The Debt Ceiling and Class Warfare

The debt ceiling debate or what could more realistically be called extortion or blackmail, is part of the Starve the Beast strategy, to destroy the New Deal Era policies and programs, mostly employed by Republicans but also embraced by some Democrats. The idea is simple and long term: Make insane, irresponsible, and generally impossible budgetary decisions such as having two or three wars without paying for it, a new Medicare Part D prescription drug program without paying for it, the continuation of these policies by a new administration, knowing all this will drive the debt up to levels where it would sooner or later have to be addressed, and of course, the only solutions that are offered are ones that will affect people who can least afford it and who could not participate in our pay to play government or are limited in doing so, the middle class and poor Class warfare has been an ongoing issue in this country from its inception. In general, the war has been waged against the poor by the rich. This has become so much the norm, that the only type of class warfare people recognize nowadays is when the worker is caught in the act of fighting back. Our politicians use class warfare, to ensure nothing of any actual meaning gets done for the American people. The President engages in it when he divides by income, who should get to keep the Bush Era tax cuts, The Republicans engage in it by insisting that no one, especially the rich, should get a tax increase because the rich create jobs and any sort of tax on the rich would be considered a job killing measure. When no jobs have been created they claim the issue is a matter of certainty...This certainty they want, is another economic hostage taking, where they keep the money and also hold the economy hostage. A better deal would be to withhold tax breaks from corporations and individuals until they actually create jobs. Which brings me to this point, the idea that the rich create jobs is a fallacy that can be dismissed outright. Demand is what creates jobs and since we have an unemployment rate whose real number, according to John William s Shadow Government Statistics is 22%, there is little demand, thus no need to create jobs. No business creates jobs they don t need to and they certainly won t create anything in this country if they can utilize, and are encouraged and enabled by our government, to exploit the lowest wage workers of the world... The idea of corporate patriotism and shared sacrifice never seem to enter into the picture. That needs to change but most probably won t. Can we ask the poor and middle class to carry the burden for all the bad decisions made by our politicians in DC and the Corporate/Banking elite that own them? Politicians, who make the decisions that caused the problem, expect you to pay and exclude themselves from the sacrifice that they ask of its own citizenry. This is the same problems our forefathers faced, taxation without representation. It s the same issue, with most likely the same resolution. This two party system in which people are duped into thinking they have a choice, is really just two sides of a one party system, a Corporate party a party that provides lip service to their voters/constituents but actually serves the needs of their true masters, the corporations and the banking interests (Wall Street and the International Bankers via the Federal Reserve) We can no longer afford to give this Corporate party the benefit of the doubt in regard to serving We the people . These political parties have proven time and time again that they aren t concerned about ensuring the individual liberties of every American. They have truly put us on the path to destruction We are Rome burning and our politicians are our modern day Nero s. The American people must realize is that what was once a ConstitutionalRepublic that ensured that individual liberty would be protected by our Bill of Rights has morphed into what can arguably be called

a Plutocracy. This is a government by the elite for the elite. The usurpation of government by the banking interests, corporations and moneyed individuals, who, because of a corrupted political system, have obtained more access to government than the average citizen. In doing so, these entities have gained more rights than the individual or The People for which our Constitution was written. Both parties have passed legislation on behest of corporations and the other beneficiaries of Globalization and Free Markets and are both culpable for the state of the economy, as we see it today. Our many FTA s (Free Trade Agreements) as well as select legislation such as The Commodities Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (which provided for an unregulated OTC derivatives market) and The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (which gave us too big to fail banks) and the 2000 page non-solution called the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act (Which did nothing to resolve the main causes of the 2008 financial collapse) are examples of the inability of our representatives to actually represent people and proof that the idea of a Constitutional Representative Republic , or the notion of Democratic principles within that construct, are mere fairy tales told by politicians that pretend these things actually exist and ask you to believe in this broken system and them as leaders, and that things will eventually work out for the average American. The banking interests and corporations have captured our government via campaign contributions, PACS, and lobbyists, breaking the system to ensure that these entities would have an unfair advantage over other competition as well as that upstart little guy . Our politicians show no real interest in fixing the actual issue. Why should they? There is no lobbyist or PAC for The People , so The People have less free speech, read money, than corporations and banks. There are realistic solutions out there but no real leadership in Washington to implement them. It would require reversing years of Anti-American policies that were legislated by our representatives on behest of corporations and banking interests. We must have tax reform. All tax loopholes should be abolished. There should be no tax benefit or subsidies for corporations, in being married, having children, a house or in earning through capital gains. Large or small Companies should have to shoulder the same kind of tax burden there should be no advantage for a Large Multinational Corporation. No advantage for being rich or poor. If that sounds allot like a flat tax. It is. This would provide a level playing field which would encourage true Capitalism, not this rigged capitalism for monopolistic powers to ensure they won t have any competition. The bribing of other countries via foreign aid needs to stop; our occupation of other sovereign nations should also end. Again, good luck getting any of this passed in the CONgress. The offshoring of manufacturing is a National Security Issue. Unemployment is a National Security Issue as is was in the 30 s. The debt ceiling and the idea of our country defaulting on its debt is also a National Security Issue. Unfair taxation and the country s inability to bring in more revenue than it spends is a National Security Issue. Why our Congress ensured that all this would come to be, is anyone s guess and what is our elected representatives answer to all this? There answer is more of the same, more Free Trade Agreements, More Globalization, More of pitting the American worker against low wage earners in distant lands. More tax breaks and subsidies to corporations and individuals who are not actually producing anything of any value to anyone except themselves. Of course, as I write this, Irealize that it just may all be too late; the damage has already been done by our politicians. They have little regard for the people. Their irresponsible behavior in regard to this debt ceiling issue illustrates this fact. In an earlier time these action would be called treasonous. The country is also divided due to propaganda and misinformation constantly streamed via corporate owned and

controlled television and radio networks It s not just a particular TV or radio news outlet, in general they all have little responsibility in regard to ensuring that what they produce as news or opinion is actually based on facts. Just as in Greece, The United States is capable of losing its sovereignty to the Global Banking Cartel, though some have rightly argued that this has already occurred since the institution of our private central bank The Federal Reserve via the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. The IMF and World Bank have taken over Greece. How can anyone think a debt problem can be resolved by getting into more debt? Common sense anyone? Our story and Greece s are much the same. We need to get our fiscal house in order. We need to start working for a better future for all the citizens in this country, instead of trying to set up fake Democratic regimes in the Middle East to control oil resources. Most Americans will be looking for someone to blame for all this Who to blame? A Liberal?A Conservative? How about the Republicans? No it s the really Democrats fault or is it? The people in power who made decisions that got us to this sorry state in American History are at fault They are Conservatives, Liberals, Democrats and Republicans and they all have one thing in common, they are politicians..
