FADE IN:

INT. WUBB CLUB - DAY

CLOSE ON A SCARY JACK-O-LANTERN, floating toward SCREEN, as

we hear <A SPOOKY LAUGH>:

SPOOKY LAUGH (O.S.)

Oooo-hoo-hoo-hoo-ha-ha-ha...!

Then WUBBZY pops up, giggling.

WUBBZY
(to audience)
Wow wow! Did I scare you? It’s fun
to scare people!

Wubbzy walks over to the doorway.

WUBBZY
And today is the best day of all to
scare people! It’s the day of the
Big Halloween Party, and everyone
at the Wubb Club is getting ready
for it.

He peeks around the corner into the next room.

WE SEE Widget, Walden and Daizy decorating for the party.

WUBBZY
(to audience)
There’s Walden, Widget and Daizy.
I’ll pretend to be a ghosty-ghost,
and see if I can scare them!

Wubbzy puts a sheet over his head and sneaks into the next
room.
 2.

INT. WUBB CLUB - BIG ROOM - DAY

In the big room, WALDEN, WIDGET and DAIZY are getting ready
for the big Halloween costume party...

ON WALDEN - carving a pumpkin. Wubbzy pops up next to him,

wearing his ghost costume.

WUBBZY
Boo!

WALDEN
(not the least bit scared)
Oh, hello Wubbzy.

Wubbzy lifts the sheet from his face, disappointed. Walden

holds up the pumpkin he’s been carving.

WALDEN
How does this pumpkin face look?

WUBBZY
Uh...great, Walden.

Wubbzy puts the sheet back over his face and moves on.

ON DAIZY - arranging a bouquet of spooky flowers. Wubbzy

leaps out from behind the flowers.

WUBBZY
Boo!

DAIZY
(without flinching)
Hi Wubbzy! Aren’t these Kooky
Spooky Flowers cute?

The Flowers shake and shudder scarily.

FLOWERS
Oooooo...!

WUBBZY
(sighing, defeated)
Sure, Daizy.

ON WIDGET - on a step-ladder, hanging a string of Jack-o-

lantern ornaments. Wubbzy sneaks up behind her.

WUBBZY
BOO!

Widget smiles, definitely not scared.

 3.

WIDGET
Hey there, Wubbster. Have you seen
my latest invention?

Widget points to the Party Partner 3000.

WIDGET (CONT’D)
It hangs streamers, blows up
balloons, plays music AND it will
take photos all throughout the
party.

In an automaton’s voice the Party Partner speaks:

PARTY PARTNER
“Say Cheese!”

It snaps a picture with a <FLASH>, and spits out a photo.

C.U. of PHOTO, featuring a totally non-smiling Wubbzy.

WUBBZY
(glumly)
That’s cool.

WUBBZY - takes off his sheet, and slumps into a nearby chair.

Noticing Wubbzy’s disappointment, Daizy, Widget and Walden

gather around him.

DAIZY
What’s the matter, Wubbzy?

Wubbzy swings his feet sadly.

WUBBZY
Ohhh...I wanted to be scary, and I
didn’t scare ANYbody.

WIDGET
(tries to cheer him up)
What do you mean, little buddy?
You sure scared me.

DAIZY
Yes, I was totally scared.

WALDEN
Great ghouly goblins, you’re the
scariest ghost I’ve ever seen.

WUBBZY
(not fooled)
Let’s face it, I’m not gonna win
first prize for Scariest Costume
wearing this old sheet.

WALDEN
Well, you know, Wubbzy, a Halloween
costume doesn’t have to be scary.
It could be funny.

WIDGET
Or crazy.

DAIZY
Or pretty!

ON WALDEN - as he proudly displays his costume on a hanger.

It is a robe and cape. He puts an odd-shaped crown on his
head.

WALDEN
Look! I’m going to be Vespuccio,
the ancient king of Zoomla.

WUBBZY
Wow. Cool!

ON WIDGET - as she looks through the eye-holes of a metallic

machine-part face mask that she has taken from a group of
other machine-like pieces.

WIDGET
And I’m going to be a hydraulic-
turbo ratchet!

WUBBZY
Wow, Wow! Very cool!

DAIZY - points out her big Flower costume, leaning against

the wall.

DAIZY
And I’m going to be a beautiful
Floppy-flower tree!...with real
petal action!

Daizy demonstrates, opening and closing the Floppy-flower

petals by pushing a button on the trunk.

DAIZY
Widget helped me a little...
 5.

WUBBZY
Wow, wow, wow! Super cool!

