AntiTuberculo sis
Rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol, at therapeutic levels, have demonstrated bactericidal activity against both intracellular and extracellular Mycobact erium tuberculosisorganism.
CONTRAINDICATIO NS: Hypersensitivity to rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol HCl, or any of the components of Quadtab. Patients with severe hepatic damage and acute gout. Preexisting optic neuritis from any cause.
Rifampicin: Flu-like syndrome; hematopoietic reactions; cutaneous, GI & hepatic reactions; shortness of breath; shock & renal failure. Hypersensitivity reactions. INH: Disturbances of hepatic function, convulsions, optic neuritis & atrophy, memory impairment, toxic psychosis, hepatitis & peripheral neuropathy. Pyrazinamide: Hyperuricemia. Ethambutol: Decreased visual acuity due to optic neuritis; joint pain, anaphylactoid reactions, dermatitis, pruritus, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, GI upset, malaise, headache, dizziness, mental confusion, disorientation, hallucinations.
- Observe for the 10 R of drug administration - Provide adequate information about the drug - Assess for any possible drug interaction - Assess for any condition which requires precaution or contraindicatio n - Administer drug before meal to prevent reduction in drug efficacy - Instruct the pt to report any discomfort after taking the drug - Instruct the pt to rest after taking the drug

For all types of anorexia specificall y in conditions associated w/ irritability, body weakness & easy fatigability, infection & trauma as seen in TB, Fedeficiency anemia, an orexia nervosa & malnutritio n. CONTRAINDICATIO NS: Alcohol & CNS depressants, pregnancy.
