Bangalore,June17,2011:QuESTGlobal,adiversifiedglobalengineeringservicescompany,announces the winners of its annual national level intercollegiate engineering design contest QuEST Ingenium 2011.Thewinningteamsare: 1. FirstPrize(Rs1,00,000):TeamMNNITfromMotilalNehruNationalInstituteofTechnology, Allahabad 2. SecondPrize(Rs50,000):TeamSilverSpiritfromAmritaSchoolofEngineering,Coimbatore 3. ThirdPrize(Rs25,000):Sharedbetween a. TeamRageAgainsttheMachinefromJamiaMilliaIslamia,Delhi b. TeamALCEfromNehruInstituteofEngineering&Technology,Coimbatore The entries invited earlier this year were from final year B.E/B.Tech engineering students from core engineering domains such as Aerospace, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Power Generation and Production Engineering from across India. In all 123 entries from 56 colleges from 39 cities across 13 stateswerereceivedinthefirstphaseofthecontest.Afterastringentprocessofevaluation,10short listedteamswereinvitedtoQuESTpremisesinBangaloretopresenttheirprojectstoanindependent jury.ThejudgesfortheeventwereProf.BalakrishnanfromIISc,Mr.BalajiParthasarathy,andManager Technology,Oil&GasatGEandMr.RavishankarMysore,VicePresident,Goodrich. Theprojectsshowcasedincludedlowcostwindturbine,robotsforinvivosurgery,allterrainvehicles, new structural materials, innovative baggage handling systems and low cost rotary engines. The evaluationwasdonebasedontheparametersofinnovationandnovelty,feasibilityandpotentialimpact ofidea,customervalue/commercialization,qualityofcompilationandpresentationskills.Thewinning teams project was a Sun tracker based on developing a Two Axis Suntracking design, whereby the movementofthesolardevicewascontrolledtofollowtheSunradiationusingaMicrocontrollerunit. Atthegalaawardceremonyheldon17thJunetheChiefGuestDr.GMadhavanNair(formerChairman ofISROandSecretarytotheDepartmentofSpace)gaveawaytheawardsandtrophytothewinning teamsandtheircolleges.Speakingtothestudentsattheevent,Dr.NairsaidTimeandagain,Indian Institutionshavedeliveredproductsthatcallforworldclassengineeringandtechnologycontent.Forus tocontinuetodosointhefuture,itisimportantthatgraduatingstudentsdevelopastrongfoundation

QuEST has been regularly engaging with Universities and Colleges in their student outreach efforts to tap into Indias pool of talented engineers. QuEST Ingenium is developed to explore and develop stronger linkages with the student community. During the event, the students had an opportunity to meetwithemployeesatQuEST.Thisgavethestudentsanopportunitytoappreciatethekindofexciting engineeringprojectsbeingexecutedbyQuEST.