WALDEN
So you see, Wubbzy, you don’t have
to be scary.

WIDGET
That’s right, little buddy - it
doesn’t matter what you’re dressed
as, as long as you have fun.

Widget, Walden, and Daizy move off. Wubbzy is alone.

WUBBZY
Yeah, those are great costumes -
but I want to win first prize for
Scariest Costume.

Wubbzy starts down the hallway, carrying the sheet.

WUBBZY
So I’m gonna find something really
really scary in the Costume Room!

Wubbzy walks up to a large door that’s labeled COSTUME ROOM.

WUBBZY (CONT’D)
Then I can sneak up behind
everybody and yell ‘Boo’! That’s
gonna be fun!

INT. COSTUME ROOM

Wubbzy walks into the costume room.

WUBBZY
Let’s see...what’s really scary?

He opens a trunk and pulls out a witch costume -

WUBBZY
A witch? Nope...

Then a werewolf-

WUBBZY
A werewolf? I don’t think so...

Then a Frankenstein monster -

WUBBZY
A monster? No, I want to be
reallllly scary!

BIRDY-BIRD, sitting on a nearby box, watches, <CHIRPS>

loudly.

WUBBZY
Hi there, Birdy-Bird. I’m looking
for a scary Halloween costume. But
there’s nothing in this trunk.

BIRDY-BIRD
<CHIRPS>

Wubbzy notices the box that Birdy-Bird’s on.

WUBBZY
Wow - what’s in that box your
sitting on?

Wubbzy goes over to the box and examines its contents - tin
cans, bits of metal, tubes etc.

WUBBZY
Oh, it’s nothing but a pile of
junk...

Laughing, he holds two tin cans up and places them in front

of his eyes.

WUBBZY
<growls>

Birdy-Bird jumps into the air, startled.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>

WUBBZY
(delighted)
Did I scare you, Birdy-bird? Hey,
maybe I can make something scary! I
can take this old junk and
become...

He holds up an old mop-head and puts it on his head.

WUBBZY (CONT’D)
...the Hairy-Scary Robot Monster
from Planet Doom!

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep?>
 7.

IN A QUICK MONTAGE, Wubbzy cuts and glues, making the sound

effects and imitating the threatening monotone voice of his
creation as he assembles his monster.

When it’s completed he stands in front of the mirror again,

delighted.

WUBBZY
Oh yeah! This is the Scariest
Costume for sure. I know I’ll win
first prize.

He holds up the ordinary sheet costume and compares.

WUBBZY
It’s way scarier than this silly
old ghost costume.

As he leaves the room, he tosses the sheet behind him, and it

lands right on Birdy-Bird. We see Birdy-Bird’s eye blinking
through the ghost hole.

BIRDY-BIRD
<chirp!>

EXT. WUBB CLUB - PARTY ROOM

Now the PARTY-GOERS are arriving in a variety of costumes.

As they have fun bobbing for apples and playing games and
drinking cider, the Party Partner flashes throughout,
spitting out photos of the costumed guests. Walden, Widget
and Daizy are in their costumes, greeting everyone.

WIDGET
(looking around)
Say, the party’s starting - where’s
Wubbzy?

DAIZY
He’s going to miss all the fun!

ON WUBBZY - he peeks out from around a corner.

WUBBZY
Oh boy - I’m gonna scare some
people <giggles>

He tiptoes away.

INT. WUBB CLUB - DRAPES

Wubbzy sneaks behind a set of drapes.

 8.

WUBBZY
I’ll hide here and wait for
somebody to walk by.

As Wubbzy hides, MADAME ZABINGA and CHEF FRITZ walk by,

wearing costumes. Wubbzy jumps out from behind the drapes -

WUBBZY
Rarrrh!

MADAME ZABINGA/CHEF FRITZ

<Scream>

They run off.

WUBBZY
<giggles>

INT. WUBB CLUB PARTY ROOM - MIRROR

As Daizy checks her costume in a mirror, Wubbzy pops through

the nearby window —

WUBBZY
Rarrh!

DAIZY
<screams>

Daizy runs off.

INT. PARTY ROOM - TUB OF APPLES

Walden stands before a tub of bobbing apples.

WALDEN
Let’s see - which apple shall I bob
for? Ah - that one!

Walden dunks his head in, snaring the apple in his mouth. As
he comes up with the bobbed apple, Wubbzy jumps up from
behind a chair.

WUBBZY
Rarrh!

Startled, Walden spits the apple across the room <PTOOEY!>,

where it -

- lands in the PUNCH BOWL <SPLASH!>, drenching Widget in

punch.
 9.

