Responsible for the electrical portion of the conversion of Ex-Navy Destroyer, U
SS Hoel (DDG-13) to a commercial, floating power station. Including, the restor
ation, repair and testing of shipboard power generating / distribution systems,
motors and motor controllers. Also the 1200-PSI steam plant electrical controls
and alarm systems. I was sent to Manus Brazil, South America for three (3) mont

USS STERRETT (CG-31) in San Diego and the ROH of USS WILLIAM H. STANDLEY (CG-32)
in Portland, OR. Repaired and tested navigational search radar and communicati
ons equipment for the reactivation of the heavy cargo roll-on/roll-off ships CAP
E ISABEL for duty in the Gulf War. GMFCS Supervisor for installation and testin
g of MK 74 Tartar Missile Fire Control system with NTU during the ROH of USS CHA
NDLER (DDG-996) in Seattle. GMFCS Supervisor for repair and testing of MK 92 FC
S, MK 13 GMLS and Harpoon during the SRA of USS SIDES (FFG-11) in San Diego and
USS MORRISON (FFG-13) in Jacksonville, FL. Overhauled and tested the SPN-43A CC
A Radar during the ROH of USS OKINAWA (LPH-3) in Portland, OR.

nd tested the MK 86 GFCS and SLQ-25 during the ROH of USS CUSHING (DD-985) in Po

September 1984: Retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Fire Contr

Assigned to Mobile Technical Unit Nine (MOTU-9), San Francisco CA. Provided rep
air and Combat Systems testing services for Fire Control and Surface Search Rada
r Systems on Navy ships in San Francisco, Canada and Alaska. Also managed the U
nitas operating budget (OPTAR).

1976 - 1980: Chief Fire Control Technician Gun, U.S. Navy.


Assigned to USS MEYERKORD (FF-1058) as Divisional CPO and supervisor in charge o
f the MK 68 GFCS, Harpoon FCS, and Basic Point Defense Missile System. JOOD and
CIC watch officer underway, and completed qualification of Enlisted Surface Warf
are Specialist. Supervised shipas force work loads and coordinated with shipyard
activities during a 14-month overhaul at Northwest Marine Iron Works in Portlan
d OR. Other duties included Asroc High Security Key holder, PRP member, Duty Wea
pons Officer inport, Command Nalco Flight coordinator and ships 3-M coordinator.
Awarded a Second Navy Achievement Medal. A member of the PRP program with a Se
