for
hemophiliacs
until
they
are
treated
with
the
products
available
to
aid
in
blood
clotting.
As
was
the
case
with
my
son
Ron,
many
hemophiliacs
subsequently
become
immune
to
blood
clotting
medicines
creating
an
even
more
serious
situation.
Ron
died
in
1988
at
the
age
of
19
due
to
an
uncontrolled
bleeding
episode.
Tim
died
in
1990
at
the
age
of
18
due
to
AIDS,
which
he
contracted
from
his
blood
clotting
treatments.
My
husband,
Carmen,
and
I
were
devoted
to
caring
for
our
sons
through
all
of
their
bleeding
episodes.
Since
the
deaths
of
Ron
and
Tim,
we,
along
with
our
most
loving
and
supportive
family,
wanted
to
continue
to
direct
our
energy
to
caring
for
boys
with
hemophilia.
The
funds
donated
to
the
Northern
Ohio
Hemophilia
Foundation
have
been
used
to
pay
for
the
many
needs
of
its
members,
including
medical
bills,
summer
camp
and
household
expenditures.
In
the
twenty
years
that
we
have
been
hosting
this
event,
we
have
donated
over
$500,000.00
to
the
Foundation.
It
has
been
a
difficult
but
rewarding
experience.
Those
of
you
that
are
new
to
our
outing
may
be
unaware
of
the
strong
bond
between
Ron
and
Tim
and
their
dad.
On
August
29,
2000
Carmen
was
reunited
with
the
boys
after
losing
a
battle
with
Leukemia,
ironically
another
blood
disorder.
It
has
been,
and
always
will
be,
very
difficult
without
him.
The
Northern
Ohio
Hemophilia
Foundation
has
since
established
the
Carmen
S.
Matteo
Memorial
Assistance
Fund.
All
of
our
donations
support
this
fund
and
are
used
to
help
families
in
the
Northeast
Ohio
area.
Thank
you
from
the
bottom
of
my
heart
for
your
support.
