Chapter 1: Getting to know your Long Range Antenna Package

Your kit includes a 30 (optional 4 foot version) 10 dBi omni directional antenna which is designed and built for the exact specifications of BroadbandXpress by Digital Antenna to provide maximum performance and reliability under the toughest weather conditions. These antennas fit onto a custom designed stainless steel mount which has a grommet hole. A 30 foot (optional 50 foot version) RF Cable is included in the kit for connecting the antenna to our PCMCIA high power wireless card or the Networked Boat High Power Bridge.

Figure 1-1

Tips for installing your BroadbandXpress high power system: 1. Do not substitute cabling with anything but the supplied cable. Substitution of cable will void the warranty. Many cables available from manufactures are not solid core copper and are not terminated properly. 2. Do not splice the cable or extend it. 3. Do not add connectors- this results in loss in transmission power. 4. Do not exceed a cable length of 50 feet. BBX supplies 30 or 50 feet cabling. 5. Install the antenna in a location with clear line of sight to the WiFi transmission antenna. 6. Do not install beside any large metal object that would block the WiFi signal 7. Do not install under any canvas. Wet Canvas blocks the transmission. 8. Ensure that your system is installed by a suitable professional and all possible water penetrations are permanently sealed. We have included a universal adapter to fit into one of the following mounts: ratchet mount, straight mount, or rail mount

Mounting Method Number One: (Straight Mount): Step 1: Connect the n-male connector on the RF cable to the n-female connector of the antenna. Step 2: Wrap the coaxial seal around the n-male connector on the antenna to seal the RF fittings. Step 3: Fish the cable through the adapter and the mount. Step 4: Connect the adapter to the antenna. Step 5: Connect the adapter to the straight mount. Step 6: Drill the hole in your boat or RV. Step 7: Run the RF cable to the location of your laptop or high power bridge of your Networked Boat. Step 8: Install the rubber grommet gasket to ensure that the hole in the adapter is sealed. Step 9: Seal the hole in your boat or RV where the RF cable runs, ensure that you use the appropriate sealant to ensure no water penetration. Seek professional advice how to provide a weather proof seal.

Mounting Method Number Two: (Ratchet Mount): Step 1: Connect the n-male connector on the RF cable to the n-female connector of the antenna. Step 2: Wrap the coaxial seal around the n-male connector on the antenna to seal the RF fittings. Step 3: Install the rubber grommet gasket to ensure that the hole in the adapter is sealed. Step 4: Fish the cable through the grommet hole in the adapter. Step 5: Connect the adapter to the antenna. Step 6: Connect the adapter to the ratchet mount. Step 7: Drill the hole in your boat or RV. Step 8: Run the RF cable to the location of your laptop or high power bridge of your Networked Boat. Step 9: Seal the hole in your boat or RV where the RF cable runs (ensure that you use the appropriate sealant to ensure no water penetration. Seek professional advice how to provide a weather proof seal.)

Mounting Method Number Three: (Rail Mount): Step 1: Connect the n-male connector on the RF cable to the n-female connector of the antenna. Step 6: Connect the adapter to the rail mount.

Chapter 2: Antenna Installation (detailed diagram)

1. Screw the n-male connector to the antenna (Figure 2-1). Be sure to install marine grade sealant between the mount and the mounting surface to ensure that there is no water penetration on any of the RF fittings.

(Figure 2-1)

2. Install the gasket in the grommet hole Straight Mount: Install the rubber gasket to close all penetration in the adapter (Figure 2-2A) Ratchet and Rail Mount: Install the rubber gasket to avoid damaging cable jacket (Figure 2-2B)

(Figure 2-2A)

Chapter 3: Connecting to your wireless network device

A. FOR THE BROADANDXPRESS HIGH POWER PCMCIA CARD ONLY

1. Attach the gold conversion cable to the LMR cable (Figure 3-1A and Figure 3-1B)

(Figure 3-1A)

(Figure 3-1B)

2. Follow the guide for the High Power PCMCIA Wireless Card to continue the installation.

B. FOR THE NETWORKED BOAT HIGH POWER BRIDGE ONLY

1. Attach the small gold connection end to the side connection of the white bridge device labeled Ant A. Tighten the connection by turning clockwise (Figure 3-2)

Figure 3-2 Important Note: Hand tighten only. Over tightening may damage the connector and shall void the warranty. (Figure 3-3)
