n its infancy, the internet
was exclusively a place for
computer specialists and
the government; it was rarely
used for anything other than
informational or business pur-
poses. As it became more pop-
ular, though, the internet
started to gain traction in pop-
culture, and soon enough, it
was used by nearly every com-
puter user on the planet.
Now in 2011, the inter-
net is no longer an infant. Its
a full-grown monolith that is
the cornerstone of enterprise
and communication in the
modern world. In an age
where the internet has such
vast and widespread popularity
with the masses, the most pop-
ular services have been the
ones which are social. Social
networking sites like Twitter,
Facebook, and Foursquare
have grown to be so outra-
geously popular because
theyre not focused on a prod-
uct or theme, but on the indi-
vidual. Naturally, users want
to define themselves as indi-
viduals on these sites by post-
ing pictures, thoughts, plans,
and even their exact where-
abouts. If someone were to
view that information without
permission ten years ago, it
would be considered a com-
plete invasion of privacy. Now,
though, social network users
are more than willing to share
personal data with not only
their friends, but acquain-
tances and oftentimes even
strangers.
People have really got-
ten comfortable not only shar-
ing more information and
different kinds, but more
openly and with more people.
That social norm is just some-
thing that has evolved over
time, Mark Zuckerberg,
founder and CEO of Face-
book, asserted when ques-
tioned about his stance on
internet privacy. Whether the
internet cultures openness is a
good or bad thing, its cer-
tainly undeniable. The Onion,
a satirical online news outlet,
jokes that the CIA is behind
Facebook, and that the
amount of information users
share on the social network is
truly a dream come true for the
CIA. While The Onions
comical depiction of the pro-
lific amount of information
openly shared on the internet
may be hilarious, its shock-
ingly true. Personal informa-
tion was something that was
once almost completely pri-
vate, but is now shared will-
ingly by millions of social
network users.
So is now the end of the
road for privacy? Should we
just forget every notion of it,
and settle for complete trans-
parency? Thankfully, the an-
swer is no. Nobody is being
forced to share information
with anybody. The key thing
to remember when using a so-
cial network is to be selective
when sharing.
On almost every social
networking site existing, pri-
vacy settings can be tweaked
to fit a users needs. On Twit-
ter, its a private-or-public sys-
tem in which tweets are either
shared with everyone or only
friends. More complex net-
works like Facebook allow
users to be truly discerning
when picking who they share
with. You can select what you
want to share with who you
want to share it with. If you
post a pictures, they can be se-
lectively available to only
those you choose, and so on.
One core component of pri-
vacy is making sure your set-
tings are fine-tuned to your
liking.
But even privacy settings
can only go so far. When
youre posting something to a
site, youre still liable for that

information within the group
you share with. Its easy to for-
get youve given a coworker, or
even a boss, privileges to view
all of your photos, statuses,
and other bits of information
you might not want them to
see. Its important to remem-
ber that your privacy settings
probably dont have you cov-
ered in every way you want
them to. In reality, its just as
much about being conserva-
tive with what you share as it
is about tweaking privacy set-
tings. Dont be too willing to
put up personal information
without being perfectly certain
that nobody who you wouldnt
want to see it can see it.
Yes, this technologically
advanced age is centered
around sharing information
with friends and strangers.
The most crucial component
of that sharing is discerning
what and what not to share.
Whether thats through tight-
ening privacy settings, or by
just being more conservative
when posting, youre the one
who has control over what you
share.

