INTRODUCTION
The International Nut The INC mission is to stimulate and facilitate sustainable growth in the global Nut and Dried Fruit Industry, providing new opportunities
and Dried Fruit Council for increasing global consumption of almonds, Amazonia (Brazil) nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios,
walnuts, peanuts, dates, dried apricots, dried figs, prunes, dried cranberries, raisins, sultanas and currants.
Foundation (INC), founded
in 1983, is the international
This statistical yearbook provides an overview of the latest statistics on nuts and dried fruits production, trade and consumption
source for information on globally. The statistical data have been gathered from different information sources, countries and formats.
Nuts and Dried Fruits for
Health, Nutrition, Statistics, Statistics are classified by product, which in turn are classified by:
Food Safety, Government
Standards and Regulations • Production: total metric tons produced from 2011/2012 to 2021/2022, top producing countries in 2021/2022 and five-year
average share (carry-in and out stocks are not included).
regarding Trade Barriers
• Exports: total metric tons exported, and eventually re-exported from transit countries from 2010 to 2020, top exporting
and Agricultural Quality
countries and five-year average share.
Standards. • Imports: : total metric tons imported by the twenty largest importers between 2010 and 2020.
- Some countries are identified as transit points or processors, e.g., the Netherlands and Germany are big re-exporters
to the rest of Europe, and Vietnam and India are important processing countries of raw cashew nuts.
• Consumption: estimated for the twenty leading consuming countries from 2016 to 2020 as the apparent availability annually,
which may generate discrepancies with the real consumption per capita. The consumption survey is presented in:
- Estimated total metric tons consumed between 2016 and 2020.
- Consumption per capita in kilograms per year: total volume consumed throughout the total population of the country.
- Estimated consumption per capita in kilograms per year: total volume consumed by the estimated percentage of
population that is considered regular consumer of the specific nut or dried fruit.

The supply value of tree nuts and dried fruits is obtained by multiplying production by the monthly unitary price averaged annually (customs paid upon arrival in Europe). The total value of tree nut supply has increased at a consistent
rate of $1.44 billion per year over the last 10 years, reaching $37.75 billion in 2021/2022. The overall dried fruit supply value reached $10.05 B in 2021/22 with an average annual growth rate of $0.30 B over the previous decade.
The most significant increases in tree nut supply values (R2>0.6) were seen in macadamias, almonds, and walnuts, whereas the most consistent increases in dried fruits were seen in dried cranberries and table dates. 13
