THOUGHTS ON THE WAY UP MOUNT CARMEL We are in the midst of Graduation Season. Even our preSchoolers and Kindergarten students at our parish school will be graduating. I will be attending our Kindergarten celebration for the first time. I am as excited as they are! Congratulations to our college and high school graduates and especially to the Eighth Grade class at our parish school. While I look forward to their Graduation Mass, we will miss all of them as they move on to high school. Thanks for 2 great years.! The Ladies Guild Communion Breakfast was very enjoyable. The Mens Council volunteers did a fine job serving and in the kitchen in payback for the Ladies Guild work on Palm Sunday. It was good to see so many multi-generational families represented among those attending and many familiar faces. Mary Ann Brown won the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and I won a great breakfast! I received an email from our electrical contractor that the new interiors for our church lighting fixtures have been shipped. Dave Andrzejewski, the Retirees and I will be meeting to put together a plan for installation. We hope that it can be done in two weeks from the arrival of the materials. Thanks to our volunteers and to those who will volunteer to complete this part of our church renovation. Some of you have already met Fr. John Beal who took up residence at Mount Carmel last Sunday. Please make a point of welcoming him to the parish as you see him at Mass and other parish events. I know that Ms. Antoske and Mrs. Franz are excited to have him here since they both met him when they taught at St. Johns a few years ago. Fr. John will return to Catholic University to teach summer classes and then back with us in July until the end of the year while working in the Marriage Tribunal. It is great to have him here and he arrived just in time to celebrate our 37th Anniversary of ordination this past week with our other classmates. Just make sure that you dont violate any provisions of Canon Law while hes here! I hope that you notice the announcement elsewhere in this bulletin on the events related to Deacon Jason Feighs upcoming ordination. All parishioners are invited to the Ordination Mass at St. Peters Cathedral on Friday, June 10 at 7:00 P.M. Jason will return home to Coalport to celebrate his first Mass at his home parish of St. Basil on June 12th. He will celebrate our 11:00 Mass on Sunday, June 19. A reception will follow in Scheffner Hall. All parishioners are invited to both. I hope that you will be involved in at least some of these events. Jason would be most pleased to see you there. Well, the school year is rapidly winding down with only 3 weeks left for the students at our parish school and many college students already home. I know that we are all looking forward to a relaxing summer, if it ever arrives. Have a great week and get ready to plant those gardens. After all, our local deer herd are looking rather hungry! Fr. Ray THE PRIESTS THANK YOU Last weekend, our parish took up an extra collection to support our retired diocesan priest fund. Despite these difficult economic times, we appreciate your generous response to share in the care of those faithful priests who have ministered to your spiritual needs. Your priests truly appreciate your support and thank you for contributing $1,260.32 to the Good Shepherd Collection for Diocesan Retired Priests.