f you have lower back
pain, you are not alone.
Spine pain is the sec-
ond most frequent pain com-
plaint. It occurs in 65 to 80
percent of the population at
one time or another, and can
be disabling and frightening.
Its costs to society are great.
Its the most common cause of
job-related disability and a
leading contributor to missed
work. In fact, Americans
spend at least $50 billion
each year to treat low back
pain. A majorcause of back
pain is facet joint arthropa-
thy.
Now, a radiofrequency
procedure using heat is burn-
ing the pain away. Radiofre-
quency ablation is an
outpatient procedure that
takes about 30 minutes to
perform and the recovery pe-
riod is around 20 minutes.
This procedure is a safe, non-
surgical treatment, and the
risks for complications are
low.
Prior to performing a ra-
diofrequency procedure, facet
joint pain as the cause of back
pain can be determined by a
facet joint injection. This is
called a diagnostic injection,
meaning the doctor uses it to
help make a diagnosis. The
physician using x-ray guid-
ance will inject the facet
joint(s) in question with a
small amount of a combina-
tion of local anesthetic and
cortisone. Relief of the acute
or chronic problem while the
joint is numb indicates that
you will likely have a good re-
sponse to radiofrequency ab-
lation.
Radiofrequency ablation
uses radio waves to produce
heat to destroy the nerve(s)
carrying the pain signals from
the facet joint. Once the
nerves carrying pain sensa-
tion from the joints are de-
stroyed, your pain should be
reduced. This should allow
you to do more activity, and
decrease your pain medica-
tions.
Both facet injections
and radiofrequecny ablation
procedures are covered under
commercial plans, workers
compensation and no fault
(PIP). New Jersey Pain Care
Center accepts most major
insurance plans, including
workers compensation and no
fault (PIP).
Specialty trained physi-
cian, Dr. Amr Hosny, per-
forms diagnostic facet
injections and radiofrequency
ablation on a regular basis.
Dr. Hosny discusses and de-
signs a treatment plan that
best fits the need of the pa-
tient suffering from acute or
chronic pain. The goal is to
help the patient restore max-
imum function and manage
the pain.
Amr Hosny, MD, MBA,
currently serves as the Med-
ical Director of New Jersey
Pain Care Center and New
York Pain Care. Dr. Hosnys
training includes the comple-
tion of an Anesthesiology res-
idency at St. Lukes Roosevelt
Hospital Center, Columbia
University, in New York City.
He then completed an Inter-
ventional Pain Medicine fel-
lowship at Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center,
Harvard Medical School, in
Boston, MA.
Dr. Hosny is an Associate
Professor of Anesthesiology at
New York Medical College,
and is triple board certified in
Interventional Pain Medicine,
Anesthesiology, as well as
Hospice and Palliative Medi-
cine. He has lectured exten-
sively on topics ranging from
spinal cord stimulation for neu-
ropathic pain and complex re-
gional pain syndrome, to phar-
macological approaches for
chronic pain. New Jersey

amily vacations are a tra-
dition for millions of
families across the globe.
Such vacations have declined
in number over the last several
years, when many families were
forced to cut expenses in the
midst of a struggling economy.
Though the economy has
gradually begun to rebound,
families with fresh memories
are still reticent to commit to
costly vacations. One of the
more affordable and family-
friendly vacation options is
camping. Families get the
chance to experience some of
natures most idyllic settings at
a fraction of the cost of expen-
sive resort vacations. But be-
fore venturing out in the great
outdoors, a family should con-
sider the following tips to en-
sure their camping vacation is
a swimming success.
Research the weather. Before
choosing a campsite, get a firm
grasp of what to expect from
Mother Nature while youre
there. Research weather pat-
terns and how much the
weather can vary during the
time of year when you will be
vacationing. Does the weather
fluctuate significantly during
the daytime and nighttime
hours? Is rain likely or unlikely?
Weather conditions will dic-
tate which gear is necessary for
the trip, and families might
want to avoid campgrounds
that are frequented by rain.
Adults might be able to cope
with a rainstorm or two, but
such conditions may make

understand ways to reduce
their energy costs without
sacrificing comfort. Its a first
of its kind.
One of the key factors
preventing most people from
going solar is the misconcep-
tion that its expensive and
has a long payback, Ferraro
says. Current paybacks can
range from about 4 6 years
with most Return on Invest-
ments close to 20%. And we
help people understand that
it is an investment, as op-
posed to a home improve-
ment, as there is an ongoing
revenue stream from the day
the system goes live.
Ferraro gives an example
of a financing option where
the customer has no out of
pocket expenditures and gets
a payback of 5 years, and is
cash positive in year 1. And
the systems are warranted for
25 years, and typically last
much longer. Combining
that with a 30% Federal In-
come Tax Credit and its a
winning investmentwith-
out the risk associated with
most other investments.
During the Grand Open-
ing Celebration, all in-stock
retail products will be priced
at 20% below regular pricing.
Ferraro says this is our way of
letting people know were ex-
cited about our new store.
This store is a trusting envi-
ronment where you can see
what youre buying and the
people youre buying it from.
In this age of fast paced sell-
ing from telemarketers and
internet sales, we believe the
personal touch and local pres-
ence is important!

