Note: Candidates should use only one OMR application even if he/she opts for both the posts. 4. GENERAL INFORMATIONS:A. The rule of reservation of appointments is applicable to each post separately. B. In G.O.Ms.No.145, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (S) Department, dated 30.09.2010, the Government have issued orders to fill up 20% of all vacancies in direct recruitment on preferential basis to persons studied in Tamil Medium. C. Candidates who claim reservation with reference to orders issued in the above G.O. should enclose evidence in support of their claim from the Institution where they have studied the prescribed qualifications. Applications submitted without evidence for PSTM (PSTM-Persons Studied in Tamil Medium) will not be considered for the above said reservation. However the turn for PSTM does not arise.

D. The number of vacancies advertised is only approximate and is liable to modification with reference to vacancy position at any time before finalisation of selection for Oral Test. E. If no qualified and suitable woman candidates are available for selection against the vacancies reserved for them, those vacancies will be filled by male candidates belonging to the respective communal categories. F. CERTIFICATE OF PHYSICAL FITNESS:Candidates selected for appointment to the posts will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness in the form prescribed for Executive Post. The Standard of Vision prescribed for the post is Standard-III. G. There is no reservation for Differently Abled persons. The Differently Abled persons should produce along with the application a copy of certificate of physical fitness specifying the nature of physical handicap and the degree of disability based on the norms laid down, from the Medical Board to the effect that his/her handicap will not render him/her incapable of efficiently discharging the duties attached to the post. H. Reservation to Destitute Widows and Ex Servicemen will not apply for this recruitment. I. Even after filling up of the posts reserved for SC Arunthathiyars on preferential basis, if more number of qualified Arunthathiyars are available, they shall be entitled to compete with the Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars in the inter-se merit among them and if any posts reserved for Arunthathiyars remain unfilled for want of adequate number of qualified candidates, it shall be filled up by Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars. J. Any claim relating to the selection (not related to candidature or/and claims made in the application) should be received within 90 days from the date of announcement of results. Claims received thereafter will receive no attention. 5. QUALIFICATIONS: (A) AGE (as on 01.07.2011) 1) Minimum age limit : Should have completed 18 years (for all candidates) 2) Maximum age limit: Should not have completed 35 years. Note: (i) No maximum age limit for SCs/SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs(OBCM)s, BCMs and DWs of all castes who have passed PTC/PUC/HSC/DIPLOMA/ Degree. (ii) The maximum age limit will be increased by 5 years in respect of candidates belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs and Destitute Widows of all castes and 2 years in respect of candidates belonging to MBCs/DCs, and BCs, (OBCM) and BC(M)s who possess the Minimum General Educational Qualification. (iii) Age relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit will be applicable to persons affected by the ban order, as per the orders issued by the Government. (iv) Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC/DCs, BCs (Other than BCMs) and BCMs (i.e. others) who have put in five years of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible to apply for the posts even if they are within the age limit.

The Technical and Non-Technical Staff of TANSI who are facing retrenchment and have not been absorbed in the Government Corporations / Undertakings may also apply (evidence to be produced), if they satisfy all the prescribed qualifications except age. The relevant age rule will be relaxed by the Government in their favour if they come up for selection. (B) Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification on the date of this Notification, viz. 16.05.2011: (1) A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering or Automobile Technology of any University or Institution recognised by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grants. or (2) A post Diploma in Automobile Engineering of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or of any recognised Institution or Board with experience for a period of not less than two years in a supervisory capacity in an automobile workshop. Explanation:(i) An Automobile workshop shall mean an Automobile workshop satisfying the definition of factory in section 2 (m) of the Factories Act, 1948. (ii) Factory shall mean factory as defined in section 2 (m) of the Factories Act, 1948. Note: (1) Every person appointed to the post of General Foreman / Technical Assistant should obtain a driving licence to drive heavy transport vehicles within the period of probation. (2) (i) The qualification, prescribed for this post, should have been obtained (the required degree courses) in the order of studies by passing the 10th, HSC, Bachelors degree, etc. (ii) Persons claiming equivalence of qualification should enclose evidence for such claim, failing which their application will be summarily rejected 6. Note :(i) Candidates should specify in column 22 under the heading optional subject-1 of their application form the subject in which they wish to answer. They should choose only the subject in which they have obtained the qualification. (ii)The existing syllabi for the above subjects under Paper-I (10 Units) and Paper-II (10 Units) have been clubbed together and constituted as a Single Syllabus (20 Units). A single question paper in the said syllabus is to be answered by the Candidates. The said question paper will be set in English only. The syllabi are also available in the Commissions Website at www.tnpsc.gov.in 7.CENTRE FOR EXAMINATION: Examination will be held at CHENNAI only (Code No.001). The Commission reserves the right to increase the number of examination centre and to re-allot the candidates. 8.EXERCISING OF OPTIONS:Candidate who opts to apply for both the posts should specify the post code numbers in Column 24 of the OMR application form as per his / her preferential order. This order of preference for posts will be subject to the order of selection mentioned in para 9 (b). If a candidate has not opted for any of these posts he/she will be considered for the post in the order as specified in para-1 of the notification. 9. (a) PROCEDURE OF SELECTION:Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral Test in the shape of an interview. (For further details please refer paragraph 22(b) of the Instructions, etc., to candidates). (b) Order of Selection (i) The selection will be made for the posts in the order as specified in para-1 of the Notification. (ii) In this sequential selection for these two posts, a candidate once selected for a post will not be considered for the other post. (iii) While finalising the selection, the option exercised by the candidates in column 24 of the OMR application will be taken in to account. 10. EXAMINATION FEE:- Rs.100/- (One Hundred Only) (For further details refer para 2 under part -Ill of the Information Brochure and for Examination fee concessions refer para 12 of the Instructions, etc., to candidates'). Candidates (other than those who apply Online) should inform the Counter Clerk of the Post Office their OMR application Number for obtaining the Postal Receipt. Note: All candidates should pay Rs.12/- (Rupees twelve only) as service charge to the Post Office while obtaining the postal receipt.

