WUBBZY
(to CAMERA)
Wow wow, everybody! Today’s my
birthday!

WIDER - to reveal DAIZY, holding a wrapped box.

DAIZY
And here’s a birthday gift for
you, Wubbzy!

WUBBZY
Thanks, Daizy!

Wubbzy opens the box, reaches in, and pulls out a

DETECTIVE KIT.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Wooow! An official Dandy Deluxe
Detective Kit!

Wubbzy pauses a beat, puts down the box, and looks at it

with a confused expression.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Uh...what’s a Detective Kit?

Daizy reaches into the box and pulls out a DEERSTALKER

CAP and a MAGNIFYING GLASS.

DAIZY
It has everything you need to be
an official Detective.

Daizy hands Wubbzy the magnifying glass and plops the hat
on his head.

WUBBZY
Wow! Wow! I’m an official
detective!

Wubbzy pauses a beat as he looks confused.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Uh...what’s a Detective?

DAIZY
A detective is someone who looks
for clues to solve a mystery.

WUBBZY
Ooooh.

Wubbzy starts looking around the room with the magnifying

glass.

DAIZY
<giggles> What are you doing,
Wubbzy?

WUBBZY
I’m looking for clues.

Wubbzy picks up a small FEATHER.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Aha! A feather! That can only
mean one thing---

Wubbzy turns and looks at BIRDY-BIRD, sitting on the

window.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Birdy-Bird is here!

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

WUBBZY
<giggles> Being a detective is
fun! But I wish I could solve a
real mystery. Wouldn’t that be
cool, Daizy...?

Wubbzy turns, and finds, the room empty.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
....Daizy? Hey, where did she go?

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep?>

Wubbzy goes to the door.

Daizy...!
(scratches his head)
I don’t see her anywhere - she
just disappeared. Wow, that’s a
mystery...
(realizes)
A mystery! And I’m just the
detective to solve it!

Birdy-Bird lands on Wubbzy’s tail.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheeps!>

WUBBZY
You can be my helper, Birdy-Bird.
We’ll call this “The Case of the
Missing Daizy.”

Wubbzy holds up the magnifying glass.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Let’s look for clues!

He searches all over the Wubb Club.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Nope - nothing there...Nope -
nothing there...

In the meantime, Birdy-Bird lands next to a a screwy-

looking SCREW on the floor.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

WUBBZY
What is it, Birdy-Bird?

Wubbzy looks at the screw through his magnifying glass.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Aha! A clue! Daizy must have
dropped this.

Wubbzy carefully picks up the twisty screw and studies it

carefully.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Hmm - it appears to be some kind
of screw for building things.
There’s only one person who can
help us with this.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep?>

WUBBZY
That’s right, Birdy-Bird - we have
to go see Widget!

Wubbzy rushes out the door.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep?>

Birdy-Bird flies after him.

EXT. WIDGET’S WORKSHOP

Est. shot of the Workshop.

INT. WIDGET’S WORKSHOP

WIDGET is hammering away on a project. Wubbzy enters,

carrying the screw.

WUBBZY
Wow wow, Widget!

WIDGET
Hey, little buddy. What are you
up to, in that get-up?

WUBBZY
Birdy-Bird and I are Detectives
and we’re trying to solve a
mystery. Daizy has disappeared,
and we’re trying to find her.

WIDGET
(looks under bench)
Well, she’s not here, that’s for
sure.

Wubbzy hands her the screw.

WUBBZY
We found this clue. Can you tell
us what it means?

WIDGET
Hmm - that’s one screwy-looking
screw. Never saw one like that
before...Let me check my toolbox.

Widget heads into the adjoining room.

WUBBZY
Now we’re getting somewhere.

Wubbzy walks up the door of the adjoining room.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Did you find anything, Widget?
...(pause)...Widget?

Wubbzy heads into the room.

INT. NEXT ROOM - CONTINUOUS

The room is empty.

WUBBZY
Hey - now Widget has disappeared!

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep>

WUBBZY
This is turning into a real
mystery!
(whips out his
magnifying glass)
Time to look for more clues.

Wubbzy again scours the room for clues. Birdy-Bird flies

up to him, with a sheet of paper in his beak.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep-cheep!>

WUBBZY
What have you got there, Birdy-
Bird?

