DREAMS

In touristy places everything is done to entertain people. Once I was visiting a mystic village in Nepal. Among many attractions, there was a man who knew how to interpret dreams. At least, I was informed that he could do it. As I had nothing special to do, I decided to go his place. He looked like a prophet. The soft evening breeze kissed his long white hair and beard. He looked at the tourist with patient eyes and talked to them with a tame voice. They looked as if they were his disciples. I reluctantly sat around him to listen to his explanations. If you, dearest reader, dont consider me too bizarre, I will reproduce part of that meeting at whit there were a dozen people or so. Old man: Ask about your dreams if you have any, my dear children. I: Do you think a dream can influence somebodys life? Old man: if Julius Caesar had been less incredulous about dreams, he would have listened to the warning which Calpurnia, his wife, received in a dream. I: Which was that? Old man: It means to a young person like you that you will receive a lot of attention. It generally means prosperity. A man: What can a person expect if he dreams of a hammer? Old man: If you dream of a hammer, you will have some discouraging obstacles to overcome in order to establish your fortune firmly! A woman: What if a person dreams of a screwdriver? Old man: If you dream of this tool, you will have tedious tasks to perform. It also denotes that you must be careful and economical. A priest: Suppose I dream of an enormous cathedral. Old man: to dream of a vast cathedral, with its domes rising into space, denotes that you will be possessed with an envious nature and unhappy longings for the unattainable, both mentally and physically. I: If I could, I would like to know further examples of historical dreams. Old man: Lets see Joan of Arc saw her death in a dream. Croesus saw his son killed in a dream. The day before Attilas death, the Emperor Marcian knew it through a dream. Now, if you read the Bible, you will find many other examples. Interpretations continued on and on. If I were a TV reporter covering that event, I would end up the program by saying: Believe it or not.

Em lugares tursticos tudo feito para entreter as pessoas. Uma vez eu estava visitando uma aldeia mstica no Nepal. Entre muitas atraes, houve um homem que sabia como interpretar sonhos. Se eu fosse um reprter de TV cobrindo o evento, eu acabaria o programa dizendo: "Acredite ou no".
