GAUGE:

8 sc + 8 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc 16 sc at end of rnd. Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc 24 sc at end of rnd. Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc 32 sc at end of rnd. Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc 40 sc at end of rnd. Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc 48 sc at end of rnd. With A, ch 2; join with sl st in beg ch. Work in a continuous spiral as follows: *work 1 sl st in next st; rep from * until Cord measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm). Fasten off. FINISHING Weave Cord through eyelets of Rnd 31, and bring both Cord ends to RS. Pull Cord ends through, from RS to WS in space between sts, just below B stripe and in line with center point between Cords. Knot Cord ends securely on inside of Backpack. Weave in ends.
