Student Printing Multifunction Copier Overview

The Adler School of Professional Psychology has implemented a number of high-end networked multi-function printer/copier/scanner devices that support its core high-volume printing needs. This includes two machines that print high-quality color laser output in addition to five machines that output in black/white format. Page Setup Tab This tab allows you perform a variety of page layout and marking functions.

Profile: You can set up customized profiles (i.e., print double-sided, stapled in upper left hand corner with Confidential watermark). You can use the Add or Edit command buttons to add or edit profile settings as needed:

Watermark: Allows the addition of a watermark (i.e. Confidential) in your document. The Edit Watermark option allows you to add customized watermark options to your selection:

Finishing Tab This tab allows you perform a variety of page finishing functions (i.e, one-sided, two-sided, collated, stapled, etc.).

Print Style: You can select from a number of different print styles including 1-sided printing, 2-sided (front-toback) printing, or booklet printing:

Finishing: You can select from a variety of print options based on your needs, including: Collate (default selection) two copies of a three page document will order to print pages 1,2,3 and 1,2,3 Group two copies of a three page document will order pages to print 1,1 and 2,2 and 2,3 Group and collate will group print output as referenced above

Scanning a Document to Flash Drive The Canon multi-function devices allow you to scan a document to a removable flash (USB) drive. This provides you with the ability to quickly generate an electronic version of a document and store it for subsequent use. Insert the flash drive into the copier USB port. The port will either be on the right front side of the copier or inside a connector access door on the copier front panel.

The 6055 model device has the USB port under an access door on the front panel.

Select the Main Menu button on the copier to display the full menu (please press the Power button to start up the screen if the screen is in energy saving mode. Select the Show All command on the main menu display to show all commands. Now, select the Scan and Store option:

You will be presented with the Scan and Store media destination screen. Tap the Memory Media button to select your installed flash drive:

The flash drive will be shown as Drive A:. Tap this location to display its contents.

You can navigate through the folder structure of your flash drive to select the scan destination location. Using the Folder Operations command, you can create a new folder as necessary. With the appropriate destination location selected, tap the Scan button:

The system is now ready to scan your document. You can now enter the file name that you will want to assign the scanned file. Note that you can change the file format, resolution, color ratio, and other settings as necessary:

Enter the file name that you want to assign the scanned file:

The green LED in the device Start button will light when the system is ready to scan. Press the Start button to proceed.

Printing Content from a Flash Drive The Canon multi-function devices allow you to print most document types directly from a flash drive connected to the device itself. No computer is required to print from a flash (USB) drive. Insert the flash drive into the copier USB port. The port will either be on the right front side of the copier or inside a connector access door on the copier front panel (refer to the process referenced in scanning to a Flash drive above). Select the Main Menu button on the copier to display the full menu (please press the Power button to start up the screen if the screen is in energy saving mode. Select the Show All command on the main menu display to show all commands. Now, select the Scan and Store option:

Select the Access Stored Files option and select Memory Media to access the Flash drive:

Tap the Flash drive (Drive A:)

Now, please select the appropriate paper try or tap OK for the default selection:

You can now select the Start Printing option to begin your print job:

Removing the Flash (USB) Drive from the Copier When you are ready to remove the device from the copier, you must eject it with Eject function. From any display, tap the Eject button to access the drive ejection function:

Tap the Memory Media (A:) selection to select your Flash drive and select the Remove button:
