Topic / Theme : Algebraic Expressions II Learning Objectives : Students will be taught to: 3.1 Understand the concept of algebraic terms in two or more unknowns.

Learning Outcomes : Students will be able to: i. ii. iii. iv. v. Identify unknowns in algebraic terms in two or more unknowns . Identify algebraic terms in two or more unknowns as the product of the unknowns with a number. Identify coefficients in given algebraic terms in two or more unknowns. Identify like and unlike algebraic terms in two or more unknowns. State like terms for a given algebraic terms.

Activities : Stage 1 : Introduction - 5 mins 1. Teacher refreshes the basics of algebraic expressions in Form 1 by giving simple examples. 2. Teacher then raises the difficulty level by introducing the topic of Algebraic Terms of Two or More Unknowns to the class. 3. Teacher sets the mood of learning by prompting the students to answer questions related to the topic. 4. Once the whole class has given complete attention, teacher then leads to the next stage. Stage 2 : Development I (whole class discussion) 10 mins 1. Teacher flashes out cards for the students to identify algebraic terms in two or more unknowns. 2. Next, based on the cards selected teacher asked the students to identify algebraic terms as the product of the unknowns with a number. 3. Students give answers on the board and teacher selects other students to identify coefficients of the algebraic terms. 4. Teacher checks their answers and discuss with the class. 5. Teacher then instruct the students to do Exercise 3.1B page 54 number 3 and discuss together in class.

Stage 3 : Development II - 10 mins 1. Teacher lists out three examples on the board and calls out students to circle the like terms. 2. Teacher checks their answers and discuss with the class together. 3. Next, teacher selects a few algebraic terms based on the cards and writes it on the board then select students to state other like terms for the algebraic terms chosen. 4. The students answers were discuss in class. 5. Teacher highlights on writing the unknowns in alphabetical order. Stage 4 : Assessment 10 mins 1. In groups of three and two teacher distribute worksheet 1 to each group. 2. Each group must complete the worksheet and discuss within the groups. 3. Teacher monitors each group and check their answers. Stage 5 : Closure 5 mins 1. Teacher sums up the lesson by explaining briefly on what they have done and achieved. 2.
