The Narmada river story: 1. Characters according to their offensive behavior:

Table number 1
1 Roshni 2 Vishnu 3 Pradip Patel 4 Ashok 5 Yadav 6 Laxman

1. Roshni :
I have ranked Roshni 1st in terms of offensive behavior because firstly to complete her own task she can go beyond the boundaries. In the story she kissed laxman in exchange of the ride to the opposite side of the river. But she loves Ashok on the other hand. This can be dangerous from the organizational point of view. Secondly she is spreading corruption by offering an extra bit of penny to Yadav while the actual fair is rs. 5/- for a round trip. But she is offering rs. 50/- for taking her to the other side of the river. This is also dangerous from organizational point of view. So according to me Roshni is the most reprehensible.

2. Vishnu :
I have ranked Vishnu 2nd in terms of offensive behavior because he is that kind of person who runs from his responsibilities. He did not take any kind of initiative in such a situation in the story. Instead of that he just stood aside off the situation by telling that it is between Roshni & Laxman and he do not want to interfere in that stuff. This is dangerous in organizational point of view.

3. Pradip patel :
the whole situation and listening to both sides he comes to a decision and started beating Ashok. This not an ideal behavior in an organization. As in an organization one need to be a good decision maker. It is not that by hearing one thing we come to a decision, rather we need to know the whole incident.

4. Ashok :
I have ranked ashok 4th in terms of offensive behavior because he takes his decisions in emotion, no matter what is the situation & the act is harmful or harmless for him. He takes decision by gaining knowledge about the situation but not by analyzing the situation.

5. Yadav :
I have ranked yadav 5th in terms of offensive behavior because he moves away from his responsibility and goal. His goal & responsibility was to carry food supplies to the other side of the river for some special friend. But by understanding roshnis situation he tried to grab the opportunity in the wrong way. So, we can say that he is a pure opportunist and can do anything for the shake of money. He can betray his organization any time for money as he was having the mentality to betray his friends for shake of money in the story.

6. Laxman :
According to me laxman is the least offensive character in this story. He expressed his feeling that he had for roshni. He wanted to kiss her once. But it is also not a fair thing to take opportunity of others bad situation.

2.Characters according to other 5 persons :

Analization of 1st person :

1. Ashok :
Ashok takes his decisions with emotions. He comes to know about an incident and without analyzing the situation in which the incident took place he reacts.

2. Yadav :
Yadav is a complete opportunist; he is that type of man who can do anything for the shake of money. He can betray anyone in any situation for the shake of money.

3. Laxman :
He is also a kind of opportunist; he takes opportunity of roshnis situation to fulfill his wishes. But the way he dose this is illegal as our social culture.

4. Vishnu :
He is an escapist who run from his responsibilities & do not takes any kind of initiatives in any situation.

5. Pradip patel :
He reacts on a scene without knowing the whole incident. He makes his own perceptions about the whole incident by visualising only a part of it & takes decisions.

6. Roshni :
She is the most innocent character in this story. She cannot control her feelings & reacts in emotion. She dose not think practically.

Analization of 2nd person: 1. Laxman :

He is that kind of man who knows how to take advantage of others bad situations & utilise it according to his wish.

2. Yadav :
He is very mean kind of person. He can do anything & everything for the shake of money. He can betray anyone for money.

3. Ashok :
He takes emotional decisions. He reacts on an incident without analyzing it. This reaction is good until when it is not harmful for anyone.

4. Pradip patel :
He is that kind of man who takes a decision or reacts on an incident depending on his own perception about the incident.

5. Vishnu :
He runs from his responsibility in critical situations. He remains inactive while others are in trouble.

6. Roshni :
The most innocent of the six in this story. She can not control her feelings & emotions.

Analization of 3rd person:

1. Ashok :
He reacts by not understanding others emotion on that particular action. He only thinks about himself & not the others. Altogether he is very selfish person.

2. Yadav :
He takes opportunity to others bad situations. He can forget about others pain, feelings & emotion for money.

3. Vishnu :
Those who think only of themselves & not the others are very dangerous. Vishnu is one of them. He do not want to take others responsibility and solve a situation.

4. Laxman :
He takes advantage of others bad situation & fulfils his wishes & his own requirements. He dose not care about others feelings.

