Some important points for campus recruitment drive 1.

Hold one senior as your BIG BROTHER during Final year to guide you. 2. Who says its ONLY luck (except exceptions), go via sure shot path. So do prepare for the written test. 3. Revise your class notes of important subjects before jumping in for written test. (try for last year recruitment drive papers from seniors and Web) 4. After clearing written, get dressed up well (dont take others TIE it indicates lack of seriousness) 5. Revise your training report, your DETD project, technical is covered in preparation for written 6. Prepare for following HR questions a. Tell your strengths and weakness? b. What you know about us and why would we take you? c. Future studies plan? d. Where you see yourself after 5 years? 7. After selection dont forget to give party to your classmates. Campus Interview Sample 1(Electrical) Calm yourself, relax, take Long Breaths (it really works I also used to think kya bakwass therapy ha) Get in the interview room (which used to be CAD lab or Assembly hall or seminar hall), dont directly sit on chair stand alongside and ask chairperson to ask you to sit down say thank you and sit down. Put your folder on table and sit straight keep your hands on your lap. You may first encounter either usual or unusual question o Usual Question: - Okay so Mr. XYZ tell me something about you? o Unusual Question: - Okay so in how many steps from door u reached chair?, How many buttons are there in your shirt?, You wearing the same TIE that fellow previous to you was wearing?(These are just to either break your flow or to check your confidence and you guys have it in ample)

Student: -May I get in sir? Chair: - Oh yes come in Student: - (walk to chair) Chair: - Oho Sit down Student: -thank you sir (Looking straight into the eyes of person who asked you to sit down) Chair: -So Mr. XYZ tell me something about you? Student: - Sir my name is XYZ I did my twelfth standard from CBSE board with an aggregate of nn.n% after that I got this rank in iit jee-2007 and then joined XXX to pursue my engineering in electrical branch. In engineering I have been able to score above xx% in all semesters and currently hold an aggregate of yy.y% oh sorry aa.a% oh sorry (Chair: - oh So your are jumbling with big numbers laughing), (I also smiled and finally said) I mean xx.x%. . In technical domain I like electrical machines, power electronics, and interfacing of power equipments with soft computing devices (I had a similar profile of last attended project). Apart from studies I like to sing, play musical instruments, and compose songs, and I am also the captain of class for last three years. Other than that I have interest in event management.(Nodded my head showing I have finished) (all this should be by heart to you but dont show to them as if its learnt to you fill in with some arrrr,hmmm)

Chair: - So what your father do? Student: -My father works at ADRDE Agra. Chair: -What it is? Student: - Sir its one of the DRDO lab out of total 18(just a tukka even I didnt knew they are 18) Chair: -okay and mother Student: - She is house wife Chair: -have brother sisters? Student: -yes sir I have one younger sis Chair: -what she does? Student: -she is doing her so and so Chair: -Okay so XYZ what you think is more important getting high scores or overall development? ( Partially looking at my resume) Student: -sir I give equal importance to both of them, as you can see my profile that I am equally good at my academics as well as other extracurricular activities (went for a long bakwaas session which was totally HR, he asked me about the leadership qualities etc I replied good that a leader must me very much open to his team members and should make them feel protective of them, unka chances nahin katna chahiye unko bhi perform karney ki equal opportunities deni chahiyey, so that your team members feel that you are the one for them) [I felt when u feel short of words go for a little bit of hindi too per apne expressions se compromise mat Karoo] (Then he asked me okay how you managed your studies and well as all these things I said sir I didnt put any extra efforts I mean it all happened didnt did anything extra he said Okay so you mean it all happened I said Sir may be its destiny..smiling He replied Oh no no its not destiny I too smiled and laughed along with them he then asked okay so when u scored highest % I said 86.4 he said okay I mean when? I said oh sir in the last semester I mean 6th .) [Remember to give more eye attention to questioner and give some looks to other chair persons too.] Uske baad us person ka phone agya then the other fellow took hold of me and I finally encountered some technical question] Chair: - okay how relay is operated (with reference to power system) Student: - sir CT se signal aata hai relay ki trip coil operate ho jati hai. (I was speaking he interrupted) Chair: - okay okay can you draw how it is connected in power line (gave me blank paper and pencil) Student: - [I drawed it at the same time explaining the function] (ganda sa banaya tha but luckily sir ne wo 5-6 din pehle padaya tha) Chair: -Okay tell me why link is connected to neutral and fuse to phase wire? Student: - (I didnt knew ki aisa bhi kuch hota hai per thoda hichka starting mein or bola) sir as phase carries high current so its better to equip it with fuse so that fuse wire melts and while in case of neutral less current follows so link can be used to disconnect power system and moreover due to less current interruption the contacts of link will not get damaged. (I think I explained the working of fuse and link, dont know what he would have made out of it. Actually the topic was from power system 2, per powers system 2 padney ke baad bhi jawaab nahin pata chala) [But when I prepared for interview of PSU in march/ April then got to know that questions he asked was asked in various interviews. Chair: - (Now that person on phone returned so he asked me) okay so Mr. XYZ why u want to join ABC? Student: - (I smiled and said) sir from the second year I mean as I was not aware of the market in 1st year to join ABC is my dream job from second year (ended my reply with a big smile of happiness on my face) Chair: -okay then why should we take you? How would you be beneficial for us? Student: - Sir as you can see (directing my hand to my resume in his hand) I have completed my all projects with resulting in working models and sir I dont believe in hard work I believe in smart work I mean sir I give say if a problem requires some time to be solved than I will give hmmmmm atleast 90% of time to find the adequate solution path for that problem for which I will be convinced that I will find solution by working like that and get the problem solved in that 10% time (This all was fatta statement but sounds good and came out of no where to my mind). Chair: -Okay XYZ It was nice to talk to you Student: - (I added up extra effort to raise my smile to the constant smile I was having throughout the session) thank you sir (Nodded my head in respect, took my folder which I prepared last night with all my certificates with so much care and guess what they didnt even looked at it actually u can carry a blank one too cause no one sees it) SELECTION STATUS:- SELECTED Some clarifications:1. I feel it was more biased towards HR may be its according to the requirements they have. 2. But I heard interviews during same session (mechanical mostly and few electrical) which were drastically hard core technical. 3. Prepare a solid reply for the famous TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF QUESTION? I had strong academic background so I focused on percentages but if you dont have it then bring out your plus points (Drawing, painting, music, your friendly nature, etc) which everyone has of its own. 4. They dont look for people with large numbers they look for people which match their job profile (may be looking for stable long term people, management type, technocrats, all-round persons etc). 5. And it was only one interview you read out of the total 8 students selected. 6. I dont know what you interpreted of this interview but persons with very odd interview were also selected So whats important is the 4th point. 7. If you are not through then you are not rejected instead u didnt match what they require might be you are an officer and you applied for post of sweeper so be motivated. 8. This can also be taken as guide by MBA aspirants. Because management institutes also look for person who did excellent in their previous attended course which is engineering for you people. 9.
