HR APTITUDE ROUND (Online Test) I was asked to appear for the TCS Recruitment process for the first round. I was sent a username and password and asked to log on to the website and fill in a f ew more details and then generate a Hall Ticket (PDF) format. I took 2 prints of the hall ticket and 2 copies of my resume along with me. A photo identification proof is also required (Driving License / Voters ID / College ID card / Passpor t etc) The Aptitude Test was conducted at SRS College of Multimedia, Avadi, C hennai on 12th October. No. of students appeared: Almost 18,000 Since the test w as an online test I might not be able to remember some of the questions.. but he res what I can recall. The section actually consisted of three sections namely 1) Verbal Section. (20 minutes)

10 synonyms 10 antonyms 6 fill in blanks 6 reading comprehension Prepare GRE words as much as possible. But dont waste lot of time going through t his section. Prepare a high frequency GRE Barrons word thats enough. 2) Aptitude (40 minutes) 38 questions In this section almost all the questions were from previous year papers. So for aptitude just practice previous year papers. That alone is enough. Be thorough w ith all the aptitude questions and especially the method of doing. Make sure tha t u get 35 questions correct out of the 38 questions. 3) Analytical & Critical Reasoning. (30 minutes) 3 passages This section was exactly from GRE Barrons (12th edition). The questions order was also not changed. So MUG it up. 4) No Psychometric Test. Try to get 85% in aptitude, 20% in Verbal and 20% in Analytical & Critical Reaso ning and then u can be confident that you will get short listed in the first rou nd.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW No. of students short listed for Technical Interview: 2937 The Technical Intervi ew was conducted at St.Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai on 31st October. G etting short listed in the Technical Interview is quite an uphill task. If u doe snt know the answers for his questions jus be frank to tell him that u dont know. Dont try to make up with the answer that will create a bad impression on you. Before attending the technical round prepa re well about what you have mentioned in your resume. Also prepare well the basics of C, OOPs Concepts, Data Structures, Core Java, CP U Scheduling and Memory Management, S/W Engg., RDBMS Basics, OSI Ref. Model. If they ask you to write a program dont say u dont know, try writing it and dont wo rry about syntax and minor mistakes as dont expect 100% perfection from us. There were 20 panel of H.R for the technical interview. Majority of the panel has 2 H .R and remaining has 1. I was send to a panel with single H.R. These are the que stions the interviewer asked me and my answers and it went around 35min.

TCS PAPER ON 10th OCTOBER AT CHENNAI

Synonyms & Antonyms Here I felt little difficult at this section as basically am poor in vocabulary.. If u have very strong school background its enoughI think soany how i struggled my best for this section by reading thru same GRE Here the antonyms may be easy but the synonym only little difficult. And also u dont expect the High frequency words only wil come they r changing the r questions frequently only at this sectionSo u cant expect from previous paper a lone but chances are also ther to comSo note this idea According to me u go thru. Wordlists that starts with letter A,B,C,D,E,F,I,P,S,T,V(Definitely u will get 80% from this if u r thorow) Dont confuse between synonyms and antonyms differentiate and study so it may help ful for both.

Sentence Completion Here I felt easy and I filled correctlyU should not require any high preparation for this with presence of mind u can solve Read the para by giving contiguity and analyse the meaning so automatically ur mind feel which option suits best and ma ke itIf u cant then u dont waste ur time more herejus mark as u feel.and go They r gi ving paragraph of certain general issuea like women rightspolitics like that so it wil be easy only. Reading Comprehension Atlast after doing the best leave the left to the almighty definitely u l get shortlistedYa ofcourse I accept the word Hardwork never fails..As

I had written online test the results r displayed on the screen as soon as I co mpleted my whole test Really I m happy when I got Congratulations! U cleared first round in the monitor Technical Interview Try to answer more for each question threw over uSo he may satisfy that realy u h av good technical abilityYaOf course what r al the things abov I described I had d one those. The tech interview is nominally taks 20-30 minsBut for me he asked for 40mins the reason was we talked some story abt my family peoples, etc When I finished my inte rview 100% I m satisfied that I wil b shorlisted for MR Yes, definitely while u r attending u also feel the same if u r satisfied urself def u wil get thru Now he re I admit wat r al the quest I got. Interviewer was a gent with some 35 yrs age I think so 1)Conference starts as usual with common quest like introduce urselfand I introdu ced myself in a good mannerwhich I already practicedso u better practice for expec ted quest 2)Then he asked my project description

YaI described all my projects clear and in brief manner(and also dont describe in s torydont go in depth of the project alsoif u tel story def it wil mak them running out of time so they cant put further quest to uand ur credit wil fall) 3)Then, he asked my programming skills. I told C and C++.. I know java also but I didnt said it bcos I m not very much p roficient in that and also currently java is in peak they may be experts in java so we cant tackle all questions 4)After that he asked me rate myself in C I rated 5 out of 10 then 5) He asked me to put a simple swapping program without temp variable It is easy Jus this following stmts a=a+b b=a-b a=a-b And at the same time this works only for integer range -32767 to 32767 if they ask lik this to swap 50,000 and 60,000..then u just use ^ operator in th e places of + operator it works for all range of values 6) He asked me to speak out on the data types in C? Here I explained him all the data types and storage classes of C 7) Then he asked me how much familiar in JAVA? I told 3 out of 10..the reason is even thou u know java very wel b cool an gredi t less urself bcos wat we studied is academic levelWer as they r currently ding p rojects in java so they may b very experts in javaSo they may ask som critical qu es..So better note thisIf u really feel tat u can ans from anycorner in java then no prblm carry on.

