ONE ONE ONE EAGLE STREET WhAT is A DiAphrAgm WAll?

A diaphragm wall is an underground concrete structural element commonly used for retention systems and permanent foundation walls. They can also be used as deep groundwater barriers. in this case it is used as our permanent basement wall solution. Diaphragm walls are commonly referred to as D-Walls. The basement D-Wall/retention system for one one one Eagle street will be installed at ground level before excavation of the basement commences. D-Walls are commonly used in congested areas as they can be installed in close proximity to existing structures.
Step 2: Step 3: Step 1: 1: A guide wall is installed to set out the position of the D-Wall. A guide wall is a temporary concrete structure built either side of the D-Wall location and used to ensure that the panels are excavated vertically and in tolerance. 2: D-Wall construction begins with primary trenches being excavated in hit and miss (alternating) sections or panels. As each panel is excavated, the soil is replaced with a bentonite solution. Bentonite* is cementitious slurry, which exerts hydraulic pressure against the trench walls and acts as shoring to prevent collapse. 3: A crane places a pre-fabricated panel reinforcement cage through the bentonite slurry within the excavation. Step 4: 4: Concrete is poured into the panel to displace the bentonite slurry. This is done using one continuous operation through a tremie (funnel type pipe) that extends to the bottom of the excavation. The tremie pipes are extracted as the concrete rises; however, the discharge end of the tremie pipe always remains embedded in the fresh concrete.
