In a world increasingly indierent to Christian truth, followers of Christ
need to be equipped to communicate with those who do not speak
their language or accept their source of authority.
This summer our panel of presenters will share how you can get in the
drivers seat, keeping any conversation moving with thoughtful, artful
diplomacy. Youll learn how to maneuver comfortably and graciously
through the mine elds, stop challengers in their tracks, turn the tables
and---most importantly---get people thinking about Jesus.
The class book is available for purchased for $15 from the church
library.

What is Our Message Part 2
Acts 5:17-20

What is Our Message? Part 2
Acts 5: 17-20
The sermon this week was the second discussion of the question of
our message. If we are to be eective in sharing our faith we need to
be clear about the message we are communicating to others. Our
message should be the same message preached by the apostles.
That message centered on the person of Christ and expanded on his
identity, ministry, death and resurrection. As we read the discourses
of the apostles in the book of Acts, we see additional aspects of their
message.
1. In Acts 5:20, how did the angel who appeared to the apostles de-
scribe the message that they were to preach?
2. What is new and dierent about the life that Jesus oers us?
3. The apostles continued to preach about the person of Jesus.
According to the following verses, what aspects of Jesus did they
address?
a. Acts 5:42
b. Acts 8:12
c. Acts 9:20
d. Acts 11:20
e. Acts 17:3
f. Acts 24:24
m| gr oup Mat er i al
4. What additional subject preached by the apostles is mentioned in the follow-
ing verses?
Acts 8:12
Acts 19:8
Acts 28:23
Acts 28:30
5. How is the message of the kingdom relevant to people today?
6. The apostles proclaimed the word of the Lord (Acts 8:25; Acts 13:5).
How receptive do you believe people are to hearing a word from God?
7. Forgiveness of sins was another subject that was addressed by the apostles
(Acts 13:38). How is that a message that people today need to hear?
8. The Apostle Paul mentioned that the Lord Jesus had called him to proclaim
Gods grace (Acts 20:24). How is the message of Gods grace something people
today need to hear?
9. What other thoughts do you have about sharing the message of Jesus Christ?
