Masters Graduation Checklist Spring 2008

The following checklist will help to guide you through the process of completing the requirements for degree conferral. 1) Please refer to the Registrars graduation website: http://registrar.gmu.edu Services Degree Compliance. Students Graduation

2) 3)

Update your current mailing address, phone number, and email address at Patriot Web. File a Graduation Intent through the Patriot Web system. The deadline for Spring 2008 applicants was November 15, 2007. If you have not yet filed your intent, contact the Graduation section of the Registrars at 703-993-4030. Ensure all IP (In Progress) and IN (Incomplete) grades are resolved by the end of the semester. All inprogress grades (IN, IP, NR), must be resolved within six weeks after a conferral date. Ensure that all academic forms have been processed e.g. Substitution Waiver, Transfer of Credit, Declaration of Concentration etc.and that they are accurately reflected on your Patriot Web transcript. Ensure that all courses applying to your degree appear on the Graduate level of your Patriot Web transcript. You must be in good financial standing with the University. Ensure that there are no holds on your university record e.g. parking, library, student accounts. Late February 2008: The Office of Events Management will be mailing information to all graduating students, information concerning the May Commencement/Convocation ceremonies. For more information contact Events Management (993-2853 or visit their website http://events.gmu.edu). Graduates with Thesis Requirement: Maintain contact with your thesis committee and Graduate Program Director throughout the semester for any information and any changes in deadlines. The due date for thesis submission to Fenwick Library is Friday, May 2nd, 2008 by 5:00 p.m. Theses submitted after this date will qualify for graduation in summer 2008 (August 2008 degree conferral). You must be actively enrolled in the semester in which you intend to graduate. The last day to register for Spring 2008 is February 5, 2008 (please note that a late registration fee may apply). Not Active in the Semester This requirement is met by being enrolled for classes or through Special Registration. Special Registration allows you to remain active in the Mason University System without being registered for an actual course. There is a $45 fee. The most common reason for needing a special registration is for students who are working on finishing courses with incomplete grades from a previous semester. This type of registration does not meet the continuous enrollment requirement for students working on a thesis or dissertation. If you are working on a thesis or dissertation, you must enroll in at least one hour of 799 or 999 coursework.
