The defining moment for a business comes when one has to re-write the rules by re-inventing the industry and in the process, ensure economic gains for the customer. The Bangladeshi construction industry is vibrant and one of the engines of economic growth in the nation. As a supplier for one of the most costly and critical materials for the construction industry, BSRM ensures sustenance for itself and its customers by harnessing the possibilities offered by new technologies. In an era of rising costs of all types of raw materials, including steel, it has been our endeavour to ensure that customers continue to sustain themselves with better use of material, doing more with less.

Chairmans Message
Dear Directors, Senior Officers, Officers, Staff and Workers It was really a great pleasure to see BSRM Steels and our other group companies progressing so well in 2010. We have acomplished massive modernization and expansion works at BISCO, MEW, BSRM and BSRM Steels last year and all have been wonderfully achieved without any major interruptions. Thanks to the untiring efforts of all. It is my pride to share with you that, our company has achieved a record successfully, by meeting the highest sales and production ever in 2010! Without dedication and hard work from all of you, this would never have been possible. The economy of Bangladesh is improving at a very fast rate; infrastructure to support transportation, communications, power supply and water distribution are rapidly developing. The country's main endowments include its vast human resource base, rich agricultural land, relatively abundant water, and substantial reserves of natural gas, with the blessing of possessing the worlds only natural sea ports in Mongla and Chittagong. In this booming economy of Bangladesh, BSRM has been playing a vital role by contributing tremendously in the Steel sector. Recently, the stock market crash that resulted from the shortage of liquidity shook the base of total economic strength of the country. But now, BSRM is overcoming the situation. CSR is titled to aid an organization's mission as well as serving as a guide to what the company stands for and will uphold for its consumers. Development of business ethics is one of the forms that examine ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that can arise in a business environment. BSRM has always promised to maintain its CSR and will continue doing it with all its effort. It is our joy that Bangladesh hosted the colossal event of ICC WORLD CUP 2011. It enables us to show our countrys best to the people of the other countries. Bangladesh should host more events like this to uphold our nations beauty and opportunities. I would like to thank every stakeholder shareholder and employee from the core of my heart for their continuous support. Without their tremendous support, the journey would not be that smooth. We felt much honored that the Government has given us the CIP status. That encouraged us to do more for the betterment of the country. I pray to God that He has his mercy bestowed upon us for the time to come. Lets work for the longevity of our group and work towards a better future for our country in general and our group in particular. Let us all support our family in setting a part of our income for the impoverished. We are in the midst of setting up a BSRM Foundation and InshaAllah, we will be able to have the CSR started in a much bigger way in the years to follow. Let me tell you that the Management is always striving hard to develop our group and without your active participation and support, it can never be achieved. So please keep up the zeal and hard work. BSRM has a vision to sustain the leading role in the steel industry by producing the best quality steel products, continuously enhancing customer satisfaction and becoming a reliable business partner for their customers and suppliers. For BSRM, the year 2010 was the target setting year. Everybody took it seriously. We aimed on core values like sustainable growth, quality, reliability, trust, leadership, social responsibilities and customer satisfaction. We have always believed that dealers are the backbone of BSRMs distribution and sales growth, whom we value as Partners of BSRM. In the last two years, the numbers of such partners have reached close to 400 in number. Now, our products are easily available throughout the country, including the most remote of areas. Behind this success, our partners sincere efforts need to be acknowledged first. They had rendered loyal and constant support for expanding the market of graded steel and new opportunities. From the very beginning of 2010, our dealers thrived on the opportunities to create an unprecedented demand for our products. They were the key promoters of our main product, Xtreme 500W. They took responsibilities to recommend to the end user about the benefits of Xtreme-500W. Thus, almost 60% of the annual sales of last year was generated through the hard work and commitment of the BSRM dealers. In fact, they have extended their hand in expansion of the market throughout the country. Because of their sincere efforts, our product demand grew on a larger scale; its already proven that our dealers network is the main strength of our distribution channel. Thus they are our partners, not just sales agents. They are our friends as well as BSRM family members. To celebrate 2010 as a year of grand success and to convey due respect to BSRM partners, we organized Dealers Night-2011 in Chittagong, Dhaka and Khulna. The participants from the respective territories enjoyed the evening studded with many tributes and entertainments like Best Dealer Award, Dealers Certificate Presentation, Cultural Extravaganza, attractive Raffle Draws and lots more. These evenings were enjoyed and made memorable through the participation of spouses and children of all dealers, much to the satisfaction of BSRM organizers who, above all else, cherished the spontaneous familial bondage as a special reward for their efforts. Company Managing Director, Mr. Aameir Alihussain, greeted the Partners for their outstanding sales performance that led the sales of BSRM steels ahead of the target. He said, For the last few years, and this year as well, the sales of the company has been exceeding the target. Here, we want to value our Partners as the key people through such memorable events. Though partners are independent businessmen, they became enfolded in our BSRM family. Head of National Sales, Mr. Shobhon M. Shahabuddin (Raj) said, A lot of hardwork, skill and dedication are involved in BSRMs effort in producing the best quality steel of Bangladesh. But our partners are the ones who promote out products to the end customers, which in turn, enables us to sustain our leadership and continue to thrive in todays competitive market. We salute our partners with the confidence that this mutual success story of ours shall continue for generations to come.

