Local national p

will be engaged for running the plant. So, migration of people [o the pro.iect s
ite will nol
be required to meet the need of the plant. It is not likell' to create anl' adve
rse impact ou
the local labor market. However, it will not be so significant to create anl' ba
d effect for
the local residents' ascess to local labor market.
With the increase of income level of the poor some alvaren'ess about the need fo
r
educatioq need for safe and pure drinking water and that lbr improvemetrt of the
local
environment will increase. So, need and improvement of environment friendly' hou
sing,
schools for eclucation, business, market, recrealional facilities, etc. are expe
cted to rise up
in the localib'.
The other important positive impact of the plant would be the increase of produc
tion of
international quali4 denims fabrics, which will reduce the gap between supply an
d
demand of denims fabrics in the couttrl'.
8.4 Impact Assessment - Application of Standard Methods
Identification of potential impacts due to implementation of proposed plant is d
one b1'
using Simple Checklist Method. This one method is described below:
Checklist
Checklist is comprehensive list of environmental eff'ects and irnpacts indicator
designed to
stimulate the anall-sts to think broadly about possible consequence of contempla
ted actions
(Munn, lg79). Table-L5 at next page represents the checklist developed for the p
resent
plant. In this checklist, actions, which may' affeot at the various stages of th
e project
activities, ilo listed and the degrees of Significant Environmental Impacts (SEI
s) are
shown. The terms none, major, minor; moderate and major Ne used in the checklist
to
evaluate the magnitude to SEIs, In the checklist, both the constntctiou and oper
ational
phases of the proposed intervention are considered separately' irr order to dist
inguish the
short term and long-term impact. As can be observ'ed from the checklis! major
environmenlal componenls that will be adversell' affected b1' activilies of the
project are
water qualify and socio:ecororlic environment. All these impacts tvili arise in
operation
phase of the project. If should be noted that idenfification indicated in the ch
ecklist
relafes to the significant level of impact, assuming thaf no negative impacts
mifigation.
