Research Methodology

1. Study Area: The study is conducted at the Corporate Office of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Gurgaon. All the departments at the Corporate office were included in the study. Executive level (E1-E6) staffs were included in the study. 2. Research Design: The researcher has employed Descriptive Research Design for this study. This research design has been selected because the researcher wanted to understand data and characteristics about the population or phenomenon being studied. The primary objective of a descriptive research answers the questions who, what, where, when and how. Descriptive research is often used as a precursor to more quantitatively research designs, the general overview giving some valuable pointers as to what variables are worth testing quantitatively. 3. Sampling Design:
(a)Profile of the Respondents: The study is conducted on those

employees of the organization who are at the executive level (E1-E6). The reason for choosing these employees is that they are the people who can give a proper insight on the impending issue. Thus, they are the ones who are in the right position to participate in the study and provide a clear picture of the organization culture.
(b) Sampling Technique: The researcher opted to collect data through

the Random Sampling method. In this method, each and every item in the population has an equal chance of inclusion in the sample and each one of the possible samples, in case of finite universe, has the same probability of being selected.

(d) Sample Size: A total of 150 respondents were targeted for this study. 4. Sources of Data:
Primary Data: Primary data is originated by the researcher for

the specific purpose of the study or for addressing the problem at hand. For this study, primary data was collected from the respondents with the help of a questionnaire.

Secondary Data: The Secondary data has been collected by

reviewing various literatures available to find out what prior studies have determined on the issue of CSR. This was done through obtaining data from newspaper, journals, books, and previous research. 5. Tool for Data Collection: The researcher designed a questionnaire to collect primary data for the purpose of the study. A questionnaire is a structured technique for data collection or a formalized set of questions prepared to obtain information from respondents about any particular issue. The types of questions used in the questionnaire are attitude questions. The researcher used these questions as the researcher wanted to find out the respondents opinions or attitudes to a given situation. The respondents would be asked to rate the various statements in a given situation.

The researcher used a questionnaire as it is the least time taking tool and analysis is comparatively easy.
The researcher had also included open ended questions in order to allow for more flexibility where the respondents are encouraged to express their own thoughts, knowledge and feeling on certain issues. Another important motive for using open-ended questions is the complexity of the researchers subject and the sensitiveness of the research problem from the perspective of the respondents. The content of the interview were framed keeping the cultural sensitivity of the respondents in mind. The researcher ensured that the information provided by the respondents is used only for research purposes and efforts were made to maintain the confidentiality of the information being shared.