11. ENCLOSURES TO BE SENT ALONG WITH APPLICATION:(i) Candidates, in support of their claim, should enclose attested copies of certificates including evidence for SSLC, HSC, Degree, Post Diploma, certificate of having experience for a period of not less than two years in a supervisory capacity in an automobile workshop possessed by them if applicable and also evidence for Tamil Medium from the Institution where they have studied the prescribed qualification as mentioned in para 15 of the Commissions Instructions etc. to candidates and item 26 under part II of Information Brochure along with a Postal receipt to the value of Rs.100/(Rupees One hundred only) pasted in the column provided in the application, unless exemption of fee is claimed. Original Certificates should not be sent. Those applying Online please refer para 14 (C) of this Notification / Advertisement. (ii) Candidates should shade column 23, 23(a) and 23(c) of the OMR compulsorily. If yes, full details should be enclosed in a separate paper.

12. NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE: For details please refer to paragraph 15(g) of the Commissions Instructions, etc. to Candidates. 13. CONCESSIONS:Concessions in the matter of age and/or qualification and/or fees allowed to SCs / SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs(OBCM), BCMs, Destitute Widows, Ex-Servicemen, DA persons, other categories of persons etc. are given in the Commissions 'Instructions, etc. to candidates'. 14. ISSUE OF APPLICATION FORMS: a) OMR application form along with an INFORMATION BROCHURE containing, Commissions Instructions, etc. to candidates and an envelope for sending application can be obtained from any one of the HEAD POST OFFICES or Selected Sub- Post Offices (285 Nos.) in Tamil Nadu including Alagappapuram-Sivaganga/ Puducherry and also from the Sales Counter of the office of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, on all the working days till the closing date upto 5.00 p.m. (Excluding lunch interval between 1.30 to 2.00 p.m.) on payment of Rs.30/- (Rupees Thirty only). (The list showing the names of Post Offices is available in the Commissions Website at www.tnpsc.gov.in.) Application forms will not be supplied to the candidates by Post. b) Candidates should use only the OMR application form. No other typed or printed or Xeroxed / Photocopy of the application form will be accepted and such application, if any received, will be summarily rejected. c) Candidates can also avail of the facility of applying Online on the Commissions Website at www.tnpsc.gov.in Candidates applying Online should possess and keep ready Postal receipt for Rs.130/- (i.e. Application fee Rs.30/- + and Examination fee Rs. 100/-) and those claiming fee exemption should possess Postal receipt for Rs.30/- obtained from any one of the Head Post Offices / selected Sub- Post Offices, listed in Annexure-III of the Information Brochure before registering Online. The Postal receipt for Application Fee/ Examination Fee should be pasted in the space provided in the application. Candidates applying Online shall also abide by the Commissions instructions laid down in this Notification / Advertisement/Commissions Instructions etc. to candidates/ Information Brochure. The facility of applying Online will be closed on 13.06.2011

at 5.45.p.m. (for details please refer para 1 of the Commissions Instructions etc. to candidates). 15. RECEIPT OF APPLICATION:(A) Candidates are advised to verify the following aspects also before sending their filled in OMR applications to the Commissions office: (i) Signature by the candidate below the declaration in Ballpoint pen or fountain pen only. Failure to sign will entail rejection of his/her application. (ii) Columns 1, 1(a), 3, 4, 14 (b), 14(d),22 and 24 in the OMR application form should be filled up based on the details available in this Notification / Advertisement. (B) Filled in applications (OMR/Online application i.e. printout generated from the website duly signed by the Candidate) must be sent to the Controller of Examinations, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, No.1, Greams Road, Chennai 600 006 well in advance so as to reach the Commissions Office before 5.45 P.M. on 15.06.2011.
