Young people are full of energy, never gets weary easily and they are every where, yet many are becoming menace to the society, the question is how can we make them useful for the community? Current youth culture influences the young to be individualists which have developed into consumerism. This culture teaches the young to be passive and not to care about whats happening around them. Transforming their lives

We cannot just challenge the young people to pay forward without first transforming their lives. There are many issues that the young people of today face and we need to help them see those realities and strengthened their characters to prepare them for the future leadership. In every kind of transformation, may it be in the community or nation, always starts with the individual. Involvement in the governance

Young people are very energetic and risk takers as well. They can either be an asset or liability to the society. The government needs their energy to be effective in the governance. Youth should not only be used as manpower but also actively involving them in running the government so as also to expose them what good governance is all about.

- Prepare them for leadership Every youth program of the barangay must be aimed towards raising the young generation to be the next responsible and outstanding leaders of the future. Every youth program must be intended for this end. V. Relevant Youth Programs

Basketball league, waitingshed areas and beautification of the barangay is a common program or project that every SK is doing all over the country. These are not necessarily bad, except that these kinds of projects are not pointing to anything. Worst is that rock and disco concerts are considered as a very relevant project for the youth. But what benefit does this bring to the youth. Ask the parents. Skills Enhancement

Skills common among the youth must be identified in order to enhance the same. These skills may include sports, creative designs, and other non-formal education skills. Non-Formal Educational Assistance

It would help the youth to prepare them for future life by learning skills that can be used as a living. This is primarily intended for those who did not have a formal education. Leadership Training

While there are born leaders, good leaders are not. Effective leadership is learnt. This program is intended to build the youth as leaders of the future. Every project of the Barangay must be intended to raise the youth as future leaders. VI. Conclusion [A Proposal to the Barangay Council]

This proposal entails long-term development plan for the youth with the vision of raising the youth for future leadership. This Three-point Agenda focuses mainly on personal development of individual youth and knowing their role in the community. a.