Wubbzy looks at the sheet, which has all kinds of

scientific equations on it.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Aha! Look at all this scientific
writing. There’s only one man who
can explain this.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep?>

WUBBZY
That’s right, Birdy-Bird - let’s
go see Walden!

They head off.

6.

EXT. WALDEN’S HOUSE

EST. Shot of Walden’s house.

INT. WALDEN’S LIBRARY

Walden sits at a desk, surrounded by stacks of books. He

is studying the sheet of paper.

WALDEN
Yes yes yes, Wubbzy - this appears
to be a very special formula.

WUBBZY
But a formula for what, Walden?

WALDEN
Ah, well - for the answer to that,
I’ll need to consult my
Encyclopedia of Everything.

Walden gets up.

WUBBZY
(anxious)
It’s not in the next room, is it?

WALDEN
(laughs)
No no no, the book is right on
this shelf back here.

Walden heads behind a stack of books.

WUBBZY
(to Birdy-Bird)
<giggles> At least we know Walden
won’t disappear.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

Beat. Walden doesn’t come back.

WUBBZY
I hope. Walden...?

BEHIND STACK OF BOOKS - Wubbzy and Birdy-Bird check

behind the stack. No Walden.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
He’s gone!
(scratches his head)
This is a triple mystery!

(CONTINUED)

Wubbzy takes out his magnifying glass.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
There’s gotta be a clue here
somewhere!

As Wubbzy searches, Birdy-Bird notices a button on the

wall.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheeps>

She <pecks> at it, and the bookcase suddenly slides open.

WUBBZY
Aha! A secret panel! Wait, Birdy-
Bird, I’ll lead the way.

Wubbzy steps through the secret panel, and...

INT. SECRET ROOM - CONTINUOUS

...He finds himself in a dark room.

WUBBZY
Wow - it sure is dark in here. I
can’t see where I’m going.

Birdy-Bird flies in, holding a flashlight.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Thanks, Birdy-Bird.

Wubbzy takes the flashlight, and looks around.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Wow, this must be Walden’s storage
room.

He flashes the light on a shelf of cobwebbed test tubes.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Look, there’s some old
experiments...

He flashes his light on old 70’s-type retro furniture.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
And there’s some old furniture...

He flashes the light down, and discovers that he is

standing at the very top of a slide.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
And here’s an old slide...

And immediately, the floor collapses beneath him and he

drops down the slide.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Whoaaaa!

Wubbzy plummets down the slide, which twists and turns,

and does loopty-loops, and finally deposits him...

EXT. WALDEN’S HOUSE

...outside Walden’s house, in a mud puddle <SPLAT!>

As Wubbzy pulls himself out of the puddle, Birdy-Bird

flies out through the tube.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep-cheep>

WUBBZY
Wow, Birdy-Bird - being a
detective can get a little messy.

Birdy-Bird finds a ballet TUTU on the ground.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

WUBBZY
Aha! A ballet costume. Maybe
Madame Zabinga can explain this.
To the dance studio!

Wubbzy and Birdy-Bird rush off.

INT. MADAME ZABINGA’S DANCE STUDIO

MADAME ZABINGA and HER STUDENTS are rehearsing a ballet

routine. Wubbzy rushes in with the tutu.

WUBBZY
Madame Zabinga! I found this
ballet costume and I...

The Students dance past Wubbzy. Madame Zabinga twinkle-

toes over and takes the Tutu from Wubbzy.

MADAME ZABINGA
Thank you, my little Wubbkins!

She goes into a twirl and spins past Wubbzy O.S. As she
passes Wubbzy he gets spun around as well. Wubbzy comes
out of the spin and looks around at the empty room.

WUBBZY
Madame Zabinga...?

He runs to the door---

EXT. STUDIO

Wubbzy finds no one outside the door.

WUBBZY
They’re gone!

Birdy-Bird finds a slip of paper on the ground.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep-cheep>

WUBBZY
Aha! It’s some kind of recipe.
Maybe Chef Fritz can explain this.
To the Yum-Yum Restaurant!

INT. YUM-YUM RESTAURANT - KITCHEN

Chef Fritz is whipping up a dish in the kitchen when

Wuhbzy and Birdy-Bird enter.

CHEF FRITZ
With a little pinch of zis, and a
little pinch of zat...Ah, Wubbzy!
And Birdy-Bird! Welcome to my
kitchen.