5. Pradip patel:
He knows only money. The most valuable thing in the world is money over others feeling, emotions & cause.

6. Roshni :
She is a lady with full of emotions, and lack of practical thoughts. But she was the least according to offensive behaviour.

Analization of 4th person:

1. Yadav :
He is a great threat for an organization. He works for money. He only knows money.

2. Ashok :
He reacts in a wrong manner (by hitting) in a particular situation by considering the external factor and not considering the internal factor.

3. Pradip patel :
He reacts out of his own perceptions about an incident but that is also a wrong thing to do. He do not analyse a situation before reacting.

4. Roshni :
She can do anything to complete her work. She dose not think about the consequences of that action.

5. Vishnu :
He is unwilling to take any kind of responsibility. He dose not takes any initiatives to help others.

6. Laxman :
He just expressed his feelings towards roshni. He could understand the importance of the situation & tried to take advantage of that.

Analization of 5th person:

1. Laxman :
Our social & cultural boundaries dose not gives us the permission to behave like that with a lady. This is the main fault of laxman. He tried to take advantage of a lady in bad situation.

2. Ashok :
He dose not know how to behave with a lady. He is a selfish guy. He do not analyze the real situation, and only takes decision on the outlook of the incident.

3. Yadav :
He is very cruel in nature & knows only money. He can do anything for the shake of money.

4. Pradip patel :
Reaction by not knowing anything about the particular incident is the main fault of pradip patel.

5. Roshni :
She dose not know how to control her emotions, feelings, eagerness. She also can do anything to complete her work.

6. Vishnu :
His ignorance of taking responsibility is the one & only fault.

10

I have ranked Roshni in the 1st place but from the other 5 member of the group she has got much lower rank. Two has ranked her last, one at fourth &other one at 5th position. The main reason behind this kind of difference in rankings is they have considered either social factor or emotional factor in Roshnis character while I have considered the organisational aspect. In case of Vishnu two of the group member has ranked him 5th; one each at 3rd,4th & 6th. But I have ranked him 2nd by keeping organisational aspect. While others has considered the social & emotional factor according to which other characters are more offensive in nature than Vishnu. In case of Pradip Patel ranking was almost the same & the reasons also but the slightest difference in ranking was because of the factors taken into consideration. In case of Ashok the ranking was having a higher difference because again that factors taken into consideration comes. The behaviour most offensive in organisational aspect can be a moderate one in social & emotional aspect. In case of Yadav again the rankings were almost the same & the reasons also but the slightest difference in ranking was because of the factors taken into consideration. Again here the ranking of the group member differ a lot and the reason behind this is same.

Perception
Findings according to perception in the Narmada river story:
Roshnis character in the story is having consistency through out the story, so we were more inclined to the internal factor of her behaviour. That she was having an urgency to meet & know how are Ashok and his family. Vishnus behaviour in this story shows distinctiveness in nature. But his behaviour was an unusual one, so we take the external factor of his behaviour into consideration. That he dose not wants to take any kind of responsibility. Pradip Patels behaviour in this story shows consistency in nature. But his behaviour holds high consistency, so we attribute his behaviour as the internal cause. Ashoks behaviour in this story shows consensus in nature. But it is not highly consensus in nature so we attribute his behaviour as an internal cause. Yadavs behaviour in this story was truly distinctive in nature. But his behaviour was not an unusual one, so we attribute his behaviour as an internal cause. Laxmans behaviour in this story is distinctive in nature. But his behaviour was an unusual one, so we will attribute his behaviour as an external cause.

12

Attitude
Findings according to attitude in the Narmada river story:
Roshnis attitude in this story shows the affective component. Her attitude was that she loves Ashok a lot and could do anything to meet him. This was the emotional part related to Roshnis attitude. Vishnus attitude in this story shows the behavioural component as he was not ready to take any kind of responsibility. But the cognitive component of his behaviour was expected from him by Roshni. Pradip Patels attitude in this story shows the cognitive component as we see him in an opinion making state. But it was in a negative aspect as the situation of the story. Ashoks attitude in this story shows the affective component as he has got emotional in that particular situation of the story. Yadavs attitude in this story shows the behavioural component. He was having the intention to grab a particular opportunity irrespective of the problems that others are facing due to that behaviour. Laxmans attitude in this story shows the affective component. He was just expressing his feelings towards Roshni in this story.