ood patio furni-
ture can be a dec-
orative and func-
tional addition to outdoor liv-
ing. The longevity of the fur-
niture and the upkeep
required will depend heavily
on the type of wood used in
construction. Choosing the
right wood based on use and
budget can help consumers
get more for their money.
Many consumers are se-
lecting natural wood patio
furniture over resins, plastic
and metal options. Although
it seems a simple purchase,
when faced with the multi-
tude of woods and designs
available, shoppers can be
easily confused. Learning
about the different species of
wood commonly used in fur-
niture crafting can make de-
termining why one table is
$1,000 and the other is dou-
ble the price.
Pine: Pine is a
household name
and a common
component of
many building
products and fur-
niture. Pines pop-
ularity could stem
from its availabil-
ity and affordabil-
ity. The fact that
it is often har-
vested locally
helps keep prices
down. Pine as an
untreated wood is
susceptible to rot
and may not be as
durable as other
woods. Very often
pine is pressure-
treated to improve
its durability and
performance. The
light color of pine enables it
to be stained or painted in a
variety of shades.
Teak: Another familiar type
of wood, teak is resilient,
dense and straight-grained,
making it a very stable choice
for outdoor furniture. Without
preservative, teak will weather
to a gray color and still remain
highly resistant to decay
even up to 50 years. Thanks to
that durability, teak is typi-
cally among the more expen-
sive options.
Cedar: Cedar is a rapidly re-
newable resource thanks to it
being a quick grower. That
can make cedar an attractive
choice to those who are inter-
ested in going green with their
patio furniture choices. An-
other advantage to cedar is its
resistance to weather and in-
sects. Cedar satchels are often
used in closets to keep moths
and other bugs away.
Redwood: Another softwood,
redwood is also harvested do-
mestically from the Pacific
Northwest, British Columbia
and California. Although it is
highly resistant to rot and ter-
mites, it will need to be pro-
tected annually with an
oil-based stain, sealer and pre-
server.
Roble: A wood native to
South America, roble is a
dense, strong and lightweight
wood. Darker shades of the
wood are more resist-
ant to decay. A preser-
vative oil should be
used every six months
to maintain its beauty.
Jarrah: Another exotic
sounding wood, jarrah
is harvested mostly
from government-man-
aged forests in Aus-
tralia. While this wood
is naturally resistant to
insects and rot, it is
also fire-resistant, mak-
ing it a safe option. It,
too, is one of the more
durable woods, lasting
up to 50 years even
without oiling or stain-
ing. It is one of the
pricier options in out-
door furniture thanks
to these properties.
Cypress: This is a popu-
lar wood for wood garden fur-
niture because it resists decay
and cracking very well. Cy-
press has a distinctive yellow-
ish-red color that many
people find attractive, but it
can also be painted if desired.
Brazilian Cherry: Many peo-
ple may think of this wood
only for kitchen cabinet appli-
cations, but Brazilian cherry is
dense and naturally weather-
resistant. This makes it a fine
choice for garden furniture. It
is also used in playground
equipment and decking.
Alder: Alder is a hard wood
that is valued for its strength
and durability and is related to
the birch family. It is appreci-
ated for its honey-hued tone
and beauty.
Balau: Balau is a very dense
wood that is tightly grained

River. The 500 of 8,000 orig-
inal acres, which George
Washington called home dur-
ing the signing of the Decla-
ration of Independence, the
Revolutionary War and all
the beginnings of America
has been preserved for the
public to enjoy. The charm-
ing estate now offers 20 struc-
tures and 50 acres of gardens
unchanged since 1799, the
tombs of George and Martha
Washington, as well as a
walking tour through the
18th century home. See the
original artisanship that
wowed young and old alike in
the entertaining dining room
and parlor. Go further to the
rear of the home and experi-
ence the gorgeous sweeping
view of the Potomac River,
then enter back into the
modest side of the home
where the staircase ascends
up to the family bedrooms.
Discover artifacts from the
18th century lives of the
Washington family that have
been safely preserved in the

