Sundance Institute Job Posting Title: Associate Director of Development, Foundation Giving Office Location: Beverly Hills, CA Office

Job Level: Associate Director Position Reports to: Director of Development Department: Development Dates worked (if less than 12 months): Considerations:
May be required to attend the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. In addition infrequent night and weekend hours may be required.

Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Foundation Giving will be responsible for leading the strategy and managing all work associated with government, family, private and corporate foundations that provide grant support for current and approved future Sundance Institute programs and activities. This position oversees a total revenue portfolio of $5+ M.

Duties and Responsibilities:


FUNDRAISING STRATEGY Lead the strategy, identification, solicitation, and stewardship of $5 + million in foundation and government revenue Identify new and innovative sources for funding that best supports Sundance Institute programs Evaluate prospects and funders for strategic fit and alignment with Institute's mission and programs. Interact and build relationships with foundation leadership and staff of organizations as The Ford Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, The Doris Duke Foundation, The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, etc. Establish annual goals for foundation and government support and ensure that revenue goals are met Work closely with Institute leadership including individual Program Directors to develop funding opportunities for current Institute initiatives Work closely with Program staff to shape projects and initiatives for funding. GRANT WRITING AND ADMINISTRATION Write grant proposals, reports, and white papers about the Institute's initiatives, programs and work Monitor and ensure Institute- wide grant compliance Work closely with Finance and Budget offices to integrate restricted gifts effectively into the overall Institute budget OTHER DUTIES Supervise grant writing staff and/or contractors Stay abreast of all programmatic work in order to communicate program activities, successes, and needs to funders Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
Employee has legal authorization to work in the United States EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in increasingly responsible positions Minimum of 5 years experience in a grant- making organization or a comparable arts/culture/education organization with proven track record of securing multi- year foundation gifts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge in project management and team work required Outstanding oral and written communication skills Highly professional demeanor, successful negotiation skills, and comfortable within the culture of a nonprofit arts organization Knowledge of foundation and government funding practices Successful management of multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects Able to establish priorities and delegate appropriately Excellent interpersonal skills Valid drivers license and successful completion of DMVbackground check required
