For the child, homeschooling provides emotional freedom. The child does not need to deliver to the evil effects of peer pressure, competition and bullies. They can study at peace. Closer family relationships are made possible with homeschooling. The child will enjoy spending time at home with the family, than outside. Adolescent fears for the parents are also reduced considerably. A certain degree of stability can be guaranteed when the child is homeschooling. Be it illness, emergencies or any requirements. There is a guarantee that disturbance will be the least. The kid will not be fatigued out at the end of the day and will have a more rested out lifestyle. Pressure and stress will also be quite less. Personal attention while homeschooling allows a kid to do in lesser time what children in school take longer to do. As such, homeschooling makes the children relatively more efficient at studies.

Homeschooling can take up a lot of time of the parent. Leading to an acute time restraint for the parents. Picture a kitchen table filled with books and no food cooked. Homeschooling requires one parent to be at home full-time. This could lead to a financial restraint on the family. The income would reduce, while the expenditure would, almost, remain the same. Team sports for the kid can be forgotten if you opt for homeschooling. Being that in the home school there is, but one student, teams would be hard to make and competitions would be kind of one sided, don't you think. You have to accept that homeschooling is an oddity. As such, in a neighborhood where most children go to a public school, one home scholar may find it hard to make friends and might find it very easy getting teased.

Public schools provide the kids with an opportunity to partake is great activities like theater and bands. All round development is easier in public schools. There are several after-school programs that are available at public schools. The children can opt for those and choose what they wish to do. There is a certain level of proficiency in the educators at public schools. Most states require the teachers to be trained and certified. As such, the educators have to live up to a standard. Public schools are funded. As such children studying in public schools have more opportunities and resources available to them.

A child studying in a public school is exposed to the different types of people in the world. As such, it can be said that public school prepares an individual who can face the world with confidence.

Peer pressure and bullying is a regular affair at public school. Non conformism and innovative thinking is not easily acceptable. There is no individual attention given to the students. As such, certain gifted but quiet students tend to get lost in the crowd. There are too many varieties of students studying at public schools. As such the parents do have much control over the kids their children get along with. Children tend to get rude in the attempt of "taking care of themselves". There is more exposure to social evils. These factors often get a little difficult for parents to handle or avoid.

One of the very first questions that most parents ask about home schooling is whether it actually works. They are only too well aware of the fact that the public schools have problems, but really wonder whether they can do any better. One natural response for some parents is to try a little harder to see if they can afford private schooling but, even if this were possible, are the private schools faring any better than the public schools? The simple fact of the matter is that there are many, quality studies which show that, on average, home schooling produces superior students. To an extent of course this is understandable as parents clearly have an effect on education no matter which route they take. A parent who is genuinely interested in the education of his or her children will help to motivate them, producing better results. But there is certainly more to it that this and there are many cases, in a great enough variety of situations, to take even this into account and still come to the conclusion that home schooling produces better results. Even the Unites States Department of Education agrees. In one study which they sponsored themselves home schooled students produced exceptionally high test scores. The median scores in every grade were far higher than those of public schools and even higher than those of private school students. The average home schooled student in grades one through four was a grade level above that of public school peers and, by the time home schooled students reached the equivalent of the 8th grade, they were as much as four years ahead of students attending public school. As if this were not enough, costs were also lower. On average, government schools spent $6,500 per student each year and private schools spent $3,500. By contrast, parents undertaking home schooling spent about $550 per student each year. This figure for home schooling does not of course take into account the time spent by parents on home schooling for which a public school teacher would be paid. The public school system as we know it today evolved during the second half of the 19th century as one state after another made school attendance compulsory. Perhaps the most interesting question however, and one which rarely seems to be asked, is why, if public schooling offered such superior value, it was necessary for the states to make it compulsory and to force parents to put their children into the public school system. It could be, and sometimes is, argue that this was due to the ignorance of rural parents who did not see the value of education. However, it is interesting to note that adult illiteracy rates in 1840 Massachusetts were a low 2% and that, by 1995, this figure had risen to 19%, in spite of apparently enormous advances in the intervening years. In 1840 libraries were rare and today they are everywhere as books are both relatively inexpensive and easy to trade.

Today over a million children are home schooled in the United States and thousands of home schooled students have attended colleges and universities, including many of the most prestigious and difficult to get into. Home schoolers can cut out all of this unnecessary waiting, and get their work done within two or three hours. They can move at their own pace and still have time left over in the day to explore other interests. Despite shorter schooling hours, home schoolers have consistently scored at or above average in virtually all subject areas on standardized tests. Studies have shown that children whose parents are directly involved in their education are more apt to excel in academics. Indeed, a home-schooled child is aware of the dedication of his parents to his educational success. In addition to this, extended periods of time together strengthen family relationships, not only between the child and his parents, but also with his siblings. As they get to know each other, the family members form bonds that last a lifetime. Children tend to adopt the behaviors and values of those around whom they spend the majority of their time. Therefore, it stands to reason that home-schooled children are more likely than their classroomschooled peers to value the views of their families over the views of their friends. They will find it easier to resist the pressure they get from their friends to break rules because they won't be spending hours of idle time together. A home schooler's social experiences tend to be more positively influenced; they have the opportunity to spend time with children and adults of various ages, rather than thirty or more same-age peers. This is by no means an exhaustive list of the many advantages of home schooling, but just because the benefits seem to outweigh the disadvantages does not mean that home schooling is for everyone. There is more than one way for parents to educate their children; we should not assume that home schooling is right for every family in every situation.

Let's look at some of the benefits of homeschooling over traditional schooling: 1. Flexible Schedule Homeschooling enables a flexible schedule. For example, the child does not need to wake up at 7 every morning. With homeschooling, your child can start homeschooling at 9am or later depending on your preferred schedule. You can schedule your child's homeschooling education as you see fit with materials or subjects that may be not available in a traditional school. You can tailor the homeschool curriculum to suit the needs and interest of your child. 2. Individual attention In a traditional school setting, thirty to forty students are assigned to a teacher in class. Therefore usually, the teacher cannot devote 100 percent attention to any child since it will not be fair to the other children. Plus, it is quite impossible to provide individual attention to all students. With homeschooling, your child gets all the individual attention he/she needs. For example, if your child is weak in mathematics, you could devote more time and energy into teaching mathematics. Your child's homeschooling schedule can be adjusted to crater for that. For example, if your child is better at science than at mathematics, simple devote more homeschooling hours to mathematics and cut back on science. With homeschooling, the choice is yours. Traditional schools can't do that. 3. Family Activity The schooling of the child can become an extended family activity. Examples are field trips and experiments. Plus, the child also receives more quality time with his/her parents. There is more time for family bonding. The child is also free of any negative peer pressure or influences. 4. No peer pressure With homeschooling, the child does not need to prove his/her abilities to other children. Parents are able to deeply understand their child better with homeschooling and therefore are able to plan the learning program according to his strengths and weakness.
