READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST Answer all the questions. Give non-exact numerical answers correct to 3 significant figures, or 1 decimal place in the case of angles in degrees, unless a different level of accuracy is specified in the question. You are expected to use a graphic calculator. Unsupported answers from a graphic calculator are allowed unless a question specifically states otherwise. Where unsupported answers from a graphic calculator are not allowed in a question, you are required to present the mathematical steps using mathematical notations and not calculator commands. You are reminded of the need for clear presentation in your answers. The number of marks is given in brackets [ ] at the end of each question or part question. At the end of the examination, fasten all your work securely together.
1.
The position vectors of the points A, B and C are given by a = 2i + 3j 4k, b = 5i j + 2k and c = 11i + j + 14k respectively. Find (i) (ii) (iii) a unit vector parallel to AB , the position vector of the point D such that ABCD is a parallelogram, the value of if A , B and C are collinear.

The position vectors of the points A and B, relative to the origin O, are a = 2i + k and b = 2i 3j + k respectively. The point C lies on OB produced such that OC = 2OB. (i) (ii) Find the position vector of the point N on AB such that AN : NB = 1 : 2. [3]
Given that the point R lies on ON produced such that the points A, R and C are collinear, find the position vector of the point R relative to the origin O. [5]
4.
2 1 and respectively. The points P and Q have position vectors 1 2 4 7 (i) Find a vector equation of the line l1 passing through P and Q.

(ii)
The line l 2 has equation x+2 y2 = , z=2 a b where a and b are non-zero constants. Write down, in terms of a and b, a vector equation of the line l 2 . Given that the lines l1 and l 2 intersect, find their point of intersection. Hence show that a = 2b . Calculate the acute angle between the two lines.
