I accepted the position as a volunteer of the medical center auxiliary, serving
as the primary contact person between new patients seeking services and the tech
nicians.
I interact with many elderly people who are waiting to hear if they have a serio
us illness, such as cancer. Since the experience can be very traumatic, I assist
them during the time they are waiting for results and provide comfort for them.
In addition, I facilitate communications, maintaining efficiency while I perfor
m all the standard administrative duties as well as acting as receptionist and d
epartment liaison. I greet patients and assist them to and from treatment areas
while maintaining HIPAA, RAC, Joint Commission, OIG compliance.
Coordinating closely with the technicians, I have helped patients schedule their
appointments with the available tech, thus maximizing the time slots. The resul
t is a significant net revenue increase to the medical center.
By capturing as much pertinent information as possible during the patient interv
iew stage and making certain that all the patient documentation is in order befo
re sending it to the appropriate technician I am able to avoid many difficulties
that would normally arise.

Following hurricane Wilma, I kept the Margate store functioning in spite of inte
rmittent power outages and was able to assist the city with emergence supplies.
Senior management recognized my team and I for our efforts, but the greatest rew

Another occasion to give back to the community was when I put together a 5 to 8
