Extreme environmental events and high vulnerability to climate change Low agricultural productivity, poor land use and low cropping intensity Low productivity of Rabi crops and little high value crops cultivation Predominance of small and landless farmers Intrusion of saline water, water logging and occasional breaches of embankment Higher rates of poverty and malnutrition

Technological break through for increasing productivityproductivity- New varieties and breeds, plant and animal health systems, Farmers Field School (FFS) Seasonal and occasional quality surface water available for irrigation Agricultural productivity enhancement through postincreased cropping intensity, reducing post-harvest losses, modeling of climate events and options of crop diversification

Enabling local preparedness and flood protection works and modeling under extreme climatic events Major opportunities exist for boosting production of crops, fisheries, farm animal and homestead agro-forestry Opportunities to expand market linkages and agribusiness with construction of the Padma bridge Development of alternative income generation program

to provide a road map for an integrated development effort in Bangladeshs coastal zone aiming at
Increased agricultural productivity and sustainable food security, Poverty reduction and Alternate livelihood development for the poor

Increasing production and productivity of crops, fisheries, livestock and agroforestry Identifying niches for quick agricultural transformation towards sustainable diversification Improving water management Suggesting climate change adaptation plan for the region on agriculture and food BCCSAPsecurity in line with BCCSAP-2009

Cont..
postReducing post-harvest losses and promotion of agroprocessing and value chain management Identifying PPP in agribusiness development, creating of employment and alternate income generating economic growth in rural areas Creating alternate development scenarios towards investment plan of the region