BSRMS CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS CEPZ/KEPZ ROAD TRAFFIC SYSTEM


BSRM donated road dividers to the KEPZ and CEPZ authority to assist with their internal road traffic system. BSRM Head of National Sales, Mr. Shobhon M. Shahabuddin (Raj), handed over a number of dividers to KEPZ GM, Mr. Md. Mahmud Hasan and CEPZ GM, Mr. S. M. Abdur Rashid. Mr. Hasan thanked BSRM for this assistance in KEPZs internal road traffic control. He requested BSRM to keep up such cooperation as a socially responsible business group. Mr. Abdur Rashid praised BSRM for taking such an initiative as their Corporate Social Responsibility. He expects BSRM to continue these activities to further materialize their social responsibility. Mr. Raj informed that BSRM has been working for the road safety and traffic management for a long time. All over the country, many important roads and avenues have been well managed by road dividers, indicators and other efforts from BSRM. BSRM feels proud being partnered with the prestigious KEPZ and CEPZ for its internal road safety and traffic system. He also expressed his sincere pledge to continue such help sooner or later. BSRM Deputy Manager (Sales), Mr. Macsood Ul Alam and some officials from both parties attended the program.

TRAINING & WORKSHOP EVENTS

Mr. Aameir Alihussain, Managing Director of BSRM Steels Limited, signed a renewed contract with Daehan Steels. This commemorating program was held at Pitstop. BSRMs Chairman, Mr. Allihussain Akberali and BSRMs Director, Zohair Taherali were also present there.

BSRM Speakers
"Don't dream it, let's have it. The Confidence" BSRM Speakers started its journey on the 16th of September, 2010 on a Thursday at 4 pm in the 1st floor Conference Room of the Head Office (HO). Adviser of BSRM Group, Mr. Moize Hussain took the initiative to start the club in order to develop the future leaders of BSRM Group. The club provides an opportunity to every management employee who is willing and wants to grow his capacity by creating a friendly environment where he can practice to improve his communications & leadership skills as a public speaker. The multiple steps program is used to address every aspect of personal and professional consideration to overcome disadvantages, sometime inherit in a person like fear of public speaking, to be able to stand in front of a group of people to communicate ideas, thoughts, principles and goals as well as job related information & strategies that enhance productivity by adding clarity in our communications. The friendly environment that BSRM Speakers provides to everyone helps encourage the members to overcome their fears and anxiety of public speaking. Currently, the club has 12 members representing managers and officers cadre staff from several functions and departments. Mr. Moize Hussain, our honorable President of the Club and Group Adviser, states that when speaking effectively is matched with hearing effectively, we create a combination that smells of success in everything we do in our professional and personal lives. The weekly meeting is composed of speeches and impromptu table topics. The speeches are then evaluated, and voted upon. Every speech is also timed, checked for usage of the words of the day, monitored for filler words used and notable phrases uttered and later, feedback is provided to everyone. The meeting participants are also given the opportunity to give an impromptu speech on topics selected by a Table Topic Master. Awards are bestowed on the best speakers. The meeting ends with a general evaluation where feedback is given to everyone who played a role in the meeting. For Creative Selling Skills


Corporate HR of BSRM Group of Companies organized training programs for their Sales Team in order to train the sales force on Creative Selling Skills recently in Chittagong and Dhaka. Mr. Quazi M. Ahmed, Lead Consultant & CEO of Future Leaders, Dhaka was the Facilitator. Mr. Shobhon M Shahabuddin, National Sales Head was present in Chittagong and Mr. Osman Gani Mazumder, Sr. Manager, HR & Admin of BSRM Group of Companies supervised both the programs.

FINLAY PROPERTIES LTD. BECOMES THE CORPORATE CLIENT OF BSRM


A steel supply agreement was signed between BSRM and Finlay Properties at a premier restaurant of Chittagong on 5th May, 2011. Managing Director of Finlay Properties, Mr. Mufakkharul Islam Khasru and Mr. Shobhon Mahbub Shahabuddin (Raj), Head of National Sales, BSRM, signed the agreement for their respective companies. Under the agreement, Finlay officially pledged to use BSRM steel in all their residential and commercial projects all over the country while BSRM promised a good package of customized corporate facilities to Finlay. Mr. Raj appreciated Finlay for selecting the best steel producer of the country to guarantee the structural safety of their construction works. Mr. Bappi Dhar, Senior Manager (sales), Mr. Anisul Alam from BSRM and Eng. Upam Barua, Md. Moinul Islam, Md. Ariful Islam from Finlay Properties were present at the program.

