Recent Trends In Mobile Technology

Evolution of the Mobile Technology "If you can dream it, you can do it", according to this we can leap 3G to 4G along its features and future trends in mobile technology. In wireless communication, mobile technology is advanced and in this system 4G is the latest at present. The history and evolution of mobile service from the lG(first generation) to fourth generation are as follows. First generation:The process began with the designs in the 1970s that have become known as 1G. The earliest systems were implemented based on analog technology and the basic cellular structure of mobile communication. 1G is used primarily for voice communications. Second generation:Second - generation (2G) wireless-communications systems, which made their appearance in the late 1980s, were also used mainly for voice transmission and reception. The wireless system in widespread use today goes by the name of 2.5Gan "in-between" service that serves as a stepping stone to 3G. Whereby 2G communications is generally associated with Global System for Mobile (GSM) service, 2.5G is usually identified as being "fueled" by General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) along with GSM. Third generation:In 3G systems, making their appearance in late 2002 and in 2003, are designed for voice and paging services, as well as interactive-media use such as teleconferencing, Internet access, and other services. The problem with 3G wireless systems is bandwidththese systems provide only WAN coverage ranging from 144 kbps (for vehicle mobility applications) to 2 Mbps (for indoor static applications). Fourth generation:Segue to 4G, the "next dimension" of wireless communication. The 4g wirelesses use Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Ultra Wide Radio Band (UWB), and Millimeter wireless and smart antenna. Data rate of 20mbps is employed. Mobile speed will be up to 200km/hr. Frequency band is 2-8 GHz. it gives the ability for worldwide roaming to access cell anywhere. FEATURES OF 4G: Support for interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet, and other broadband services. IP based mobile system High speed, high capacity, and low cost-per-bit Global access, service portability, and scalable mobile services Seamless switching and a variety of Quality of Service-driven services Better scheduling and call-admission-control techniques Ad-hoc and multi-hop networks (the strict delay requirements of voice make multi-hop network service a difficult problem) Better spectral efficiency Seamless network of multiple protocols and air interfaces (since 4G will be all-IP, look for 4G systems to be compatible with all common network technologies, including 802.11, WCDMA, Blue tooth, and Hyper LAN). An infrastructure to handle pre-existing 3G systems along with other wireless technologies, some of which are currently under development

Top 5 Concept Phones - Hot trends in Mobile Phone Technology

We like to keep on top of the latest trends in mobile technology and have come across some pretty fascinating and sometimes bizarre concept phones. Read on to get a glimpse of what you might be using (or wearing) in the next few years as phones become more a part of fashion than efficiency.

1. Onyx Concept Phone

The new concept phone uses Synaptics ClearPad, an optically clear, capacitive touch screen solution, to create a fully adaptive user interface (UI). The ClearPad input system eliminates the traditional mechanical keys found on phones today and dramatically adapts to present the information and controls a user needs at any given moment. More intelligent than conventional touch screens, the ClearPad accurately recognizes not only points and taps, but also shapes, complex gestures, and proximity to the users finger or cheek. This creates new possibilities such as assigning functions to two-finger taps, closing tasks by swiping an X over them, sending messages by swiping them off the screen, or answering a phone by holding it up to your cheek. The prototype phone uses a dynamic UI, where applications are layered and opened simultaneously, allowing a seamless flow of information between applications. Mobile phones are no longer used just for making calls -- they have become a single access point for critical day-to-day information, explains Clark Foy, vice president of Synaptics. The Onyx phone is a breakthrough illustration of how advances in interface technology and collaborative design will drive the future of mobile interactions and services. Unfortunately the Onyx isnt quite ready for mass production. In fact, the images were only released to generate some buzz in the mobile phone community. So, in other words, dont get too excited just yet.

2. The Sony Ericsson Ai

Images of this phone surfaced on the internet not too long ago, and it is unknown whether this is actually from Sony. Nevertheless, the design is really spectacular, and even if it is just a fans digital rendering, perhaps Sony will catch on and actually manufacture it.

3. The BenQ Snake

Is it a snake or is it a phone? A concept from BenQ combines art and technology to createwell, what is it? It looks like part reptile, part alien. Either way, it will amaze your friends as you wrap it around a pole in the guest bathroom

4. Bracelet Phone with built in MP3 Player

This is probably one of the more practical/innovative concepts out there by a designer [http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_set.asp?sort_by=...] that has created a lot of speculation. You wear this phone on your wrist as a bracelet as a fashion item, and when you need to make or reveive a phone call, you simply take off the bracelet and answer it by pushing one simple button. Not only that, but it also doubles as an MP3 player (something every phone should be equipped with).

5. NECs Tag

Much like the number 3 phone, this one can also be worn around the wrist. However, NEC goes one step farther with their Tag concept. Essentially you are able to manipulate this material in almost any way you wish so you can hang it up, twist it around, tie it around something, wear it on your neck, etc. There arent any plans on mass production, but this would certainly create a trend among younger cell phone users.