8) He asked y u credited less in Java? Then I told the reason tat in a single sem we cant cover full java so only hav b asic ideasso he didnt asked any quest.. 9) then he asked me to tel d area of Interest in subject? I told DBMS and datawarehousing Then he asked me to speak abt DBMSI started from basic introduction wat is DBMS a nd wat for it contributes then al types of relationsand al types of keys which w e use to relate the relationsFollow silberscartz if u say DBMS as ur area of inte restthen told abt datawarehousing and datamining and etc..in a brief manner

10)Atlast the casual and cool quest he askedHow abt TCS and wat u know abt TCS? For this ques u better go thru current affairs and news of TCS in ther website d ef u get idea plsss dont be very theoretical b very casual in answering every que s dont ans as if u r muck uped even thou if u muckuped dont mak him feel tat u r m uckuping an ans bcos som peoples use to do lik this.

Note one thing answer every quest dont omit as much as u canExplain every ans short and interactively which readily gives meaninginstead of lik pape r chewing cow

MR Interview U dont worry abt this round only if u done tech interview pretty wel For me this round was held on nov 7th after 15days of my tech interview In the Panel. Then he asked me wer u stay?answered Then he asked will u com from far to here daily if u got job here?answered Everything cool questso dont worry Then he asked abt my elder brother profession and my younger brother?

And asked abt my parents wether they depend on me..? Then he came slightly tech side..? Asked me which area am interested..? For this I told Datawarehousing and Business Intelligence sol

Then he asked the reason? I explained the reason in a brief manner that BI and datawarehousing was eternal always and stay with consistent demand wer as the chances of getting demand in less for other application proj.. wer as this domain stands for every wer global ly every corporate maintain ther own history data and recordsand som other reason swhich made good view to interviewer he appreciated my ans Then he asked my long term plan? Ya I told I want to be an entrepreneur of my own IT... he wished me good and all the best for thisbut for som managers this ans may not be right I think. If u prep are better ans then say that..But actually its my true aim to open an own IT in future so I said. Then he asked me wat r al u researched for IT..? For this I escaped by saying tat as we r rushing in every sem wit vast subjects ther is no time for my own projects But even thou I done 2 smal projects I explai ned tat to him..Then he was quite calm Then asked wat type of projects wil u do in IT? I told first I try to launh a project which makes an identity of my IT to the wh ole world He stayed cool on my ans with little smile then he wished advancely for my futureand finished my interviewer.. Note a thing as soon as u enter into the Panel room be cool and confident dont hesitate for anything wat ur heart says do it then as soon as meeting HR sha ke ur hands with gentle smile if u r a girl then jus say good morning sir with l ittle smile Atlast my result came after a month in December I got selected totally we all 94 6 shortlisted wer as som nearly 1000members cleared tech interview only very few eliminated in MR round So dont worry all things in u Don worry abt percentage marks its al depends on ur ability an ur level of confidence in interview so dont loss hope stay cool and fetch ur job No one can get the job if the job is urs..

Section-3: Critical Reasoning Questions 1 to 4: Small University and Large University problem of GRE Barrons 13 th edition. This can be found in the model papers. Three persons J.K,L belongs to Small University with some subjects like English, Mathematics and Electronics assigned to them. M,N,O and P belongs to small univ ersity and M deals Maths, N deals Psychology. O and P have been assigned Latin. Then four questions based on this data. Its so easy. (Not same data, but names o f persons are same and pattern is also same). Even no need to do any arrangements with the given data to solve problems based on this. We need to just write down the given data in a conventional form. Thats all. We can answer the questions very easily.

Questions 5 to 8: A group of 5 people A, B, C, D, E are there. A knows Telugu and Hindi. B knows Oriya and Malalayalam C knows Telugu and Malayalam D knows English and Oriya. E, who is a native of Andhra Pradesh, also can speak Oriya. (Not same assignments, but pattern is same) Q1. If A and B need to communicate, whose help they should take. (Ans: C, Since C know one language of A and another language of B.. like this) Q2. Among all of these languages, what are the languages that are known to many people? (Ans: Telugu-3 and Oriya-3) The questions are like that. Even there is no need to do any arrangements are also. So, no need to worry about this section also. Questions 9 to 12: Sorry. Third passage I didnt remember it. Even I didnt get time to see it. But it seems to be some what difficult. I didnt have time to answer t his question, so I left it. Also I want to share a few more details with all of you regarding the TCS test. I thought of it to be online test. But because it was a large recruitment drive, they are not capable of conducting online test for that many numbers of aspiran ts. It was manual test. And coming to the test, for verbal section, GRE Barrons of any edition is enough. And for Critical Reasoning, Barrons 12th or 13th is enough. Then finally, for Qu antitative section, the same problems will be given with only changes to the dat a. These problems can be solved by even a 7th class student also. But the thing her e is the Time Factor. How fast we are able to do them is the thing here. The sam e problems can be given every time. So dont neglect to solve each and every probl em of previous papers, if you want to crack TCS test. After that, try to improve

the speed ving the problems If you do so, Im sure that youll be half way into TCS, one of the top IT firm in the world.
