SUMMARY

Many people feel the hours of study most important. However, students can study for hours on end and retain very little. Effective study habits are a very important part of the learning process. Good study habits are all about keeping to a daily routine and giving all subjects equal treatment. lf study habits are weak then student should take a Study Skill Course. Hard work and good study habits are assets that should be nurtured. Good habits are important for all students to protect investment of time, money and to achieve educational goals. Moreover, the study helps in understanding students problem and ways to build harmonious relationship between students and teacher. HYPOTHESES OF THE STUDY


1. There is no significant difference in study habits of secondary level male and female students belonging to Science stream. 2. There is no significant difference in study habits of secondary level male and female students belonging to Arts stream. 3. There is no significant difference in study habits of secondary level students belonging to Arts & Science stream.

DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY


y y y y The study is confined to study habits only. The study is limited to 140 students only. The study is restricted to Rohtak City only. The study is restricted to secondary school students only.

Sample "A sample is the representative proportion of the population." It is from the study of this sample that something is known and said about the whole population. The total sample for the study comprises of 140 students from seven schools in which two schools are government and five are private schools. From each school students has been taken as sample. The schools included in the sample are located in located in Rohtak.

TOOL USED
The investigator selected the study habit inventory prepared by M.N. Palsane and Sadhna Sharma for collecting the data pertaining to the problem.

For the analysis of data following Statistical Techniques are applied for the analysis of the data of values such as Mean, Standard deviation, S.ED and t-Value. MAIN FINDINGS:
The statistical analysis of data present in table helped in testing the various hypothesis formulated to realize the objectives of study. Followings are the brief findings: 1. There is no significant difference in study habits of male and female students of Arts stream of senior secondary schools of Rohtak city. Male and female students have similar reading habits of similar stream. 2. There is no significant difference in study habits of science stream students of senior secondary schools of Rohtak city. Science students have similar reading habits.

3. There is no significant difference in study habits of arts male and female students of senior secondary schools of Rohtak city. Arts male and female students have similar reading habits.

CONCLUSION:
From the above findings we can conclude that science and arts students have different study habits when all the eight areas of the study habits were taken into consideration. Students of Arts stream showed poor study habits in comparison to student of Science stream. It is also clear that male and female student of science stream have significantly superior study habits than male and female students of Arts stream. It was found that Arts students (male and female) are similar in areas like reading ability, physical conditions, budgeting time, and memory. In these areas, they are similar but they differ in areas like note making, learning factor, examination procedure. It was found that science student (male and female) are similar in areas like reading ability, physical conditions, budgeting time and memory. We can also infer that science and arts students are generally similar in study habits in study reading ability, physical conditions, budgeting time and memory.

SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER RESEARCH:


The present investigation is to carried out to study comparatively the student habits of science and arts students of Rohtak study. Some of suggestions for further research in the area are given below: 1. A comparative study can be done to compare the study habits of boys and girls of science and arts. 2. The study can also be done with more variables such as in relation to academic achievement, socio-economic status, intelligence, motivation, attitude etc. for more meaningful interpretation of the data.

3. The study can be conducted on a larger sample. As in this study 140 students form the sample, to study in more depth larger sample of 200 or more can be taken. 4. As the present study is considered in schools of Rohtak city only, similar study can be conducted in other cities and state level. 5. This study can be studied with the same variable as studied earlier in the abroad such as metacognition, study habits and attitudes and socialized personality, scholastic aptitudes, study habits, academic achievement: exploring the link.
