ART OF THE WEST SHOW Rules for Entry Deadline for Submissions: June 1, 2010 Notification for Acceptance: June 18, 2010 Art delivered to Museum by: July 23, 2010 Exhibition Opens: August 7, 2010 Event and Sale: August 21, 2010 The High Desert Museum is pleased to present the Art of the West Show, a fundraising event featuring works of Western art from some of the best artists in North America. The Art of the West Show complements the Museums signature fundraising event the High Desert Rendezvous celebrating its 21st year. If you are interested in participating, please read the following rules of entry: Art submitted for Art of the West Show must be original and completed in the last year. Up to four (4) images* may be submitted by an artist for consideration. If sent by email, please send one image per email. No more than two (2) works will be included for the exhibition. A submission does not constitute an acceptance of the work for exhibition. Eligible Media: Oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastel, pen & ink, charcoal, etching, woodcut/block, stone lithograph, serigraph, bronze/metal sculpture, ceramics as sculpture, wood carving as sculpture, stone sculpture. Ineligible Works: Reproductions (including gicle), crafts, functional art, home dcor, digital art, photography; wet paintings, electrical works, works needing special hooks or unusual installation requirements, and any work considered unstable or in poor condition are not acceptable. Size Limitations: Maximum weight for sculpture or framed artwork is 50 pounds. Artworks submitted that fall outside these size limitations will be rejected. Installation Requirements: Two-dimensional works must be framed and completely prepared for hanging with all hardware attached. Glass or Plexiglas must cover works on paper. Promotion: By submitting artworks, the artist gives the High Desert Museum permission to publish and exhibit such artworks for publicity and promotion of their sale. Artworks may be photographed (if digital image is not provided) and reproduced in the catalogue and on the Museum's website. Terms of Sale: A 40% commission will be retained by the High Desert Museum on all artworks sold. The price indicated on the entry form must include the commission (for example, if the wall sale price for a piece sold is $1,000, the Museum retains $400). There will be 10% buyer's premium on all pieces sold, which is 100% donation to the Museum. Type of Sale: The event is a silent auction wall sale with the minimum bid of the entry price plus the buyers premium. We will offer a buy-it-now option throughout the exhibition period for the fixed-price plus a percentage. The same artist commission percentage applies to the total sale price, regardless of sale price or with the added buy-it-now option.

Shipping: Shipping to the Museum is the responsibility of the artist. If the work is not sold, the Museum will be responsible for return shipping. Liability: Shipped artworks must be sent in substantial, reusable packing materials. While the High Desert Museum intends to safeguard works of art against loss or damage while in the Museum's possession, it is agreed that the Museum will not be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from any of its acts or omissions or those of its employees while in the possession of and in transit of the said property, except for gross negligence. Artist shall, at his/her expense, procure and maintain such insurance as desired against all risk or loss or damage to said property. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement to all conditions set forth in this prospectus. *Images can initially be a small jpg, gif, pdf, or tif file for consideration purposes only.
