University Project and Research Work

IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee Network Lifetime Optimization I investigated how to increase the Network Uptime by configuring and optimizing the Network (NWK) Layer of the ZigBee Transceivers Stack to route the packets considering the energy of the one hop nodes. This was accomplished by modifying the Network (NWK) layer and making sure that the energy of the current and one hop node is recorded by the ZigBee Coordinator and stored, so when a packet arrives, the ZigBee Coordinator would determine the most economic path to route the packet to. Hence achieving Energy Efficient Routing in the process. This was achieved using OMNeT++, an open-source network analyzer and simulator on a Windows OS.
