celebrate
her
birthday
and
commemorate
the
restaurant
she
inspired,
Ba
Bay
herself
will
be
hosting
a
five-course,
family-style
dinner
at
the
restaurant
on
th Sunday,
July
24
featuring
traditional
Vietnamese
dishes.
Owner
Khoa
Nguyen
is
excited
to
have
his
grandmother
in
the
kitchen,

dinner
is
special
not
only
because

visiting
from
London,
but

also
her
83
birthday.
We
really
owe
her
so
much
as
shes
a
great
inspiration
and
helped
to
raise
us
in
the
kitchen,
Nguyen
explains.

toughest

and
biggest
supporter,
Nguyen
said.
Hoa
Tran,
Ba
Bay
or
Madame
Seven,
raised
a
family
of
10
children
in
Southern
Vietnam
and
possessed
a
strong
entrepreneurial
spirit.
From
owning
several
restaurants
and
stores,
importing
and
exporting
to
running
famous
street-carts,
her
line
of
work
has
always
been
in
the
food
industry
and
entertaining
guests.
For
one
night,
this
exclusive
dinner
will
feature
classical
Vietnamese
dishes
that
shes
renowned
for.
Joining
her
in
the
kitchen
on
this
night
will
also
be
her
daughters
Huong
Nguyen
(Denises
mother),
Thuy
Tran
and
Nguyen
Tran
(Khoas
mother).
Khoa
describes
the
night
as
a
night
to
feature
the
traditional
dishes
that
have
inspired
us
growing
up,
that
have
led
us
to
opening
a
restaurant,
Nguyen
said.

modern
Vietnamese
restaurant
in
Capitol
Hill
is
led
by
cousins
Khoa
and
Denise
Nguyen.
The
concept
elevates
traditional
Vietnamese
fare
by
incorporating
western
influences
and
modern
preparation
to
classic
dishes.

techniques
and
