Interoperability Connectors for Operations Manager 2007 R2

As the management and administration of todays enterprise applications becomes increasingly specialized, the need to share real-time event management information between support organizations becomes a key component for the successful management of all critical business systems. System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 uniquely enables customers to reduce the cost of data center management across server operating systems and hypervisors through a single, familiar and easy to use interface. With the Interoperability Connectors for Operations Manager 2007 R2 (Interop Connectors), enterprises of all sizes can share and synchronize events between Operations Manager 2007 R2 and other management platforms including IBM Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC), HP Operations Manager (for UNIX and Windows), BMC Remedy ARS and more using the Universal Connector.

Key Features
Universal Connector enables connectivity to any remote system The Universal Connector enables the ability to forward alerting data from Operations Manager 2007 R2 to any remote system. This enables the integration of alerting data into in-house applications or other applications with which connectors are not currently available. Event creation, acknowledgement and closure is mirrored between Operations Manager 2007 R2 and the remote management system As events on each management platform are created, modified and ultimately closed in the course of normal support operations, this change in status is communicated between the systems. Customizable event severities when events/tickets are created from Operations Manager 2007 R2 alerts

Key Benefits

High availability. Support mission critical environments through redundancy of product connectors and run in automatic failover mode. Guaranteed delivery. Events created in either Operations Manager or the other management system trigger an automated process that ensures events are received and acknowledged by each system. If an acknowledgement fails within defined thresholds, the event is resent and the acknowledgement logic is reinitiated. Event properties synchronization. Multiple event properties including many user configured properties are kept in sync between Operations Manager 2007 R2 and the remote management system.

The severity level of Operations Manager 2007 R2 alerts can be mapped to any severity level in remote management system as the new Operations Manager 2007 R2 alerts are forwarded and the events/tickets are created. Management Pack to monitor the Connectors The Interop Connectors are equipped with an Operations Management Pack, written specifically to monitor the operational status of the connectors. Any problems detected by the management pack are immediately relayed to Operations Manager 2007 R2 where automated notifications can be configured to alert appropriate support organizations. Automatic failover to other TEC servers Support for multiple remote management systems, enabling failover to additional servers when the connector is unable to communicate with the primary.

Secure WS-Management Communication The Interop Connectors for Operations Manager 2007 R2 utilize industry standard WS-Management to communicate between Operations Manager 2007 R2 and the remote management system. The result is an extremely efficient communication path between the two management platforms. Integrated Experience
