The Five Pillar of Islam

What is Islam: The Five beliefs each Muslim has Shahadah: The inseparable testimony Saying there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah Muhammad is a messenger of Allah Whoever says this with sincerity is to be considered as a Muslim Whoever dies on this belief will enter Paradise if his sins were forgiven by Allah Salah: Establishing the prayer -Performing the prayer on time -They can be preformed on any clean spotting on the earth and this was a blessing given to Muhammad (pbuh) only.. the whole world was a place of

prayer...before the Jews they had to go to the temples they can not pray anywhere..and even in Jerusalem.. -it is obligatory to pray towards Makkah..in order to give us a sense of unity even Jesus where to pray toward Jerusalem and Moses the Muslims the early Muslims first directions prayer was towards Jerusalem..then it was turned toward MakkahA house build by Abraham and by his son Ishmael.and it was the first house on this earth build for the worship of one God so were turning ourselves to that one house to unity.. -All the other prophets fell on there faces and prayed.Islam is just reviving these traditions.we bring back into existence that which the people have forgotten. Zakat: Paying financial obligation -2.5% of any cash saving held for one year -5% to 10% of any agriculture income -20% of any extracted resources and minerals The right of the Poor on the Rich -This is what evens out the balance of society and we dont have the rich staying rich and poor staying poor Fast: Fasting the month of Ramadan -No eating, drinking, or sexual activities from dawn till sunset -It had been prescribed upon other nations. -It is a ritual of worship which enhances patience and perseverance through discipline. Hajj: Making pilgrimage - It is obligatory for all Muslims to go once in there lifetime if they are able to do so..to go the Makkah endure the trip to have the annual

gathering of the Muslims to show there unity to show there solidity .. To worship Allah in the first house ever build for the worship of Allah this is something that all pilgrimage make from one place to another The Six Beliefs In Islam: Iman Believing in Allah Believing in his angels: The nature of Angels Created from light They do not have free will They do specific tasks such as: -Carry messages to the messengers of God - They protect human beings -They record our deeds Believing in his scriptures (books) -Scrolls, Torah, Az-Zabur, Gospel, Quran. -Angel Gabriel carried them to messengers; -100% correct -The Quran is the only book that has been maintained in its original language; Arabic What is the Quran? The last revelation The principal source of every Muslims faith and practice It deals with all the subjects that concern human beings including wisdom, doctrine, worship, and law. Its basic themes are the relationship between God and his creatures and between people one another. The Quran provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct, and equitable economic principles. Believing in his messengers

One message for all messengers. -Worship God alone and do not associate partners with him - All messengers are the best human beings; they do not commit Major sins. -None of them is divine. - Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of Islam -Prophet Muhammad is the last messenger of Allah -His traditions (Sunnah) are considered the nd 2 source of Islamic knowledge and legislation after the Quran -Before becoming a prophet the Arabs used to call him the trustworthy (Al-Amin) and the truthful -For Muslims he is the most beloved person and example to follow. - His saying show that he was given Wisdom from God and for he was not a learned man and only by God he was given Wisdom and knowledge Believing in the day of resurrection We believe that we will be resurrected after our death Our Book of deeds will be read in front of the peopleeverything we did will be exposed.other than that which God has concealed through his forgiveness..we will be accountable for everything we have done.and we will receive a fair judgment in front of GodPeople will be judged equitably in justice in front of God..then according to what we have done we will be given eternal paradise or the hellfire.

6) Believing in the divine destiny: Badara in Arabic- means nothing will happen without the knowledge of Allah. He sits outside of time.. Allah does not see things the way we see things.through progression of time..Allah sees the beginning of time the end of time all at the same time.all of this incomes by his knowledge..so Allah already knows what you are going to do.It is not as if he is going to make you do it .Allah does not make you do anything.you do things with your own free will be Allah already knows.Allah already knows what choice you will make and what choice you will not make.. Allah knows what happened, what is happening, what will happen and he knows the 4th; He knows what will not happen, and if it happened, how it would happen Status of Woman in Islam -Woman in Islam, like men, Have the right to gain education Engage in business Engage in professions Engage in public life Keep their family name and identity Possessions secured Prophet Muhammad: On Jihad Never to kill innocent people Never injure prisoners of war Never kill animals Never destroy crops Never destroy Infrastructures

Never mutilate bodies of enemies dead or alive All prisoners given fate treatment Woman and children protected from harm Always bury all dead with respect Note: 1400 Years before the Geneva Convention

1. Muslim are neither allowed to accept slaver nor occupation 2. Islam advocates moderation 3. Islam abhors extremism terrorism, fanaticism and oppression Signs of sincerity: 1) Absence of Sillyness 2) A lot of Thikr (Remembrance of Allah) 3) Humility (humbleness) 4) Shakhir to Allah (Thankful) 5) Consistency --no matter what happens to the person they keep going Note: some of the Ulama said the Aaebad of Al--Aamal --meaning one that worships their actions---so if something doesn't go their way they stop doing it ---so if something bad happens they lose hope ---lose hope in their deeds --because they use to hope on their deeds not Allah (SWT) What is Ihsan: 1) To worship Allah as if you see him, for if you dont see him then truly he sees you (This is the highest state of islam) 2) The Term means perfectionexcellence Imam Nawawi's Forty Hadith :Hadith #2

On the authority of Omar, who said : One day while we were sitting with the messenger of Allah there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journeying were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs, he said:"OMuhammed, tell me about Islam". The messenger of Allah said: "Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadhan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so." He said:"You have spoken rightly", and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly. He said: "Then tell me about eman."He said:"It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof." He said:"You have spoken rightly". He said: " Then tell me about ehsan." He said: "It is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him, and while you see Him not yet truly He sees you". He said: "Then tell me about the Hour". He said: "The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner." He said: "Then tell me about its signs." He said: "That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute herdsman competing in constructing lofty buildings." Then he took himself off and I stayed for a time. Then he said: "O Omar, do you know who the questioner was?" I said: "Allah and His messenger know best". He said: "He was Jebreel (Gabriel), who came to you to teach you your religion."
