Committee: Historical General Assembly Topic: Apartheid in South Africa Country: Federal Republic of Nigeria.

School: Universidad Simn Bolvar (Venezuela).

Since the end of the Second World War human kind took upon itself the noble task to forge a new era of peace and security, collaboration among nations, and the respect of dignity and well being of all citizens of the international community. Thus, in all interest of good at heart, the United Nations was created in 1945, alongside The Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Beacons of hope that stands shinning bright among the barbaric acts of tyranny, senseless slaughter, and subjugation of man throughout history.
Comment [G1]: Does Nigeria uses the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for some things but rejects it for others? Are there any other declarations of human rights at the moment? Really, these are just questions Comment [G2]: This is not a new sentence There should be a coma or a semicolon or something. Comment [G3]: What is the purpose of this paragraph? Empathize with the reader? Remind people of things like the UN and Human Rights?

Yet here we stand united within these great halls, prepared to address a most regrettable problem, something which by all standards of international law and conventions should not be an issue within this new era.
Comment [G4]: This sentence doesnt feel like a new paragraph.

Since the beginning of this century the nefarious political system of South Africa has stood in defiance of all that is considered good. With a pathological idea in mind that closely resembles the one used by the Nazi Regime, it has produced numerous legal tools to carry out the racial segregation, and the trampling of the human rights and dignity of all black and colored citizens.

When commenting on one of the most controversial legislation passed by the South African government, The Bantu Education Act of 1953, Dr. Hendrik Verwoed, which was the appointed minister for natives affair at that time, said the following:
Comment [G5]: Shouldnt these two paragraphs be united?

There is no place for the Bantu in the European community above the level of certain forms of labor... What is the use of teaching the Bantu child mathematics when it cannot use it in practice? That is quite absurd. Education must train people in accordance with their opportunities in life, according to the sphere in which they live

With de eaning words like the afore entioned ones they have supported the enslave ent of the African and all colored citizens of the country What has this won for this govern ent? Only mild written words of condemnation but no true or meaningful punishment from the international
Co ent [ 6 ]: Really? What about the embargoes? The oil and the arms one? Whose are meaningful punishments! The difference is that the international community has not been committed to them.

If the United Nations and the entire world once proclaimed a special responsibility towards the

restricted or exiled for their struggle against Apartheid then why is this regime allowed to continue to flagrantly disregards both UN Charter and The International Convention on Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid? Why are some nations still maintaining economic relations with this country? In a world which appears to speaks of justice with such reverence the interests of the
Co ent [ 7 ]: This paragraph is really good. The whole concept and delivery match the position in an elegant way. The only thing I could comment is the rhetoric questions and the lack of Nigeria in the PP Maybe if you put one of those questions in a different matter and put your countrys name in an intelligent way would be awesome. Co ent [ 8 ]: You both went to the PS workshop Never state the negative part of an issue state it in a positive way. Nigeria has grown wise in the past few decades. Although I must admit it sounds a liiiiiittle bit arrogant if you dont state why; but if you feel this helps leave it. Co ent [ 9 ]: African initiatives for Africa?

The history of Nigeria may be short but we have grown wise in the little time of our existence As a young nation we have spearheaded the creation of many African initiatives for Africa like the creation of the Organization for African Unity and the Economic Community of West Africa State Monitoring Group It is our most heartfelt resolve to secure the peace and security for all citizen of Africa and the protection and restoration of its much deserved dignity We understand that the world is amidst an ideological quarrel but Nigeria wishes to take no part in such thing Therefore our aim during committee shall not be to which sphere of power we subscribe to but rather the topic at hand: securing

Co ent [ 0 ]: Again nice paragraph. If this was a speech rather than a written position I would write here what I said in the meeting: you need to be more engaging. Of course you can be and it could help your PP, but it is well written as it is as well. IF you want, pimp it a little bit.

The Republic of Nigeria will not stand idle as Africa's children fall prey to such unequal and unjust conditions. The treatment of all black and colored citizens as second class citizens or worse for that matter will not be acceptable. We are appalled when confronted with the news that black citizens are denied their access to equal forms of education medical services justice and free travel. Even more