INT. PARTY ROOM - SNACK TABLE

Now everyone’s getting really nervous and scared. They gather

together near the snack table, murmuring fearfully:

MADAME ZABINGA
I saw a monster!

CHEF FRIZ
I saw it too!

WALDEN
I was so scared I lost my apple!

DAIZY
Maybe the Wubb Club is haunted!

INT. WUBB CLUB - COSTUME ROOM

In the darkened costume room, Wubbzy <giggles> as he peeks

out through the door, delighted that he has fooled them.

WUBBZY
<giggles> This is so much fun!
But maybe I should come out now and
tell them it’s only me, so I can
win the prize!

But just then, Wubbzy hears something <bump> behind him.

WUBBZY
(nervous)
Wow! What was that?

Then another <bump>.

WUBBZY
(scared)
Wow, wow! Is somebody there?

Wubbzy turns on the light and sees - a GHOST, floating in the

air!

WUBBZY

Yeowww!

Wubbzy dashes out of the room.

INT. WUBB CLUB - PARTY ROOM

Wubbzy comes rushing out into the crowd -

 10.

WUBBZY
Ahhhhhh!

Everyone sees the monster coming -

ALL
<Scream>

But as he trips, his costume falls apart around him, and they
see that it’s Wubbzy.

DAIZY
Wubbzy - you scared us!

Wubbzy doesn’t have time to explain —

WUBBZY
Look out! It’s a real ghost!

He points towards -

THE DOOR OF THE COSTUME ROOM - Everyone looks in the

direction of the door from which Wubbzy has run. Sure enough,
out floats the GHOST.

ALL
<scream!>

Everyone is really scared now. They all bunch closer

together, in a shivering group

The Ghost heads straight for Wubbzy.

WUBBZY
Oh no! It’s coming right for me!

As Wubbzy runs in terror, the PARTY PARTNER takes his

picture.

PARTY PARTNER
Say Cheese!

And the camera <FLASHES>.

As the Ghost chases Wubbzy around the room, it accidentally

bumps into a party decoration; the sheet snags and pulls off
to REVEAL - poor little Birdy-Bird, who was simply trapped
under the sheet!

DAIZY
Look - it’s only Birdy-Bird!

BIRDY-BIRD
<chirp!>
 11.

Wubbzy, who is hiding behind the drapes, shaking, now peeks

out timidly.

WUBBZY
It is Birdy-Bird!

Birdy-Bird flies over and lands on Wubbzy’s finger.

BIRDY-BIRD
<chirp!>

WUBBZY
Oh, Birdy-bird, you really scared
me! <giggles>

Everyone joins in <laughing>.

WALDEN - stands before a Table with the trophies lined up.

WALDEN
Okay, gather round, it’s time to
give out the prizes.

Widget collects the photos from the Party Partner. She pins
them on the wall so Walden can judge them. All the guests
gather round.

WE SEE various shots from the party. Then one of the Ghost.

WALDEN
I think we can all agree on the
prize for the Scariest Costume.

Widget holds up a photo of everyone cowering in front of the

ghost.

WIDGET
Yep - the winner is Birdy-Bird!

Walden gives Birdy-Bird a trophy, with a scary-face medal.

ALL
<cheer>

Birdy-Bird sits on the rim of the trophy, nodding. Wubbzy

comes up to congratulate her.

WUBBZY
Wow, Birdy-Bird, I never thought
that old ghost costume could ever
be so scary.

BIRDY-BIRD
<cheep!>
 12.

Now Walden makes another announcement:

WALDEN
Your attention, please. We have
another winner: Wubbzy wins two
prizes!

WUBBZY
(lights up)
Wow! Two prizes?!

WALDEN
Yes yes yes! One prize for the Best
Homemade Costume...

Widget holds up a photo of Wubbzy’s costume. Daizy hangs a

ribbon around Wubbzy’s neck.

WUBBZY
Wow!

WALDEN
And the second prize is for...Most
Scared Person.

Widget holds up a comical picture of a horrified Wubbzy, his

costume in pieces around him.

Wubbzy <laughs> at the picture.

WUBBZY
Yup, it sure is fun being scared!

Everyone else joins in -

ALL
<laughter>

Right in the middle of the laughter, we suddenly hear the

<SPOOKY LAUGH> from the opening:

SPOOKY LAUGH
Ooo-hoo-hoo-hoo-ha-ha-ha!

WIDGET
Hey, where did that come from?

Everyone falls silent.

WUBBZY
(in a weak gasp)
Wow.

IRIS OUT.
