3 Clause 10.2 heading

For "RCC ROOF SLABS" Read "RCC ROOF SLABS (flat or with s l o ~ e 1:40)" Delete the existing clause in toto and insert as under in lieu: "10.2 A Manqalore Pattern Roofinq Tiles: Mangalore pattern roofing tiles shall be provided over RCC slab as per details shown on drawings and specified here in after at Yol Camp.
10.2.A.1 Refer clause Nos 11.5 t o 11.6.2 & 11.25 srl on . page No 222 of SSR Part I Mangalore pattern roofing tiles shall be class 'AA', confirming t o t h e requirements of IS654:1972. Ridge tiles for the use with mangalore pattern roofing tiles shall also be class 'AA', confirming t o IS1464: 1992. The tiles shall be o f uniform colour free from irregularities & impurities. 'The thickness of tile shall not be less then 10 mm. 10.2A.2 The t o p RCC surface of roof slab shall be plastered with 1 0 m m thick cement mortar 1:4 mixed with water proofing compound. The tiles shall be laid over RCC roof slab on cement mortar band as shown on drawings. The tiles shall be laid from the eaves toward the ridge properly interlocking according t o t h e design of t h e tile. The tiles shall be laid by breaking joints, i.e. the left channel of t h e upper tile shall lie in t h e right channel of the below & shall fit closely one t o another, the catches resting fully against battens. Row shall be even, straight & parallel t o the ridges. The hips & ridges of t h e roof shall be covered with t h e ridge tiles, which shall be edge bedded i n the cement mortar (1:4), finished with pointing t o match with colour of tiles. At eaves, the lowest most courses of the tiles shall overhang t h e tilting fillet b y a distance sufficient t o ensure that t h e rainwater discharges clear off t h e eaves. Eaves tiles shall be screwed t o roof elements by means of G I screws of adequate size with G I & bitumen washeys fixed in the crest between channels of eaves tiles. 10.2A.3 The loints between hip & ridge tiles shall be grouted with water proof cement mortar so as t o be leak proof. I n case o f chimney stacks & similar features, full tiles shall be used around then & taken into the masonry. Unless otherwise shown on drawings cement concrete (13234)- -benching shall be provided t o cover the intersection between tiles & masonry. The gable ends of RCC roof slab vertical band using t y p e B concrete as O shown on drawings t o make the sides water proof. 10.2A.4 Tiles required t o be pointed, plastered or set in cement concrete/ mortar shall be soaked in water f o r twc hrs before use and kept well watered f o r a t least seven days after laying & application of the mortar."
