1. 2. 3. 4. The registration receipt deadline is Wednesday, August 24th. All registration forms/fees must be received by that date. No refunds will be made on entries. Location of event: Tishomingo County High School Auditorium 701 Hwy 72 Iuka, MS 38852 Contest begins at 2:00 p.m. Music must be on a CD-R Only. There should be only one song per CD. Any violation will result in disqualification. A backup CD should be available in case of technical difficulties. One winner from each age division for all categories combined will be chosen for a total of three winners. In addition there will be one overall winner chosen. The winners in each division will be recognized with a medallion. An overall winner will be awarded a trophy. All four winners must agree to perform two songs/acts Saturday, September 3rd at the Iuka Heritage Festival. One of the songs/acts must be the same one performed in the competition. The registration desk will open one hour before the scheduled event. All participants should be preregistered and checked in at the desk leaving their labeled CDs. (No cassette tapes allowed). Once you submit your registration in a category you may not change your registration at the desk. A separate entry fee will be charged and a separate application must be completed for each category entered. Only one entry per form. A contestant may enter only once per category. You may enter as many categories as you wish. The age of the contestant is based on their age on the date of the competition. Group acts should average the age of all contestants and perform in the appropriate age category for the average age. The contest is open to any and all eligible competitors, regardless of residence. All acts should be no longer than 4 minutes. Any act running over this time limit will have 1 point deducted for every 30 seconds. An official timekeeper will be present. Timing begins with the first note or word and ends with the last note or word. Use of CDs in the vocal performance categories containing background vocals of any type will result in a 1-5 point deduction from the total score depending on the amount and volume of the background vocals. The number of deductions will be at the judges discretion. The number of microphones provided will be based upon the equipment needs information provided on the entry form. Contestants may not bring their own wireless microphones or audio equipment. All props must be inanimate with the exception of those used in a variety type act. (i.e. magician) The talent competition staff does not set up any props or scenery for participants. All contestants must designate assistants to immediately set up and remove objects concerning your act. Setting up and removal will be counted within the time limits of your act.

The use of smoke, fire, sharp objects or any device capable of causing injury to performers or audience members is strictly prohibited. Anything thrown off the stage will be cause for immediate disqualification. Only one person other than those visible on the stage will be allowed in the holding area per act. This includes all parents, teachers, and friends. Any contestant who damages or defaces any park/festival/event property and equipment will be liable for damages and disqualified from the event. Audience seating is on a first-come first-served basis. All instruments are the sole responsibility of the act. In an instrumental act, the contestant must create all sounds live on stage. Pre-programmed music is not allowed. Electrical requirements need to be addressed on the entry form. The talent competition staff will have sole authority in scheduling acts, controlling stage sets, sound, lights, power and overall (master) volume. The talent competition staff assumes no responsibility for any expenses, transportation, meals or rooms for any contestant. All acts will be judged on age appropriateness for both the age of the contestant and for presentation in a family oriented atmosphere. All judges decisions are final. Any contestant, parent, teacher, or friend who attempts to communicate with the judges before, during or after their adjudications will be disqualified and forfeit any prize that may have been received. In the event of a tie score, our judges will review the score sheets and break the tie. This contest is not open to professionals. Professional is defined as anyone who has worked professionally in the entertainment industry, receiving wages and/or benefits, between September 2, 2010 and September 3, 2011. If an entrant advances to the finals in their division they must perform the same song/act plus one additional song/act Saturday, September 3 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the same location. Contestants must observe all applicable rules and regulations or be barred from the talent competition. The talent competition staff reserves the right to remove from the talent competition any entrant not conforming to the rules and regulations or any entrant refusing to follow instructions of security or talent competition officials. The talent competition staff shall determine all questions regarding entries, category, rules or any other issues. Their decision is final. In the event a category has less than three (3) contestants, the contestants will be competing in a Variety category. Vocal group category requires having more that one (1) person singing. Acceptable re-dos must be the result of technical error on the part of the competition staff. Please refer to rule #3. This talent competition is sanctioned by the Mid-South Fair. If contestant requirements are met, then a Mid-South judge will be in attendance to give out bids for ages 13-21.
