The 4 levels of Predictive Astrology

The ordered approach to Predictive Astrology

The astrological symbolism's complexity is a challenge to the predictive astrologer. The inherent danger for the astrologer is to be overwhelmed by the astrological symbolism, when the approach lacks order and discipline. The below table was given in Steven Forrest's excellent book on predictive astrology, "The Changing Sky", as a guide for the practitioner entering the wild forrest of predictive astrological symbolism. It consists in 4 levels, each one representing a different zoom on the astrological influences. The basic rule is that a longer lasting astrological influence will determine more important changes in the life of a person, yet as the lenght in time of the influence increases, the accuracy in predicting actual events will be lower. In order to focus on more detailed influences, in order to zoom in, one must use a different lens, different astrological techniques. Steven Forrest presents in his book the 4 levels, the 4 predictive nets of astrological influences (transits and progressions) as listed below. They are complementary to each other and each of them gives meaning to the next one by descending order. You may find further information on each of these transits and progressions by reading the book, as they are presented there in detail, each in a different chapter. Level One 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. The progressed Sun changing sign or house. The progressed Moon passing through the first house. Any progressed planet (except the Moon) conjunct, square or opposed to the natal Ascendant, Midheaven, Sun, Moon.