and rich in tropical oils and
resins. It has been used for
shipbuilding, heavy-duty fur-
niture and heavy construction
and coveted for its excellent
strength and weather-resistant
qualities. It is very strong and
heavy, making it one of the
sought-after choices in out-
door wood furniture materials,
driving up the price.
Although many types of
wood patio furniture can be
kept outdoors and remain
durable, its recommended
that homeowners cover or
take in wood furniture when
the season ends. This limits
the chance of weather-related
damage and cuts down on the
amount of cleaning and main-
tenance that may need to be
done.
Many homeowners find
that wood patio furniture pro-
vides the beauty and comfort
they desire for outdoor enter-
taining. Very often wood
items can be low-mainte-
nance, affordable and envi-
ronmentally friendly.

INJURY: Trauma to the neck
must be treated appropriately,
beginning with an accurate di-
agnosis. Accurate diagnosis of
neck trauma, whether it was the
result of a car accident, fall,
sports or some other injury,
should always include x-ray. X-
ray is used to assess the struc-
tural condition of the spine,
including the cervical curve.
Abnormal curves in the cervi-
cal spine are major contributors
to chronic neck pain, headache
and other neck related prob-
lems. Chiropractic treatment
has been shown to correct or
improve abnormal spinal
curves.
STRESS: We all must deal
with stress in our lives. How we
deal with it determines the level
of tension we feel, and this can
play a significant role in
whether or not we experience
neck related symptoms. To help
us cope with stress more effec-
tively, several behavior or atti-
tude adjustments may be
beneficial. Exercise moderately
three to for times a week for
about 45 minutes. Make ade-
quate sleep and a healthy diet
priorities. Maintain balance in
your life between work and play,
and in your relationships. Keep
life in perspective. See the
lighter side of situations. Seek
and express humor.

Celebrate Dads Day with a delicious meal
Treat Dad to a delicious grilled steak meal for Fathers Day.
A
tiered wedding cake
is often a fitting con-
clusion to a wedding
reception. Todays brides and
grooms are experimenting with
cake flavors and designs so
their cake is a unique represen-
tation of their persona as a
couple.
Its no longer necessary to
stick with a white cake with
buttercream frosting for your
wedding day. Think about ex-
ploring other flavor and filling
combinations that will tempt
the guests taste buds. For those
who cant settle on just one fla-
vor, how about having a differ-
ent flavor for each layer?
Couples getting married
in the fall may want to think
about a spice cake that evokes
the feelings of sipping a mug of
spiced cider. Cream cheese
frosting is often a pairing with
spice cake, or think about a
layer of caramel that will make
it taste like youre enjoying a
candied Halloween apple.
A hummingbird cake may
fit the bill for a spring wedding.
This is made with mashed ba-
nanas, pineapples and chopped
pecans. This cake is perfect
when paired with cream
cheese frosting.
Yellow or white cake are
universal favorites for wed-
dings. Some pizzazz can be
added through the use of cre-
ative fillings. Consider some-
thing citrusy and summery for
a summer wedding. Raspberry
preserves or lemon curd are
tart and sweet. For a tropical
flair, mangoes or passion fruit
can be mixed with touches of
coconut.
A winter wedding can be
accented with rich flavors, like
a decadent chocolate cake
filled with chocolate
ganache and black
cherries in a
black forest style.
Those toasting to
the good life may
want an almond
cake enhanced with
some fine liqueur
and simple choco-
late buttercream.
Couples should
sit down with their
baker and sample a
number of flavor
combinations to de-
termine a recipe
that works for them.
Pastry compa-
nies also may be
able to develop a
cake that encom-
passes a couples favorite fla-
vors or symbolizes a special
moment in their lives. A
Boston Cream Pie-inspired
cake may liven up the wedding
of a couple who became en-
gaged in Boston. Maybe a can-
noli cream filled cake will
usher in memories of a trip to
Italy. Kids at heart can enjoy
candy confection cakes filled
with gooey chocolate, nuts and
marshmallows.
Whatever the case, cou-
ples can use their cake as a
centerpiece that wows the
senses of taste as well as vision.
Consider displaying this culi-
nary masterpiece on a table
with the seating cards placed
around it so that it can be en-
joyed the entire night.
