Africa1Aid, Extremism and No peace The Muslim Community of South Africa is planning to drive a convoy from South Africa

to Gaza as well as a flotilla from Durban harbour to Gaza. This is in conjunction with flights of protestors from South Africa to Gaza. Their stated purpose is: To create an awareness in Africa of the plight of the people of Gaza To assume responsibility for the humanitarian struggle for freedom in Gaza; An outreach initiative to the people of Africa To provide humanitarian aid to the People of Gaza Let us ignore the environmental impact for the time being and deal with the issue of sustaining and supporting an Islamist Government in the form of Hamas. Firstly Hamas has been in full control of Gaza since seizing power from Fatah. This happened after Israel pulled out all of its citizens and soldiers from Gaza in 2005. Hamas proceeded with its terror campaign because Hamas is an Islamofacist organisation whose singular aim is the destruction of a state not run by Muslims. Israel resisted the terror campaign firstly with non-violent means such as the blockade of Gaza. The purpose being to ensure that Hamas was prevented from re arming and attempting to convince them that violence is not the answer. This did not work; Israel was subsequently forced to defend her citizens and launched the 2008/9 operation into Gaza. Since then there has been a drastic decrease in the terror attacks emanating from Gaza. Israel will end the blockade when either of the following takes place. Firstly Hamas must annul their doctrine of hate based on religious beliefs, secondly Hamas must accept a non-Muslim states right to exists on previously Dar al Islam territory. Alternatively Hamas must step down from government and leave leadership to those who want peace and the creation of a Palestinian state that is not constantly at war with Israel. In what manner does the convoy help Gaza if it entrenches Hamas rule and ideology? Hamas is a selfproclaimed Islamic extremist organisation, that do not have any trace of liberal or democratic values. Hamas like the Nazis use democracy and liberal sentiments to achieve their own nefarious undemocratic anti-liberal goals. A perfect example of this is their use of the Palestinian elections to seize control of Gaza and hence set Gaza on the disastrous path it has taken since 2006. Secondly the convoy is driving the entire length of the most deprived, poverty stricken and war torn continent on earth, to deliver aid to the most aided group of people on earth today. There is not a single African refugee situation that has its own dedicated agency from the UN. Gaza receives by far the most amount of aid in dollar and real terms than any other population. Why are Muslims in Gaza more important than Animists in South Sudan? What about our neighbours in Zimbabwe?

If freedom in Gaza is their aim; is this referring to freedom from Hamas or freedom from the blockade? If its the later the only viable and most rational route is to support those that wish Hamas away from government. The only obstacle to Full freedom for Gaza is a government that does not include Islamic extremists who are hell bent on destruction of everything non-Muslim. When Hamas is gone Gaza WILL BE FREE. There is no reason why Gaza cannot prosper. In order to prosper Gaza will need a solution to the water crisis (link to the Nile river is very viable if Egypt are seriously willing to help Palestine.). In the future one can see a road and rail connection between Gaza and the West Bank and maybe just maybe economic and social interaction between hopefully peaceful neighbours. Neighbours can create free economic zones, ease of movement between states and various other forms of cooperation. BUT this can only happen if organisations such as Hamas have nothing to do with government. The road to peace in the Middle East can only be built on a foundation of democracy and liberal values. Hamas, Hezbollah, The Army of Islam, Al-Aqsa Martyr brigade, Jewish extremist (settlers mainly) must be made ineffectual and powerless against liberal values and democratic principles. The Africa1aid convoy serves to support and strengthen Hamas and others opposed to freedom. Support a free Palestine therefore do NOT support the convoy.