WUBBZY
Wow wow, Chef Fritz. Can you tell
us what this recipe is for?

CHEF FRITZ
Hmm...Let me put the ingredients
together and see what we get.

WUBBZY
Okay.
(to Birdy-Bird)
And this time I’m not letting Chef
Fritz out of my sight.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

Chef Fritz bends behind the counter. Only his chef’s hat
is visible. Wubbzy keeps his eye intently on the hat.

(CONTINUED)
10.
CONTINUED:

Chef Fritz’s hands pop up to place ingredients - eggs,

milk, etc. - on the counter. Then there’s a pause. His
hat is still visible.

WUBBZY
Chef Fritz...?

As Wubbzy looks around the counter, he finds the Hat

sitting on a stool, all by itself.

WUBBZY (CONT'D)
Now he’s gone! This is crazy!

Birdy-Bird again finds a clue - a magic wand.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep-cheep!>

WUBBZY
A magic wand! That’s a clue!

INT. MOO-MOO’S MAGIC SHOP

Wubbzy rushes into the Magic Shop, where MOO-MOO THE

MAGICIAN stands behind the counter.

WUBBZY
Moo-Moo, we found your magic wand,
and...

Moo-Moo takes the magic wand from Wubbzy.

MOO-MOO
Why, thank you Wubbzy.

Moo-Moo taps himself on the head, and <POOF!> - he

disappears.

WUBBZY
Now he’s gone!

EXT. TOWN SQUARE

WIDE SHOT - as Wubbzy rushes into the empty Town Square.

WUBBZY
It looks like the whole town of
Wuzzleburg is gone.
(yells)
HEY - WHERE IS EVERYBODY?

He listens for a moment, and all he can hear are CRICKETS

<chirping>. A moment later, even the <chirping> STOPS.
11.

EXT. WUBB CLUB

Wubbzy returns to the Wubb Club, dejected.

WUBBZY
Wow wow wow. I had all these
clues - a screwy screw, a formula,
a ballet costume, a recipe, - but
I still couldn’t figure out the
mystery. <sighs> I guess I’m not
such a great detective after all.

Wubbzy tosses his deerstalker cap aside. It lands right

over Birdy-Bird, sitting on the picnic table.

INT. WUBB CLUB

Wubbzy enters the Wubb Club.

WUBBZY
And worst of all, it’s my
birthday, and there’s nobody
around to celebrate with me.

Suddenly all of his friends jump out from behind doors,

couches, etc.

ALL
SURPRISE!

WUBBZY
Huh?

DAIZY
Happy Birthday, Wubbzy! And
congratulations on solving the
mystery!

WUBBZY
You mean - this party was the big
mystery?

WIDGET
That’s right, little buddy. The
screwy screw you brought me fit
perfectly into the special
birthday robot I built for you.

Widget turns on a little robot toy, and it <clanks> into

the room, transforms into a larger robot wearing a party
hat, and starts to sing and dance.

ROBOT
“It’s your Happy Happy Birthday/
It’s time to sing and play/Happy-
happy-happy! Happy every way!/

The robot ends with a big flourish. A hatch slides open

and a bunch of PRESENTS are spit out.

WUBBZY
Wow!

CHEF FRITZ
And zat recipe you brought me was
for a super-sized doodleberry
birthday cake.

Chef Fritz points as BUGGY and EARL push out a giant

cake.

WUBBZY
Wow!

Madame Zabinga is wearing the ballet tutu that Wubbzy

brought.

MADAME ZABINGA
And that ballet costume you
brought me was just what we needed
to perform a birthday dance for
you.

Madame Zabinga and her dance students do a dance for

Wubbzy.

WUBBZY
Wow!

WALDEN
And that formula you brought me
was for a big birthday fireworks
display!

Walden points out the window, as FIREWORKS burst in the

sky outside <POW! BLAM! BA-BOOM!>

WUBBZY
Wow!

DAIZY
So you see, Wubbzy, you followed
all the clues perfectly. You’re a
great detective!

WUBBZY
Wow - I guess I am. We both are,
right, Birdy-Bird?...Hey, where is
Birdy-Bird?

Suddenly Wubbzy’s deerstalker cap flies through the air.

ALL
Oooo!

The cap lands on the table, and Birdy-Bird peeks out from
underneath.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

WUBBZY
<giggles> Mystery solved!

ALL
