Ashoka Fellow Al Harris won 2011 Buckminster Fuller Challenge
UK Fellow Al Harris and his organization “Blue Ventures has been named the winner of the
 
2011 Buckminster Fuller Challenge. Blue Ventures is a conservation organization that simultaneously protects marine environments while improving the standard of living in some of the world’s poorest coastal communities. For more information about the challenge, click  here.
 
Swedish Fellow Karl-Henrik Robèrt is a finalist for The Globe Sustainability Research Award
Professors Göran Broman and Swedish Fellow Karl-Henrik Robèrt have been jointly nominated as finalists for The Globe Sustainability Research Award. Professors Broman and Robèrt have created a methodology for strategic sus-tainable development.
US Fellow, Kristin Hayden, speaks in Vancouver
US Fellow, Kristin Hayden, recently reported on a successful speaking engagement in Vancouver BC. The headline of the article in the Vancouver Sun was “Entrepreneurs inspired by studying abroad.” Kristin is the founder of  One World Now (OWN) where students study languages that are rarely taught in U.S. public schools and participate in leadership training. In her talk she urged colleges and universities to give academic credit to students who travel before attending a post-secondary school. For more information, read here.

Argentina's International Human Rights Prize

The Emilio F. Mignone International Human Rights Prize is the first and one of the few awards given in the field of human rights by a developing country. Established in 2007 by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of human rights. Fund to support Commonwealth Theme 2011

Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships

The Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships (AFPF) is an American non-profit, non-governmental organization that gives developing-world journalists the opportunity to work as reporters in American newsrooms. Graça Machel Scholarships

The key aim of the Graça Machel Scholarship Programme is to help provide necessary resources to women for economic, social and cultural development in the Southern African region and to develop an educated and skilled workforce that can benefit the wider community. The scholarship is for female students from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe studying in South Africa. Open Meadows Foundation Offers Funding for Projects to Benefit Women and Girls

African Women's Development Fund: Small Grants Programme