Holistic Gadgets: With the release of Apple's iPad, the trend of holistic gadgets that combine your mobile, entertainment, practical and social needs is becoming more than mainstream - it is becoming an absolute necessity. While 3G phones provide a favorable amount of space for music and internet accessibility, they do not have the fine equipment for continued visual usage as a laptop. However, laptops lack the capabilities of a cellphone that allows instantaneous communication without waiting for programs to open or devices to power up. Thus the products have begun to converge with the leading item being the iPad which has, inevitably, led to several spin-off products. For example, Qualcomm's Snapdragon boasts: 3G mobile broadband, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, intuitive user interface and mobile operating system. Sound familiar? NVIDIA, Intel, Meego, and Google's OSAndroid and soon to come ChromeOS are also similar, portable 21st century gadgets. These gadgets all view to pick the best and most popular advancements of the past ten years and crush them into one, fantastic, pocket-sized moneymachine. So, let the games inaugurate - the iPad 2.0 will soon appear in order to dazzle its competitors even more.

3D Technology: Sharp has surged in recent news due to their press release stating that a 3D touchscreen will soon be available in their products. With the advances that have been made in CG-Silicon which enables the cheaper production of high quality images due to the consume of less material to achieve the same effect, and the optimization of parallax barriers, Sharp can afford to create a lightweight touchscreen that allows the user to see 3D images without the exhaust of special glasses. With these developments, there has been talk of using Sharp's recent patent on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game console. LG 3D LCD TV is 47 inches of 3D goodness, Sony BDP S770 Blu-ray player can accompany the 3D television state and Panasonichelps you along in your 3D film career by providing camcorders to film the next Avatar orHannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert (which is helpfully available in 3D). The future is certainly not twodimensional. Augmented Reality: In the vein of 3D technology, augmented reality products help to enhance life by merging technology with the visible and concrete aspects of life. For example, this iPhone app became very popular in the summer of last year due to the fact that there was a valid time subway method displayed on the app, directing the user to the nearest and most convenient subway in the city of New York. Other augmented reality gadgets include the SixthSense project being carried out at MIT. This gadget has a projector screen that goes on any flat surface including your hand, in order to aid out with such tasks as: finding the most environmentally friendly toilet paper in a store, comparing prices, finding reviews for books, and taking pictures of any immediate area that strikes your fancy simply by making a camera action with your hands. The website describes the gadget as follows: "The SixthSense prototype is comprised of a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera. The hardware components are coupled in a pendant like mobile wearable device. Both the projector and the camera are connected to the mobile computing device in the user's pocket. The projector projects visual information enabling surfaces, walls and physical objects around us to be used as interfaces; while the camera recognizes and tracks user's hand gestures and physical objects using computer-vision based techniques." Translation: Awesome. The creators of Skinput seem to have a similar notion as they turn a person's arm into a screen using a projection system, meaning a future reduction of materials required to create gadgets. Plausibly, all future gadgets requiring a camouflage could be reduced to small projector systems. Open Source!: With the growing number of apps and the Add-Ons available for your Firefox browser, the trends points to only more open sourced customizability in the future. A current development that promises to take virtual life in a unusual direction is the Prefab applicationthat has been developed at The University of Washington. This app basically hijacks softwares or applications and allows a person customize it, not by modifying the code but what is displayed. This leads to a virtually limitless array of hijack-able products as there is no real safeguard to protect the image given off - as yet, that is. Such continued inventions that allow customizability in users' products show no signs of slowing down and Begin Source production continues to retract over everyday technology.

Neural Decoding: Neuroscientists at the University of California, Berkeley have been able to take play-by-play images of mental activity through several experiments. The technology they have utilized is fMRI scanning, but the technique involves studying brain patterns in response to obvious images shown to the patient in order to predict future responses. The computer to which this information is fed then processes and synthesizes the information in order to help the researchers understand what different responses mean. Furthermore, electrocorticography (EcoG) experiments have revealed that researchers are able to detect what vowel or word patients are thinking of. In fact, it was found that both speaking and thinking the word gave just about the same result. Most researchers involved in this field whisper surprise at the pace of development of the science which is rapid and impressive. These technologies promises to change the judicial system, the security industry, accessibility to products for people with disabilities and perhaps even the notion of privacy in the long hurry. The technology continues to mature but there is no reason to fear a Big Brother state just yet. Multi-Purpose Environmental Inventions: The PeePoo is a modern invention to join the ranks of multi-purpose Green Tech. The PeePoo is a bag into which human waste goes and out comes fertilizer - something that will help Kenya's poor sanitation problems as their water systems have become corrupted due to a lack of proper sewage. There are also such products as thesolar powered trash compactor and Eco-friendly homes made from recycled plastic as well as other clever, multi-purpose and clean energy creations. The reason for this trend comes due to the desire to optimize the use of materials that comes with the Green culture. There is always a desire to create a product that is not only beneficial to the environment but that also fills a need in the consumer. Wireless World: This technology has the potential to change the way that people think about mobile gadgets. Powermat has already taken on this task commercially. However, projections for the technology are to allow items in the vicinity to power up wirelessly using what is calledWiTricity. This could mean the end of wires all together. If you cannot imagine how noteworthy of a big deal that is: look at the nearest extension chord. Look at the items that are connected to it. That could be a toaster, a television, a computer, a cellphone or a lamp. Now, imagine them without any wires at all. You could assign any item anywhere in a room without thinking about sockets. No more tripping over your laptop's chord. Even better, people with pacemakers and other battery-powered medical items and surgically implanted electronics could benefit from the technology! Furthermore the growth of freely available WiFi is growing to be a more and more accepted notion. So, it seems as though the future is here, and the gadget of tomorrow is a solar-powered, 3D touchscreen, augmented reality, wireless, open sourced projector that has apps that can tell when you are hungry or when you want to contemplate Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus' Best of Both Worlds Tour without you having to say anything. Or is that the wrong interpretation of the trends?
