NOTE: Where reference is made to any Clause or Subclause of this standardized specification and any other SANS 1200 standardized specification, the Clause or Subclause of the Anglo Amendment to the standardized specification shall apply and shall take precedence over the said Clause or Subclause of the SANS 1200 standardized specification. 2. 2.1 INTERPRETATIONS SUPPORTING SPECIFICATIONS This Clause is amended to include the following: "g) SANS 1200C - Site Clearance" 5. 5.2 5.2.3 CONSTRUCTION BEDDING AND LAYING Concrete Casing of Pipelines This Clause is amended to include: "When placing concrete, it shall be placed from one side of the pipe only to ensure complete filling of the void beneath the pipe. Once this is achieved, placing may proceed from the opposite side of the pipe to the required dimensions." 5.2.5 Portal and Rectangular Culverts c) Placing of upper portion This Clause is amended to read: "There shall be no gap called up between adjoining barrels of multi-barrel culverts." 5.3 CULVERT CONSTRUCTION BEFORE MAJOR EARTHFILL OPERATIONS This Clause is amended to include: "Prefabricated culverts shall be constructed under trenched conditions unless specifically stated that embankment conditions shall apply. Trenched conditions shall be defined as units that are laid in a trench excavated either below existing ground level, or in previously constructed subgrade and if necessary, subbase layers, the level of subgrade and subbase shall be made up to a height that will provide the minimum prescribed cover above the crown of the culvert." 5.5 5.5.5 CATCHPITS, MANHOLES, INLETS AND OUTLET STRUCTURES Precast Manholes This Clause is amended to read: "All reference to Drawing LE - 1 shall be deleted."

"Each manhole cover and frame shall be removed from the chamber structure and the height of the chamber walls altered as required. The cover and frame shall be reset on a minimum 10mm bed of 1:2 cement mortar in such a manner that the top of the cover is flush with the adjacent finished compacted level of the sidewalk or road pavement. After the fittings have been reset, they shall be cleaned of deleterious matter and painted with bitumen on the surfaces that will be in contact with any bituminous surfacing. Freshly prepared premix asphalt shall be hand tamped around them, if instructed. The finished tamping shall be dense, shall blend with the adjacent surfacing and shall present good riding qualities."
