Mobile Banking
Improve your business by offering a secure and flexible mobile banking experience to your customers
obile phones have become an integral part of the 21st century landscape with an expected penetration of 4.5 billion by 2011. While north america and europe have the highest penetration rates, reaching 100% in many Western countries, south america and asia represent the fastest growing mobile markets. the mobile phone is the one device that people carry with them at all times. services beyond voice and text messaging are booming all over the globe and users want the same serviceson their mobile phone that they can get through an internetconnected pc. Mobile phones represent a cost-effective solution for bank and unbanked users, financial institutions and operators, allowing them to bridge the digital divide in places where traditional banking and internet services are too expensive or simply nonexistent. there is a large demand for easy access to financial services: users have access to credit and can securely manage their money, financial institutions expand their user base and process more transactions, and governments benefit from the effect credit has on lower-income sectors of the population and can better track funds distribution within their country. ubiquitous and versatile, wireless devices can give users easy, 24/7, access to financial services bringing the next market revolution: mobile banking, mobile payment, mobile wallet, mobile money transfer and other financial services to users everywhere. the dramatic increase in the use of mobile phones has been closely followed by the increase in mobile fraud. although eager to use mobile financial services, many subscribers are concerned about the security aspect when carrying out financial transactions over the mobile network. in fact, lack of security is seen as the biggest deterrent in the widespread adoption of mobile financial services. internet transactions suffer from the same problem, as are traditional payment transactions in this way, fraud prevention has become an essential ingredient in the success of all different modes of financial transactions.

Gemaltos solution designed to easily integrate within the existing GsM network infrastructure and the banks back-end, Gemaltos Mobile banking solution includes a secure applet stored in the siM card in the users phone and a transactional platform that securely manages financial operations carried out over the wireless network between the bank or mWallet (store value account) and the siM.
Security information Gemaltos technology ensures end-toend security by ciphering messages exchanged between the siM and the bank (or financial institution) using the highest existing security standards. special keys are embedded permanently in the siM at manufacturing so it is not possible for anybody to duplicate them. all sensitive data is kept exclusively by the financial institution. the Mobile banking application guarantees that even if one of the components of Mobile banking is compromised, the overall security is not affected. Strong user authentication customer trust is the key to any banks business success: customers must be sure that nobody can see their data or make transactions on their behalf. Gemalto responds to that need with strong 2-factor authentication: > data is signed with keys known only by the siM and the financial institution. > subscriber authentication with the bank using a pin defined in accordance with the banks verification system requirements.
Components Secure Applet the siM card includes an applet with an intuitive user interface and security features that ensure the same level of safety and confidentiality as if the operations were performed at the bank.
