Narrative:
I responded to 21905 SE 258 St, Maple Valley, with Deps. Stanton and Smith to a domestic violence incident. Upon our arrival (S) Diane Barnes allowed us into her house. I immediately went to a bedroom and talked to the other half, (C) Carrie Barnes. Carrie told me that she had come home and started cooking a steak to eat. Her mother, Diane, immediately started to yell and argue with her. According to Carrie the argument started over whether she was going to eat the steak or not. Carrie went to the bedroom to try to stay separated from Diane. I had heard over that radio that Carrie was supposed to be in possession of a steak knife. I asked Carrie where the knife was as I could not see one anywhere. Carrie stated that she did not have one and did not know anything about a steak knife. She then added that she had been using one while cooking the steak. However Carrie said that she did not ever threaten Diane with it. I asked Carrie if either of them had assaulted or threatened the other. Carrie said "no". I informed Dep. Stanton that we did not have a crime on my end of the conversation. He told me that he also did not have a crime. I asked Carrie if she had somewhere to go for a cool down period. Carrie told me that she was worried about her 6 year old daughter and did not want to leave her alone with Diane. I heard the sounds of a scuffle near the front door. I also heard Dep. Stanton yell for someone not to touch him. I went to

the front door and saw Deps. Stanton and Smith attempting to restrain Diane. Diane appeared to be resisting by pulling her arms in front of her. Diane was struggling and twisting her torso so that Dep. Stanton had to push her against the wall so that he could stabilize her arms behind her for handcuffing. Diane appeared upset because she was yelling at us that she wanted her daughter kicked out of the house and that her daughter had threatened her with a knife. She also appeared to be upset over our ages continually asking each of us how old we were. Dep. Stanton transported Diane to the precinct to complete paperwork. While placing her in a holding cell I noticed that she had a scratch that was bleeding on one wrist. It did not require fire response and Diane did not request for aid. I transported Diane to the King County Jail. I did not ask her any questions as during the trip she asked to call her lawyer and then yelled at me when I did not immediately pull over when she told me to. That concluded my involvement with this incident.
