BE Culturally Competent
Tip #17: Communicate Respectfully
Celebrate Everyone's Culture & Heritage There are a lot of ways to celebrate cultural heritage as a "staycation." Oneideais tovisit the landmarks in and around Pittsburgh to learn more about our region's history. For example, Fort Necessity was the opening action battlefield for the French & Indiana War. The Fort Pitt Museum at Point State Park presentswestern Pennsylvania's role during the French & Indian War andthe American Revolution, as well as the birth ofPittsburgh. Summer fairs and festivals alsooffer great opportunities to learn about culture and heritage. Watch a re-enactment of the 1858 fugitive slave rescue at Blairsville Diamond Days, or see cowboy demonstrations, living history encampment, and Civil Warreenactmentsat the Annual Frontier Festival at Mason-Dixon Park in Mt. Morris, PA. Also, you can go to Visit Pittsburgh for a full list of fairs and festivals.

"With the I Want To Be An Ambassador! camp, Hilda has found an inspiring way to expose students to the art of diplomacy, and to challenge them to become better negotiators by letting them see for themselves that differences are barriers to progress only if we allow them to be," Candi says.Hildaexhibits dignity and respect in her daily life without giving it a thought, as she says it comes naturally to her.Click hereto learn more aboutour currentD&R Champion.