Fire Safety Awareness Program


Mr. Aameir Alihussain, MD of BSRM Steels Ltd. and Director of BSRM Group of Companies, was present at the closing session of the training on Fire Safety Awareness Program and distributed certificates among the participants. Corporate HR of BSRM Group of Companies organized the day long training program recently for their executives. Mr. Md. Rashedul Islam, CEO & Lead Consultant of Prevent Safety Solution, Dhaka conducted the sessions where Mr. Osman Gani Mazumder, Sr. Manager, HR & Admin, BSRM Group of Companies, was also present.

BISCO has obtained ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004 Certificate


BSRM Iron & Steel Company Limited (BSICO) has implemented successfully the provisions of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) in its day to day operations. United Register of System (URS) audited the system of BISCO and found it to be satisfactory. As a recognition of the same, BISCO obtained ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 Certificates from UKAS and URS recently. It would not be out of place to mention here that the other units of BSRM Group of Companies, such as Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills Limited (BSRM), Meghna Engineering Works Limited (MEW) and BSRM Steels Limited (BSRMS) are also ISO Certified organizations. BSRM is the 1st ISO Certified Company in the Steel Sector of Bangladesh.

9th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

BSRM recently arranged the Annual Sales Conference 2010 to endorse the 2011 sales plan and to share different ideas and policies. It has also presented the current scenario of the company. All the sales related personnel along with the MD of the company discussed the present portfolio and future company plans.

HANDOVER AND PLACEMENT OF ROAD DIVIDER

Enhancing Social Responsibility is one of the visions of BSRM. Recently, BSRM provided Road Dividers to various zones (Sylhet, Rangamati, Rajshahi, Bogra) in order to assist with the Polices for ensuring traffic safety throughout the country.

The recent Divisional Digital Innovative Fair, solemnized 11 - 13 November, 2010, has initialized the approach of the Governaments Digital Bangladesh plan. BSRM was a proud sponsor of that program.

PWD SEMINAR AT DHAKA


A seminar was held at the Auditorium Purta Bhavan, PWD, Segunbagicha in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Economy in steel using 8mm Grade-500W high strength re-bars replacing 10mm re-bars of Grade-276/Grade-40 & Beam ductility experiment using Grade 500 steel on 24th November, 2010. The program started at 4:00 PM, and the number of participants was 80, who were engineers of PWD (62 people) and outside engineers (18 people) who were designer. Mr. Kazi Anwar Ahmed, GM of our Dhaka office, gave a welcome speech on behalf of BSRM. Dr. Shafiul Bari Prof of BUET was the key note speaker who gave a 30-minute presentation with the help of a Multimedia Projector on Economy in steel using 8mm Grade-500W high strength re-bars replacing 10mm re-bars of Grade-276/Grade-40. (Dr. Shafiul Bari showed the savings of steel and cost by using Xtreme500W re-bar in place of Grade 40/G-276).

GM Operations & Admin, Heads of all the Departments & Trustee Members of BSRM Steels Limited Workers Welfare Fund (W.W.F) Mr. Nasir & Mr. Wadud were present in this program. Head of Production handed over a Cheque of BDT. 100000/= (one lac only) from BSRM Steels Limited Workers Welfare Fund to Mr. Soliman, father of Late Md. Rezaul Karim, Technician-Crane operation, who expired in a fatal road accident on 20th September, 2010.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Dr. Munaz Amed Noor Prof of BUET gave a 25 minute presentation on Beam ductility experiment using Grade 500 steel. The open discussion session was quite lively with the participation of guest engineers. Lots of questions were raised. Prof. Shafiul Bari and Prof. Munaz Noor gave satisfactory answers to all the participants. Mr. Chitta Ranjan Das, Chief Guest of this seminar, highlighted the benefits of 500 Grade re-bars and thanked the participants for attending the seminar. Mr. Abdul Mozid Sikder, Chairperson of the seminar, gave his vote of thanks to BSRM and to the participants. Technical papers were distributed to all the participants during the session. The seminar ended at around 5:40 pm, which was followed by snacks.
Two members of BSRM family, Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman and Mr. Md. Ismail have successfully completed Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management (PGDPM) exam. This certification exam has been arranged and conducted by Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) in their Chittagong campus. BSRM is proud of their achievements and remains confident that they will all go on to hold responsible positions and bring in many more laurels for the company in the future.
